I am in the process of adopting a dog (small pug mix) and finding a new place to live at the same time (ton of fun, I know). I was given a recommendation to look into pet insurance that also covers damage to the place I rent. I found a company called PetCare Insurance – it is /month, with a deductible. It covers all sorts of accidents and illnesses, as well as 0 damage to the apartment/house.

Has anyone gotten insurance like this? Is it worth it, or is it a scam? Have you heard of PetCare Insurance, or is there another one you would recommend? Thanks
I’m not laughing Sean, Oprah is fabulous! I definitely cannot spend thousands of dollars on pet surgery…but I can afford bucks a month as a security blanket. The house coverage is pretty cool too, I think…especially if we have housetraining issues…eeeew.

Looks like it costs about -40ish/mo for my 8yo Australian Cattledog. He’s in great health, but dont want any surprise k+ bills if he gets hit by car(he IS normally leashed)or otherwise injured.I’m worried about spider bites, snake bites, coyotes, etc. We live in the mountains in AZ,so lots of creatures 2 come in contact with.I’ve hit a few sites for pet insurance(the ASPCA offers a policy now too)and they all give sales-pitch-here’s-why-u-don’t-want-the-other-company lists…therefore, very confusing.Altho I’d love a "pay for all/no yrly limits" policy if there was one, realistically hoping to find Catastrophic Coverage especially if it’s cheaper per month(again,my main concern is to avoid a vet bill that could buy a car!So many horror stories out there!)Thanx in advance 4 any PERSONAL experience-both good & bad- &any ADVICE/OPINION…for BaiBai,who has had a very "ruff" life for 8yrs(rescued from Thailand, abused, etc.)NO WAY will I put this dog down if he needs surgery!

Why are Tax Credits not earned as a Pet Owner?

To be a pet owner is quite expensive. From the initial purchase of a pet until death do you part, the cost of owning a pet is costly. The fact that the government has funded agencies to help the animal population and maintain health and control as a public service makes me wonder why the taxpayer is not awarded for doing their part in being a responsible pet owner by allowing Tax credits for claiming their pet (s) as a dependent upon the household income?
Veterenarian bills are extremely expensive and there is even pet medical insurance offered to the public in case of unforseen emergencies that would otherwise render its owner helpless, financially, to their pet.
This would not happen if it were a human patient, yet, the comparison of medical proceedures between a human and that of an animal are astonishing!
Are they preying on our love of our pet? Why can the taxpayer not be given a percentage of these expenses as Tax refundable? To me, my pet is my family.
All pet owners should rally together!!

I have been a vet tech for a small practice in VT for a little over 4 years. My boss is in his 60′s and wants to retire but doesn’t due to retirement/health insurance and plans to work until he is 65. His wife who also works there is very anti-social and does not see clients. I was more or less happy there until about 3-4 months ago they started to change. I suspect they are using medicines from the hospital for themselves. They have started raising bills and charging for things not done or used. They also have been treating animals in harsh manners and instead of looking something up in a medical book they will google whatever they want and go with some random answer they have found online. They do procedures they have never done before and don’t bother telling the clients that they have never done it. They also charge an arm and a leg for these procedures and if it goes wrong the client has to pay for a second surgery or extra medications to correct their mistakes. I have completely had it. I have worked as a tech for years and have never seen doctors with fewer morals than they seen to have lately. So here’s the question, what do I do? It is a very small clinic, I am 1 of 2 techs. Since I have been there 2 other techs have left and 1 doctor has left all for similar reasons but none of them really said that to the boss. I am honest and I had enough, I told them that I thought they were immoral and unethical and all of the other stuff I mentioned above, they decided I was having personal problems at home and that’s why I was upset. Does anyone know what can be done, if anything? Can I call the state board and say I suspect them to be medicating themselves? Can I call the state vet and tell them they are not practicing good medicine and they are cruel to the animals. Is there anything I can do that might help the poor pets and clients who go to this hospital? Please answer if you have any thoughts at all. Thank you (sorry this is so long)
They are being sued, a cat died as a result of their carelessness. I assume they will settle out of court. I have done a lot of research over the past few months and it seems there are very little laws about this sort of thing. Veterinarians are bound by ethics but no ethics are listed that I can find. I have found very little to go on in the sense of turning them in to someone. I assume if they are using medication if I turn them into the right source they will be held responsible.

I’m looking for something that will cover the preventative care like dental cleanings and pay a percentage of the bigger stuff. All the plans I’ve seen focus on the big stuff with wellness an afterthought (and a surcharge!) It seems like, with people insurance, it would be cost effective for them to cover the relatively cheap preventative stuff 100 percent so that the bigger stuff is caught before it becomes a real problem. I also want a program that insures all my cats, all together for one (preferably small) fee rather than each one individually so that if one cat doesn’t use all of his benefits, the others can use his allotment. Of course I also want excellent customer service and quick reimbursement times. Does anyone know of such a plan?

I have a 30 gallon, with 2 green tree frogs, with a fountain, moss, soil, and gravel substrate. I am also keeping live tropical plants in the terrarium as well. What other pets can I keep in this terrarium with my green tree frogs?

Pet insurance for puppies?

I need to get some pet insurance for my new cross-breed puppy. He’s 16weeks old, has had his jabs and is in good health. Can anyone recommend a provider? I’m going round in circles on search engines and comparison sites and need a good personal recommendation!
I should add that I live in the UK so british providers would be the mot helpful…
