During the transferring of the cat to the vet, my girlfriend’s mom was scratched. She got rabies shots today (my gf’s mom) My question is, could my gf or me have rabies? Because during the grieving period after the cat was put to sleep, my gf’s mom kissed her on her cheek, and since then I have kissed my gf. So, now I’m a bit paranoid of this, and having no health insurance makes it worse. Am I at risk now for rabies or is my gf? Thanks, or am I just being paranoid and a hypochondriac?
To answer the last person, yes the cat was frothing/foaming at the mouth, the cat had been to the vet 2 days earlier, and was thought to have a urinary tract infection, and then 2 days later, he was the tasmanian devil, full blown rabid, the vet has been a vet for 30 years. he said either ensifilites (sp) or rabies. I saw the cat, believe me, this was a very in pain rabid cat, seizing, convulsing, etc, was not pretty. We are assuming the cat was bit maybe 1-2 weeks before it was put to sleep. by either a bat, racoon or skunk, cat was mostly an indoor/outdoor cat, only 6 year old male, had gotten annual shots, inc rabies shots all his life, but we were a little past due on his latest. happened here in ohio, big house, big backyard, other outdoor cats, lots of activity, etc. very tragic.
