I adopted a 1½ year old Male cat who has been fixed and declawed already, I am not sure if he has ever had his shots, I would like to get his shots up to date but don’t want to double shot him, Is there anyway the vet could tell if he has had his shots and which ones will be needed? Also any other reccomendations on any other shots I should get him?

Truth be told, I wouldn’t mind owning this horse. Eight year old black and white gelding (unregistered) broke to ride and drive. No bad habbits.
I don’t know how foreclosure works in detail, but she said they have to move out and their intention is to buy back the acreage.
Many times I’ve been asked to board horses and I always say no because I don’t need the hassle. I feel bad, though, because they are having financial problems.
The way I see it, I have 3 options.
1. I asked her if she would sell me the horse for and then buy it back for when they got their place back. She had no problems with this. How long should the deal be good for as taking care of him would be out of my own pocket?
2. Set up some type of contract to board, but how do you handle insurance and things? Also, what if they can’t afford board can I take posession of the horse after so long? I’m not familiar with the laws on this.
3. Tell her no, sorry, can’t help you out?
Any ideas? Thanks
She has had the horse for about 5 years, so I know her intention is to get her horse back. He would be in the yards/pasture with my own horses. He would not get his own stall or pen. I just don’t want to get taken advantage of.
Jenn-the gal is in her upper 30′s and was buying the acreage on her own. I know she has lived there for at least 6 years. I don’t know financially what happened to cause the foreclosure. I don’t think she found a place for herself yet, she is more concerned about finding a place for her animals.
edit the last edit! She was buying the place to start with on her own, but now has her boyfriend living with her. That is I said "their" acreage..sorry!

Also, if we write a contract to board the horse, I don’t want people comming to my place when I’m not home. I’m not trying to hide anything, I just like my privacy.
Paint Pony-I wondered about the foreclosure being settled in 30 days too! I didn’t think you were allowed to buy your own place back either, but I could be wrong. They are still living there, but but have to move off the place…who knows, they could be blowing smoke. I just don’t want this decent horse to end up on a one way trip either north or south.
I get along with her fine, but something about her boyfriend seems sneaky.
Great answers…thanks everybody for giving me all the angles to think about!

Lyme disease seems like it is becoming an epidemic with over 200,000 new cases each year (not too mention all of the people who were misdiagnosed by ignorant doctors)

What areas in the US have been affected most? Is there some sort of state by state statistics?

What are some easy steps to insure that the fresh rabbit skin/pelt/fur doesn’t go bad? How should I dry and preserve the skin while at home? What should I use and how should I use it… Thanks for the details… Jessi

She is eight and very fat. She ran out of water when we were out and went into ketosisacidois. Her breath smells alot like acetone so we took her to the emergency room even though she was drinking on her own. The vet says now she has diabetes. Can they recover if we get the weight down?

importing pet dogs into Jakarta?

Does anyone know if it is possible to import from non-rabies free countries to Jakarta Indonesia, if you have health certificates and full history of vaccinations.

I have read that the Ministry Of Agriculture does not provide and Import permit for those animals coming from India.
I need real answers here, as I have been unable to find up to date information.
Both of my dogs are also Microchipped and fully up to date with anti rabies shots.
I read also that pets can be distroyed at the Jarkarta airport

I made a list of things that many democrats running Washington right now are saying….which one do you find most disturbing?

1. "If you like it you can keep it"
FACTCHECK!
To be fair, Pelosi’s bill does not literally outlaw your current insurance company, nor does it outlaw your employer from continuing to offer the current options. But that’s about where it ends. The current bills are so disruptive to the current healthcare cost structure that it is absolutely irresponsible for the President to be claiming "if you like it you can keep it" since in all likelihood the decision will not be yours to make. Moreover, everyone who has looked closely at the design of Pelosi’s bill is lying if they don’t admit it is designed to run the private insurers out of business leaving us bankrupt with a gov’t-run single-payer system. By the way, the latest is that Obama & Pelosi are trying to use the word "co-operative" in place of "public option" though it is still just a single-payer trojan horse since the tax-payer is on the hook for the cost, especially once the private insurers shut down and bow to their rule-making counterpart.
Don’t believe me? Check out these two links and you decide:

2.Obama and Pelosi will make healthcare more affordable by reducing its cost.
FACTCHECK!
According to the Bipartisan CBO (which usually slightly underestimates costs) is telling everyone their bill increases the cost of healthcare from the status quo (i.e. doing nothing):

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/31949211/ns/politics-cq_politics/

3. The protestors at town halls are un-American and do not represent a bonafide grass roots movement as they have been sent by the insurance companies.
FACTCHECK!
Not true, but you should judge for yourself:

http://www.northjersey.com/multimedia/video/52913557.html

(By the way, here is info on Obama’s staged event in NH:
The cute little girl who asked Obama how do kids know what is true and why do people want a new health care system? Her name is Julia Hall and she’s 11 years old. Her mother is an attorney, Kathleen Manning Hall. On Kathleen Hall’s Facebook page there’s a picture of her with Barack Obama. She has contributed thousands of dollars to Obama, and her law firm has contributed thousands more. Now you tell me what the chances are that she was randomly called on at the ObamaEvent. Isn’t this what Nancy Pelosi call "Astro-Turf"?)

4. Tort Reform only represents 1% of total healthcare costs.
FACTCHECK!
This tort reform estimate grossly underestimates only a small subset of direct payouts to victims and does not even include the bulk of money involved in frivolous lawsuits that do not even make it to court. As of 2003 this amount was actually about billion annually and has grown since. Moreover it does not include the insurance doctors must pay and the shortage of doctors that result due to liability of specific types of doctors. No one wants to remove penalties for doctors who screw up, but rewarding lawyers with million dollar awards cannot be helping to make healthcare more affordable. Moreover, while Democrats and their journalist supporters try to paint insurance providers and drug manufacturers as being "special interests" working to defeat reform, they constantly overlook the role that trial lawyers are playing to try and impose Pelosi’s specific legislation which will open the flood gates as many more patients are unleashed on an understaffed healthcare system with no tort reform or award limits whatsoever and tax-payers funding an endless supply of money.

5. There is no "Death Panel" in Obama’s vision for healthcare.
FACTCHECK!
Perhaps Obama and Pelosi don’t use this specific term, but read Barack Obama’s ideas about where 80% of the cost of healthcare and decide for yourself what he wants a panel of "doctors, scientists, ethicists" to decide. And also keep in mind Ezekiel Emanuel’s ideas about changing the doctor’s oath and Obama’s Science Czar John Holdren’s book from the 1970s advocating sterilization of the water supply and forced abortions to limit population demand on resources.

6. Republicans don’t have an alternative plan
FACTCHECK!
Here is a great plan put forward by Rep Paul Ryan:

7. I can rely on FACTCHECK sites to sort out what is fact or fiction in the healthcare debate.
FACTCHECK!
No. Do your own research. Partisan interests on both sides, though mainly for Obama & Pelosi’s benefit have manipulated these pieces to "lobby" for their cause. Here is one conservative site that explains how it works:

A friend said that you do but I think hes getting confused with the need to be vetted before taking a dog from a rescue home as opposed to buying a puppy from a breeders. I know dog licenses used to exsist but I thought they’d been abolished

I am looking for a qualified veterinarian who is more interested in the quality of life for my cats than the quantity in his/her bank account. Since declawing is a horrendously cruel act done only for uninformed pet owners and fast money for the vet, I would like to find a vet who refuses to declaw. I want the health and comfort of my cats to come first. If you have a website with a list of such veterinarians, I would really appreciate it. The last vet I went to had just spayed a cat and performed 10 amputations on that poor cat at the same time – the cat had come back due to infections and not healing from this horrible trauma. I asked the pet owner why he would do such a thing, and he said it was either declaw or get rid of the cat – so why didn’t he give the cat to a shelter where she could find a person to love her? The poor cat couldn’t even stand up. I never want to witness such cruelty again on a visit to a vet.

Some of you are responding that I might someday choose to declaw my cats or that the vet may sneak my cat to the back and do this. I am only interested in a vet who will not declaw a cat because I believe that he would make better decisions about my cat if one of them was sick. I need a vet I can trust. I can’t trust a vet who declaws cats. It’s just that simple. I have never, nor would I ever declaw any cat. God made them with claws and that’s the way mine will remain for always. I don’t have disciplinary problems with my cats because I taught them by love and praise. They don’t want to do anything that might make me unhappy. They are wonderful cats and deserve a vet who is equally wonderful. I hope this helps to clarify that I’m looking for a vet who doesn’t believe that declawing is a solution and therefore I could trust to take great care to make sure my cats are healthy and never hurt. By the way, for those mentioning Downers Grove, a name please? Thanks so much!
Thank you for loving and caring enough about animals to not want to cause them unnecessary pain and abuse for convenience as some have quoted. It seems from the response that those who believe in declawing just don’t care what their pet feels. I question their right to have a pet at all. A special thank you for caring to Batgirl, Maria P, RuneAmok, Kath, Kat, Puppy Zwolle. I do appreciate your support in locating a qualified and humane vet, but more importantly, thank you for caring about the quality of life for animals. Our pets are not just hairy objects to cuddle when we need comfort, they’re family members who feel the same pain physically and emotionally as we do. For those of you who think declawing is just fine, you should have your fingers and toes cut off and see if you can function as normal. It would stop hurting in a couple of weeks and then you could figure out how to scratch an itch or pick your nose. You don’t deserve a pet.
