My boss allows dogs at work. One dog was just diagnosed with lyme disease. I have 2 cats at home. Should I not touch the dog? Can I somehow get my cats sick from being in contact with a dog with lyme disease?
I love all my baby’s but hate their hair. it is everywhere i do not allow them on the sofa nor the bed. but some how its there, and i have to sweep 4 times a week to keep my house somewhat hair free. sweeping will kill you especially when my house is 3200 sq ft and all tile and wood floors. i have 4 large dogs and 3 cats that spend most their time inside. DOES ANYONE HAVE A IDEA OR KNOW OF ANY DEVICES THAT WORK GOOD FOR GETTING IT UP EASIER THAN SWEEPING? I have a pet hair vac but it actually makes things worse by spitting some back out from underneath even after ive completely cleaned it out.
I am in need of LOW COST veterinary care in my area. I live just south of Detroit, so anywhere within 150 miles I would be willing to travel. I got laid off and my current job is low income, I don’t even have insurance for myself.
My dog needs teeth cleaning from heavy plaque and tartar build up on his upper back teeth, which was estimated at two local vets to be between 4 and 0! I cannot even afford my own dental care. I also want to test to see if he has a bladder infection.
I am concerned about my dog. He is a 9 year old Silk Terrier (Yorkie family).
As a yorkie, Skeeter has always had problems peeing in the house on occasion. It has never been a huge problem; they have small bladders, I have wood floors.
But last night he did something unexpected. I woke up at 6am to him shivering like he was scared or cold (he sleeps in the bed with me usually up by my head). As I went to turn over to move him to the end of the bed, I felt something dripping off of my neck, back and arm.. then I smelled it.. he urinated in the bed and all over the side of my head back and arm…
I want to get urine and blood tests done. He is a healthy, VERY hyper, active, friendly dog. I don’t understand why he did this.
Any help would be great.

I already tried the Humane Society, and they are no more low cost than any normal clinic. The only low cost service they provide is neuter/ spay which all of my animals already are.
I found a kiiten a week ago and she has leukimia but it is dorment at the moment. However, I must get rid of her because I have another cat in my house and leukemia can spread between felines. I am having to keep her outside in the cold. Should I put her down? I am having a hard time finding her a home and she is the sweetest thing, help!
I just adopted my pet rabbit and going to take him for an annual check & vaccination. Does anyone know where can I find a rabbit specialist in my area? I’m living in Fulham. Thanks for your help!!

ME: one of my cats was poisoned by melamine-laced cat food (IAMS) in 2007.
It took a week in the hospital w/IV, and then four months of daily subQ fluids, but she ‘recovered’.
We sent IAMS copies of our related vet bills, and they coughed up a check.
We also had pet health insurance.
The incident made me pay much closer attention about what food I choose for my pets.
I’ve got two 1 year old dogs who eat raw meaty bones, including chicken, all the time, with no incidents.
Irony is – this recall is political. Healthy dogs are remarkably resistant to salmonella.
This has happened before with other
dog foods – the manufacturers often refuse the recall and then finally caves under political pressure.
That’s why this recall is ‘voluntary’
I really need professonal advice on this one. I’ve gone through three vacuums in nine months, all of which were Bissel and Dirt Devil. I can’t afford a Dyson or an Electrolux … any ideas??
We rescued a litter of Kittens that were left abandoned after coyote got their mother. We bottle them for 4 weeks and got them checked by our vet. They were on antibiotics as a precaution. We had done and they tested negative for Feline Leukemia. Today we got a call from one of the new owners that they had their kitten t the vet for shots and it tested positive for FL.
So my question is, is a false positive or false negative test more likely AND how soon should the kitten be retested?

It’s so easy for a woman to find a mate, sex, a date, cuz she doesn’t have to do anything for it, just keep herself up and go out some. A man has to face refection; many men fear it too much to ever make a move and are always lonely.

However, men are the greatest contributors to science, technology, mathematics, literature, and just about everything else. We are inventors. Yet, our worth is tied up in what we can do, not in what we are in essence. It’s bullshit!

Oh yeah, and women can now work in the same fields, have the same careers, jobs as men, and get paid the same or more but not have to do as much. Say, Military service for instance; a woman can join, get her college taken care of, and have all benefits just like a man, but never have to go to combat! There’s a problem with the whole sports things! Becoming a professional athlete is like winning the lottery. however, just about any average to beautiful girl can become something in adult entertainment. Most people don’t think much about it, but a woman has options, no matter how people look at things. A woman can become a stripper, prostitute, web cam model, (openings for men usually are gay oriented, talking straight, "normal" people). There is always an option to take care of a woman, no matter who high or low of a lifestyle it may seem. Hmmm, what si there for the average male, equivalent, selling dope I guess, but not really. Most women do porn cuz they want to, not due to some sob story, or become hookers; why, the money is 10X what a lawyer or dr makes just for layin on your back. By pets I mean dogs, cats etc, not just fish/hutched animals.
My brother did because my dog won’t sleep alone so he lays next to her then she falls asleep and he goes back to his bed but one time he fell asleep next to her in her sleeping place in the garage and my mom said I won’t have my son sleeping in a garage so now our dog is spoiled and aloud on couches and beds and sleeps next to my brother and others sometimes. She is very sweet,friendlily and affectionate.
i know it is gross, but i’m loosing quality of life here…. this has been going off and on (in increasing in the number of episodes) for 1 1/2 months now. i eat VERY healthy. i eat whole grains, veggies, drink 100% fruit juice, eat lean meats. occasionally i will indulge in the rare bleached/enriched flour product, or even more rare, the occasional red meat product… but this is soooooo rare. it seems as though no matter what i eat i have an episode. i did used to put habinero sauce on my food. but since the episodes i’ve stopped (for obvious reasons). i stopped using the sauce fairly recently though, as it was not effecting me until recently. either way, i’m starting to feel very sick, and i can’t go to the doctor because i have no health insurance. my husband and i are both broke college students. i drink plenty of water, never drink alcohol, and i quit smoking a year ago. i’m trying to decrease the amount of fat in what i eat (i’ve noticed a correlation in that area), but it seems as though if i have so much as a hot dog or hamburger i’m in the bathroom at least 4 times. and i’m talking low fat hot dog, and the burger was 80/20 made on the george forman grill. please offer me any tips you can! i drink water constantly, and eat tons of fiber rich foods. there is no explainable reason as to why this is happening. its not the way i prep my food either, b/c my husband is not getting sick.

i’m really on the side of the fence that says one should have their 8 glasses of water a day. i’ve been like that my whole life. i’m 26, average weight, and this is the first time this has ever happened to me. i would think if that were the issue it would have happened years ago.

i can’t go to the doctor… no $$$ and no insurance. i just need to know what types of things could cause it, so i know what to avoid or get more of.
I’m considering having my 4 dogs microchipped, because their rabies/license tags either break off, or the ring they’re on weakens and comes uncoiled.
Also, is microchipping a once-in-a-life-time thing, or will they have to get microchipped every few years?
Most of you pointed out prices for small-breed dogs. I have 4 american pit bulls, so I’d imagine then that the price will probably be at least per dog.
