I have kind of thick carpet and two very sheddy cats. I can never seem to get it all out and my son is all ways covered in it it seems. Can anyone help?

I suggest you should get a better vacuum, one that is designed for or has high consumer ratings for pet hair removal. Of course, vacuums can’t possibly get every last hair, but I find lint brushes work very well, on carpets, sofas, and clothes. I always keep a lint brush in the car to get spots missed in the house.
One of my cats, a ten year old, short haired black and white female, Oreo, sheds extremely during the spring/summer time and she actually enjoys being lint brushed, she’ll go thru about 15 sheets a day if I have the time to brush her. But if your cats aren’t crazy like mine, a regular cat brush could help reduce shedding.
Your best bet would be to get a different carpet. But, in the interium try putting 1/3 cup of fabric softner in a spray bottle then fill the bottle with water, spray the carpet, then vaccuum, this may help, I use fabric softener sheets to get the hairs off of furniture, I also have a very powerful vaccuum.
try a better vaccum and try arm & hammers pet hair release carpet powder, it helps alot. also, vaccum everyday if possible.
Well, it will take forever and be a big pain but if you take a wet sponge and a bucket of water to rinse the sponge, you can get alot up like that. Not all the hair, though. And it WILL be time consuming. Good luck. Works on upholstered furniture, too.
If you get your carpet wet or damp and then plug in an ELECTRIC VACCUMN cleaner, you run the risk of getting a shock…. just take a fabric softener sheet in your hand and RUB IT across the rug where the cat hairs are—if you have a couple of kids—give each one a sheet and have them help you—it automatically will get the cat hair up because the cat hair will CLING to the sheet—do this on a DRY CARPET—works like a charm, no risk of electric shock to ANYONE and after, the rug even smells pretty good…
Try with sticky tape…it might take sime time, but sometimes works
The best things I have found are one a slicker brush and the other is a dog rake. I do over the carpet with either of those and then vacuum. That works really well on stairs. All the best;^)
Try the Arm & Hammer pet hair release powder…it really does help. Vaccuum every day or every other day, and don’t use carpet cleaning soap if you ever shampoo your carpets – it makes them sticky and they will attract more hair & dirt. I use plain vinegar + just a capful of liquid fabric softener in the steam cleaner and I rarely have a pet hair problem.
try a broom first to loosen the hairs, then vacuum, and brush your cats more, every hair in the brush is one less on the kids and carpets.
I used to use a broom with rubber bristles to sweep the carpet on my stairs and found that really effective. (Don’t know what vacuum you use, but the Dyson is particularly powerful)
i had the same problem and i got rid of the carpet. carpets trap not only hair but dust as well. so now i vacuum and swifter my floors once a week and its so much cleaner.
