How much on average does a cat cost?
1) What equiptment do you need for a kitten and on average how much is this?
2) How many times a year does the kitten/ cat need vaccinations and to see a vet? On average how much is it?
3) What other costs are there apart from the kitten (which should bearound £80?)
What are some of the cots for a cat? Costs of vaccinations? Ragdoll kitty info? Cat/Kitty tips? ?
If anyone answered any of my questions before, you would all know that first i was planning on getting a dog, then a rabbit and then a ferret…but since i cant get a dog , my mom doesnt like rabbits or ferrets…i have decided that cats are the most awesome
I have owned a cat before but for only a month, i thought it was a stray so i took it to my house and had it for a month while i was looking for its owners with my mom (cause i thought someone probably lost it ) , turns out it was lost for over two months . While i had it i fed it, i got it a carrier , bed, food, food bowls, toys , brushes and litter things…so i pretty much know what it takes to have a cat in the house ..
So back to my questions..Im planning to get a cat in January/February . I am definitely going to get a Ragdoll cat ( i love the breed, and it suits my life ) Im for sure going to buy all its toys..litter..food etc, but some of my questions are :
What is an average price of owning a kitten from the age of like 12-15 weeks or older?
If any of you guys live in Vancouver do you know the prices for Vaccinations, yearly check ups, neuter / spaying , or even if you arent from Vancouver then tell me about the prices where you live? The average cost it would be if i just got a kitten and payed for all the vaccinations etc..?
Any Ragdoll kitty info? Anything special about that breed like extra vaccinations maybe? Or just tell me about your expirience with Ragdoll kitties..
& please dont think im not seriously considering everything about cats because i am, and ive read alot about the breed itself (ragdolls) and ive learned alot in the past month..
+ Im going to leave my house at 8 am, and get home at 4 pm cause i still go to school ( im only 14 ) and is it okay having a cat if im away that long ? ( i know cats are independent , but what about the schedule for kittens if they are only 15 weeks? )
( + i might get it in the very beginning of January, so i will have it over the holidays (they last until like the 20th of January) so the kitten will get time to get used to the place and i will have time to do kitten things , haha )
+ Im also getting it from a breeder.
PS: If anyone is actually interested inreally helping me with all my questions or if you have alot of expirience with Ragdoll cats please write that in your answer so i know you want to help me with some other questions so i can give you my email if you want so you can contact me later.
I know this is super long , but please take the time to answer if you can ..i would really appreciate it
Thanks .
I actually thought breeders were good (some ) like those who rarely have kittens cause they do love their cats and theirs back yard breedings . And yeah ofcourse, if i can find a ragdoll to adopt i would adopt it ASAP
i love the animal shelter (me and my friend go there once a week to play with the animals )
Cat with no vaccinations?
I have just got a cat. She is 6 months old. Is she still classed a "kitten". Also i have a 2 year old child. Is it ok to be around the cat without it having its vaccinations. Also should the cat be eating adult cat food or kitten food? I have looked at a few sites but nothing is too clear. What about worming?Should that be done now. One more thing is it normal for a cat to poop around the house. Just this morning found one in the sitting room. EHHH… litter box at the back door.
please help.
Thank you to you she will be getting immunised asap.
What vaccinations do cats need and how often?
My cat hasn’t been seen by a vet in 4 yrs.. Will he be required to get a ton of shots when I take him next? and how often should I take a housecat for checkup/shots?
How much are cats vaccinations?
I have a new kitten, and I was curious how much are cats vaccinations? I don’t know anything about what shots they get or need.. So please someone help educate my mind, thank you! (:
I live in Phoenix, AZ.
has anyone ever heard of a cat having reactions to vaccinations?
My 4 year old female cat was given 2 shots yesterday at her vet visit and I wasn’t even told what and why, he did it so fast without even asking! He said they were rabies and distemper. A couple hours later she became very lethargic, and didn’t move, she looked like she was feeling horrible. Usually she’s vocal and seeking attention, very affectionate, follows me around. She wouldn’t eat, either. She’s still not herself, and I called the vet, they said it happens sometimes? I’m furious and I feel so badly for my cat.
Cat Vaccinations. I am so CONFUSED!?
My vet says our two cats need shots again. Just 1 yr ago they got some done. The new kitten (1 yr old now) got her last FVRCP Booster and exam. She was supposed to get rabies but I think they somehow MISSED it.
The other, who is 3.5 yrs old got her FVRCP and Rabies and exam at that visit.
They say they are both due for FVCRP and Rabies again. Is this right? They used the 1 yr rabies, but I’ve read this is typically done every three years. Do they need the FVCRP yearly? I am trying to figure out if they actually need all of these or if they only need some of these.
I don’t want to over vaccinate or spend money if they don’t need certain ones. I have tried to research this but it’s all too confusing and there’s a lot of contradictory info out there. They are strictly indoor cats as well.
Thanks!
And they are both spayed females if that makes any difference.
Wow, wish my vet threw in vac’s for free. They get expensive. We are moving out of state next week, thus we felt it important for them to get up to date prior to leaving. I guess I am still unsure if the FVRCP is needed at this point??
Rabies yes, because they somehow forgot for one, and the other was yearly only. I asked about the 3 yr for this visit and they said they don’t recommend the 3 yr rabies because of a cancer risk?- but I should talk with the vet at the visit.
Cat vaccinations: Does an older cat that's never been vaccinated actually need it?
I’d like to read what people think of this. If you can provide links to read that would be great.
Here’s a little back story: I just got 2 cats that have been living outside on a farm for years. They’ve eaten mice, birds, snakes, whatever they could catch. They’ve been exposed to domestic dogs, coyotes, wild rabbits and other cats and they’ve never gotten sick. I plan to get them rabies shots since it’s the law. However I talked to a local vet who doesn’t do vaccines. He treats cat with specialized diet and homeopathy, then if the illness doesn’t respond he’ll use standard meds. He says since they’ve never been vaccinated and they’re already at least 7 years old, they don’t need it and it will actually do more harm than good. (Feline leukemia vaccine specifically.) Have you heard this argument? If so, what’s your opinion on it?
How long after giving a cat a vaccination does it take for the cat to be immune?
How long after giving a cat a vaccination does it take for the cat to be immune to the disease that it was just vaccinated for?
What vaccinations do indoor cats need?
I take my two cats to get vaccinations yearly, but I often wonder if they really need all of them since they are indoor only cats. I know that there is a possibility of them escaping at one point or another, but I worry about giving them too many shots that they don’t really need if they’re indoor only. Does anyone know which shots they do and don’t need? Thanks for your advice!
Can my cat get vaccinations if she is sick or has an infection?
I’m taking my cat to the vet tomorrow b/c one of her eyes is red and she can’t seem to open it. she may have a scratch or an infection, or she may have a virus and be sick. I am also due to get her fvrcp vaccinations. Can she get her vaccinations if she is sick? I don’t want to give them to her if they will react strangely w/ any antibiotics the vet may put her on or if they will be too "strong" for her at this time b/c she is sick. does anyone know anything about this or any studies that have been done? thanks!
Question about Cat Vaccinations?
Can they be done all at once?
What vaccinations would you recommend, getting a 6 year old cat?
He’s an inside cat ONLY. He will probably never come in contact with another cat. The only time he ever goes outside, is to rest on our balcony. I adopted him from a shelter recently, and here’s the list of everything he has been given when we adopted him: http://www.capeannanimalaid.com/newsite/adoptinfo.htm (Scroll down).
if my car is a indoor cat does she need her vaccinations?
