I was diagnosed with lyme and the only medication I had was two weeks of doxycycline. I understand that there is more to the treatment than that. I have so many symptoms of lyme and even some of the coinfections. But my doctor just shrugs me off .I have an appointment with the infectuous disease doctor, but it’s a month away. And I don’t know of any llmds in San Diego.

I foster cats and two of my foster cats are feline leukemia positive 6 month old kittens. They are completely healthy now. They are extremely playful and very friendly kittens. Where would I find a foster group that has space for this wonderful kittens?

My Boston Terrier just pied on a new bed that I got him today. Hes about 11 mounts old. I’m not sure if its natural in some dogs or if its just him.

I wasn’t home to witness this but my 9 month old female pom injured herself while playing at home with her male companion (pom also) while my hubby was home. She came around the corner limping. I knew it was broken because it was dangling at a weird angle so I took her to the emergency room. I had a wake up call as to how much it cost to own a dog. For a board certified orthopedic vet, it cost about 00-00. I decided to take her to her own vet instead who charged around 8-00.

I’m worried with this breed with a congenital defect of having patellar luxation that I may have to pay 00 or more later on to get it fix. I know as a dog owner, it’s our responsibility to take care of them. Even with dog insurance, they wont’ cover congential defects. What do people do if they can’t afford it? I’m really stressed out now.

My other dog died from pneumonia a few months back and that cost a pretty penny before his passing. I know I can’t place a price on their health but I can’t afford it and my husband won’t allow me to give them to people who can afford it. What do you think?

I am maxed out in credit and I don’t want to put the dog down at least not for a broken leg…maybe if it has terminal illness.
It cost alot because of anesthesia, hospitalization, drugs, etc. Also, if a fracture is near a joint, you can’t put a cast on it. It has to be surgically repaired.
I’m paying for her injuries and I’m not putting her down just cuz of a broken leg. My whole point is pets are expensive and I’m not so sure if I want to keep them due to future expenses that is all. Thanks for all your input!

Our dog is 1 1/2 years old. She has a very shiny coat but sheds in excess. Is there a reason for this excessive shedding? Can anything be done to stop this? She is a small breed and short hair.

After my 4th hospital in 3days finally i was diagnosed as having Lyme Desease. Still waiting for blood test tho. Its retained in my lower legs. It has swelled up but not much. Day` 2 of meds and the rash is gone already.

Im looking to get my female labrador insured and so far have narrowed it down to either Esure or LV. Who have you got insurance with? or who would you recommend?

..can they still get heart-worms and tape worms (and such)?
Just wondering if there is any way to prevent your pet from getting infected. I do understand there is vaccinations for dogs against heart-worm, but—what about the other infections?

Do pet bunnies shed? I currently have a long haired guinea pig who I can’t hold because her fur gets all over my shirt and she sheds alot (like a cat) and I get allergic to her! Would a pet bunnie be any different?

I have PTSD and 9 yrs ago my Doctor suggested I get a companion dog to help me with several issues that are associated with the PTSD(depression, seclusion, etc) At the time I had been with the same guy for several years and we were financially set. Well 3 years ago we split, but he still helped me with vets bills. This past October he passed away and I can no longer afford the vet costs. I have no clue what to do! My dog is a 9 yr old Italian Greyhound(we adopted him) he is in need of shot updates and needs teeth pulled and cleaned along with a few growths that have me worried. I feel like wicked shit because my dog has done so much for me and I can no longer afford to give him proper vet care. I can afford everything else he needs and have always taken great care of him. I know some of you people out there will say give him up if you can’t afford him. Well I have already had it go through my mind and if there is no way for me get him the care I will. I just think it stinks that we have had each other for over 9yrs and due to a hardship we would have to separate! Also due to his age it would be hard for him to be placed!
So my questions are:
1) Due to the fact he is a companion animal and I have a Doctors note for him
would/should my health insurance help cover his vet costs?

2) Does anyone know of any programs in Massachusetts that could help me with this
problem?

Also I am considered low-income and have been determined disabled.
Please help me find away to keep my dog, he means the world to me.
