I look out for the strays in my neighborhood. A young male was recently injured so I captured him and am treating his eye. I feel like he’s never had anyone to love him. I don’t know if I can keep him because I seem allergic to this one. Plus I have two other males in the house. If I take him to the ASPCA he could get a home, but if he has leukemia, I’m sure he’ll get put to sleep without option of taking him back. It’s so sad that animals who haven’t been loved have such a fate. Should I pay the vet bills myself and just try to get him a home?

If anyone has experience with making claims through pet insurance, I’d really appreciate you giving me some info. I am filing my first claim and am worried that they will call and find out that my dog’s condition was somewhat preexisting. While getting her 3rd round of puppy shots, my vet noticed a place where my puppy had been scratching. He thought it could be a food allergy or just something irritating her skin so he put her on antibiotics to keep it from getting infected. Now, a couple weeks later, she has bumps and lesions. They did a skin scraping and although they didn’t find mites, treated her for scabies due to the pattern and looks of her inflammation. I got pet insurance between the two visits. In your experience, will they call my vet to get more info & if so, do you think the claim will be denied? Thanks!

My cat hasn't been acting himself…?

I took him to the vet yesterday, and the vet said If I hadn’t insisted that he was sick, he would’ve sent him home with a clean bill of health. His temp. was good, his heart sounded great, no abnormalities with his organs (at least nothing swollen) and hes a healthy 13 lbs. Hes 8 or 9 years old, and has bad teeth. Vet gave him a dose of antibiotics, and said if he starts acting better within the next few days it’s most likely his teeth. Which if that’s the case I’ll schedule an appointment and have them extracted. If not then I will have blood work ran. I also let him know I had a cat who had feline AIDs and passed away 2 years ago. He said as long as they didn’t get into fights, that most likely wasn’t it.
Well today I noticed him walking with his back arched… So I looked it up online and someone said dogs and cats will arch their backs when their stomachs bothering him… I didn’t think to mention it to the vet, but he had been sniffing around, and eating random things off the floor lately. Could this be whats wrong with him?
Symptoms:
Arching back while walking.
Laying in places he normally wouldn’t.
Acting like he can’t or doesn’t want to jump onto the furniture.
Not coming when called. (He use to take ANY opportunity for lovens.)
Has cried when picked up, or scratched on is bottom.
HAS been eating and drinking, but not for very long at a time. He acts as if he needs to lay back down.

Any ideas or suggestions? :/

I have rectal cancer, which invaded my vagina, and has spread to my lungs.I have had major surgery 11/03,radiation and chemo. This started 7 months after we met.He promised he would take me in and take care of me.We had an active sex life before this – now I have a colostomy, am on pain meds; the treatments have destroyed my pelvic area and caused early menopause.I’m 53; he’s 58.He had me move in with him so he would take care of me, which he has gladly done until about a month ago. That’s when he met this married woman, while walking the dog. I was laid off from work(RN)months before my diagnosis, but I have paid every penny of my medical expenses – he has chosen not to have any health insurance. He works from home so he would be with me, and so he could work on politics and remodel the house all at the same time. I do as much as I can, but I’ve been on SSI for 2 years. Both of us are tired of the Cancer – is this my reward for surviving? I feel betrayed. He says he loves me.

What to do about a kitten with no vaccinations?

My husband and I are planning to add a new kitty to our family. We have the money, the space, the time, and the love required to take care of another cat, so there’s no worries about that, but what worries me is the idea of him being in the house for even a day without vaccinations around our other two cats.

You see, my husbands friend from our hometown recently rescued a stray cat, and when he took her to the vet to be fixed, he found out she was pregnant. He decided to let her have the litter and once the kittens were old enough they’d go to the no kill shelter. He’s already called and they have an "appointment" to be dropped off at the shelter when they’re 8 weeks old. He told us that if we wanted a kitten, we could have one before he took the others to the shelter.

We picked out a small white male with black spots (he’s adorable) and we’re very excited to bring him home, but the problem is, our hometown is 3 hours away from our current home. The driving isn’t an issue, and we have a pet carrier and all that, but we have to go down on a day that we both have off work, and the soonest available day is on a Sunday. Our vet’s office isn’t open on Sundays, so at the very least, he’ll be in our house overnight without the opportunity to get him his vaccinations.

My question is, will my other two cats be okay if I lock the new kiddo in a separate room until he gets his vaccinations? Both Cora and Callie have had their FeLV, Rabies, and Distemper vaccinations updated within the past few months, and they’d be in a completely different room of the house. The mother of the kittens has been tested and is not a carrier of FeLV, Rabies, or Distemper, but as we cannot verify who the sire is, we don’t know if he was a carrier of any of these diseases.

Will my girls be safe if he’s quarantined? I don’t feel it’s fair to ask my husband’s friend to shoulder the expense of getting the kitten vaccinations, especially if quarantining the kitten in a different room would be safe. I understand I can reimburse my husband’s friend, and if that’s the only solution that will work, I’ll have to set something up with him, but if there’s a way to do this without overextending his generosity, I’d like to handle the situation that way.

Your answer is appreciated! Thank you!

Why do I want to be pregnant?

I’m 20 yrs old attending college. I have aspirations to own my own business, preferably a little boutique, or perhaps an online business. I currently live with my boyfriend of two years. We have steady income, a nice 2 bedroom apartment (the other bedroom is an office), health insurance, life insurance, and 2 beautiful dogs (I call them my babies) We have two vehicles. He works and I go to school. We are completely dependant on each other, and do not rely on anyone else for support. We’re practically married, and yet we’re not. Partially because I’m not ready for that commitment right now, going to school and all. Mostly because I’m positive people would look negatively at me marrying at such a young age. I’m responsible, taking my birth control pills, and yet every month I wish they would fail and I would get pregnant. Realistically, I know I could handle the pressure and raise a child at this point in my life, However, I know 20 is just not a "good" age to get pregnant at. (and I know how negatively it would affect other peoples views of me, being pregnant at 20 and not married.) I know my parents are practically expecting me to get pregnant anytime now, with me living with my boyfriend. Anytime I’m nauseous its immediately take a test! you might be pregnant!" Is this just typical hormones telling my body I’m ready to be a mother or is this just a lack of excitement in my life wanting something new? Has anyone else had this feeling? What do you think about the situation?
Its not him about the commitment. Honestlly hes asked me, but I have said to wait until after I graduate. Maybe I would like to be married, but thats a choice I make. "accidently" becoming pregnant is a choice I cant make, thus making it look like im NOT an idiot getting married while im in college.
See answer number 8. Thats exactly what my brain keeps telling me. "common sense". The feelings of wanting to get pregnant is overpowering and yet I think in my head "what AM I thinking! Im only 20!". Its just a battle between what I know & feel.
ps. I tried telling my grandparents I was going to get married to my boyfriend, and they told me, "not to him! hes an idiot! and you’re too young to get married anyways. finish school first, find yourself a better boyfriend!". My boyfriend dropped out of college, and is working as a maintenance worker. Obviously, they think I can do better. Me personally, am happy with our situation, and although hes not "educated" and he wont be "rich", he’s still a good lover.

say if I gave my dog a rabies vaccination and it was walking down the street or something and it got attacked by one will it not have rabies if it was bitten? thanks(:

On my personal dogs rabies certificate it lists my personal vets name and license number. With the vet I use for my rescue dogs (I run my own rescue) on their rabies certificate it lists the vets name but no license number. Is that anything to be concerned about?
My question is more that the vet’s license number (with the state) is not listed on the rabies certificate.
