I’ve heard that litter is toxic to kittens, especially the clumping kind. My mom got some new litter for my kittens today and it was Fresh Step. Before today my kittens had been using an all natural wood based chip litter (It had Disney’s ARistocats on the bag) which they had taken to quite well. After that we got them a non-clumping flakey cheap brand liter that they took to also.

My girl kitten, Morgana shows very little interest in the liter. She’s only just now learning to do her business and run. My boy, Merlin used to just do his business and run also, however, since my mother bought the Fresh Stop Merlin keeps trying to EAT the liter, not poo/pee in it! Though he peed in it ONCE so that is really gross that he is trying to eat slightly used liter! :/

After hearing liter was toxic to kittens I panicked and pulled the liter out of his mouth every time he would bite it. I sit beside him when he is in the box and EVERY time he attempts to eat the liter and I take it away and he gets fussy.

So is it bad if my Merlin eats the Fresh Step liter? He never ate liter before but he seems intent on taking nibbles on the FS everhy time he is in contact with it. He even tries to lick the dusty residue off the side of the bag holding the liter in the tray (for easy liter removal lol). I don’t want him to get sick or have any issues. Is it that FS has some sort of attractive scent that smells tasty to him?

Either way the FS is about to be tossed out when I can get some more of the wood liter they had previously (tomorrow). I just want to know if the little bits he has managed to ingest before I could get them away from him will hurt him…

My 2 year old kitty has been tested for "Feline Leukemia Virus" Everything came out normal for the test (Thank God) I didn’t want to go through that again with a cat. Anyway, does it make a cat sore after having the test? Seems like she’s in a bad mood…Hissing and growling at the poor dogs and she’s walking kinda slow. They never told me anything at the vets if she was going to be sore or not and they were pretty busy.

For those who had the test done for their cats, let me know if there is side affects after the test?

Ok I am getting a horse soon, and my aunts and grandparents are offering to pay for the vet farrier and dentist.

I already know my board is going to be 0. That will include two outdoor rings, a nice indoor ring, many large pastures, a nice stall, and feeding.

I will also be buying my own de-wormer for a tube.

Are there any other fees that I will need regularly like Insurance, etc?

I am in Sarver/Cabot Pa.

My husband may be getting a job their soon…frankly, though, california is one of the last places I ever wanted to live. From what I know, it is polluted, crowded, expensive and full of botox barbies…not what I had in mind. Can someone who lives there tell me about any more family friendly areas? Are they supportive of breastfeeding? Homebirthing, midwives, delayed vaccinations? Are many places pet friendly? What is there to go do with a toddler without worrying about the area? I know I may seem overly paranoid but I have heard very little I like about the place outside of surfing…and even then I have to worry about my little boy seeing a bunch of people with not enough on…
Please someone, have some good news to help me ease my mind!

I have 4 dogs, 35lbs, 50lbs, 75lbs and an 8-month old lab that is pushing 85lbs! I want to buy them new dog beds, they good kind, not the kind that are flat as a pancake after a few weeks!!! I would prefer the kind that I can take the covers off of and wash. Anyone have good suggestions??? Oh, 3 of the dogs shed!!!!
Our dogs would love to sleep in the bed with us too, but 2 people, 2 cats and 4 dogs doesn’t make for a good nights sleep…and least not for the people!
Actually, my dogs are very picky about their beds. Whenever I buy new ones, and I do that WAY too often because I have bought the cheap ones that flatten out, they love it. They will pick "their" bed and sleep only on that one (even though there are 4) until they get a new one! I know, they are high maintenance, but so am I! They are rescue pups and I want to give them a good life…even though they may be happy just sleeping on the floor…

I got a puppy GSD a little while ago he was 4 months when i got him he is almost 7 now. I haven’t had the chance to take him to the vet yet but i plan to asap i will call and make an appointment tomorrow morning. Anyways about how much will this cost. it is my first time he isnt registered yet, i also plan to do i have been very busy, and he doesnt have insurance. Under vaccines on his veterinary health certificate(the breeder i bought him from gave it to me) it says LCI-GP and also DURAAMUNE Max 5. im not sure what they are but i guess he had 2 shots already? What other shots will he need how much for everything including the shots? and will i be able to ask the vet specific thing to check out like the pink spot on his lip and a spot where i pulled a tick off of him and not be charged extra?

As a future career, I would like to be a veterinarian for cats and dogs. Would it also be possible to be that and a veterinary pathologist at the same time? How much schooling would it take?

I have read that it is essential in the breeding process, but I have a very experienced male that has stopped the neck biting, but is still in breeding position. He always bit the back of the neck before, but I noticed over the past week that he isn’t anymore.

I was in a bad accident about eight months ago in which both of us suffered pretty badly.

I was going down interstate 80 when a women pulled into the road right in front of me and to make a long story short she ended up passing away from her injuries and I ended up with a broken arm and knee cap. Now it is indeed sad that the woman passed away but the traffic cam clearly picked her up trying to beat me to the on-ramp.

Now if it were just me getting hurt I wouldn’t mind, I got good health insurance and I can always buy a new car but, the problem was; that I had my Dog "Osiris" in the car with me. Osiris’s ended up getting his front right leg crushed between the dash and slider bar. My dad told me when he got up to the hospital that our family vet was calling and had asked me if I wanted Osiris to be put down or operated on to fix his leg. Now you got to understand is that Osiris is like a beloved son to me so I had no choice but to tell them to work on him. In the end though the couldn’t save the leg and he needed to have the leg completely removed.

Now ever since he could get out and about better he seems like he is depressed. He doesn’t play or "Puppy Hug" anymore… he just sits in his bed and watches TV and makes sighing noises. It is clear he is depressed about the situation and I wonder if it wouldn’t have been better for him to have been put down… being how sad he is now and all now.

Did I make the right choice and is there something I can do to bring the puppy back out in him?
