Dog Insurance Archives

I have fed my lab Purina Dog chow since the day I brought him home. My son says only feed him this kind of dog food or he will poop all over the garage while I am gone to work. My son was buying the dog food until he moved out about a week ago. I buy dog food in 50 lb bags 5 at a time. Its on sale now so I am thinking about getting a couple more bags.
My friend told me he gets his dog generic dog food and it works just as well and is cheaper. What is your take on dog food and should I just stick to the 50 lb bags of Purina Dog Chow?

I love dogs, and my heart keeps saying professional dog trainer when I think about what I want to do for a living. I am interested in knowing if I could become a trainer for the government (police k-9, military, drug dogs, search & rescue, etc.)? What type of degree do I need? How can I get started? I’m getting involved in Schutzhund, a dog sport similar to police dog training, and I really enjoy it (I’m a decoy, but trying to find out if I can shadow and aid the trainers). My mom needs to know if this career will have health insurance? How much could I make per year?
I need to know about health insurance because I’m diabetic.

Their dog food is so much cheaper than what we usually get at Tractor Supply. Is Powell’s dog food a good choice to feed our three dogs? And I’m not looking for Blue buffalo quality or anything like that. We usually by "Retriever Mini Chunk" dog food, so does anyone know how Powell’s dog food would compare?

Why don’t they put a taste into dog food that dogs will really look forward to eating.

I get the impression that my dog eats his dog food only because he’s hungry not because he like the taste of it.

With today’s technology they should be able to make dog food have a taste dogs will find so delicious. That dogs will prefer their food to people food

Its easier said than done.
It hard to look at my dog staring at my food with a hungry yearning look on his face.

I have 5 dogs, and I have been feeding them Blue Buffalo canned dog foods along with Blue Buffalo dry foods. The food is rather expensive though, and I can no longer afford to pay so much for their food. I do not want to feed them a crappy low quality food with fillers and by-products, but I cannot afford to buy them the absolute healthiest of foods. What would be a good food to feed them that won’t break my bank?

What type of dog food would you recommend?

Personally I like Innova dog food for my dog. However, my cousin is going to be working at Petco and he can get a discount for whatever dog food he purchases from there. What, if any, dog food brands would you recommend from Petco. Ones without by products and cornmeal in them. What do you guys think about Blue Buffalo or IAMS or Natural Balance, etc.
WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT PURINA ONE?

What should I do to clear up my credit?

A few years ago (2009) I lost my job and ended up defaulting on 3 credit cards, a phone bill, and medical bills (because I lost my health insurance and couldn’t afford to buy my own policy). I paid on them all for as long as I could while I looked for a job, but my savings ran out and I couldn’t pay on them anymore.

The Credit Cards have all been charged off as bad debit, as well as the phone bill, and the medical bills are in collections.

I have a new job, one that pays me pretty well, and I can afford to start paying off this debt, but I can’t pay it off in lump sums. The credit cards equal about 00 all together, the phone bill is 00 and the medical bills are about 00. I have other bills that need to be paid (rent, car payment/insurance, gas, phone, and dog expenses) as well, leaving me a couple hundred dollars each month to pay off this debt.

What is a good option for me to go with? I don’t want to go with one of those scam companies that I’m always hearing about. Would it be possible for me to get a loan to consolidate these debts into one and pay on it monthly? Is that even a good idea?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Also, while getting a second job would be a good way to bring in more income, I already work 60+ hours a week, so a second job is not possible.

health insurance for dogs?

does anyone know what insurance company covers surgery for dogs. ie. c-section. We went to visit the breeder and he said that my little pitty may have to have a c-section due to her being so "small" in that area.

Or does anyone know how much a c-section go for?
I am only breeding my pit because it was in the contract we signed wqhen we got her. Believe me if it was not in the contract she would have been spayed already.

She is only 1 year old and we are not breeding her untill her 3rd cycle or when she turns 2 which ever come first.

after that she will be spayed.

What is a good pet themed fundraiser?

I will ask this question in another section, but seeing as pet people are on this- I think you guys will have better ideas. One of our employees at the petstore I work at was in a serious car crash, to make stories short she will be in the hospital a very long time, and she has no health insurance. So we’ve put up donation boxes and what not and are setting up a chinese auction at our store, and a dinner down the road to help raise money. Being a pet store, and the place our friend loved to be at, we wanted to have some kind of pet themed, related, or something to that nature fun raiser. Do you have any ideas? Space is no problem so any ideas would be great, all I’ve come up with is a dog walk. And its the middle of winter here in 25 degree wheather! Thanks is Advance!

I posted a question yesterday about my 2 yr old chihuahua. he is normally a snuggly dog, doesn’t like out side much, would rather be under the blankets. But wednesday night i fed him so Cesar little bites, dog food. He ate it up! but that night i noticed he was restless. when i got up, he had pile after pile of vomit. the first piles (they looked the driest) was a burgundy color, with the chopped up corn and veggies, looked like his food but regurgitated. Every other vomit pile was white and frothy.maybe a little yellow(bile). I took his food away and forced him to drink. When my daughter got home ( he is so attached to her) he drank every time she took him there. You can tell he doesn’t feel 100%. I know how to check for dehydration, but not sure how much pedilyte to have him drink?

Now before anyone says anything, i treat my dogs like my children, they have nothing but the best! I even carried health insurance on the dogs( 2 Ebulldogs and my chi) but my husband lost his job,mid december and i couldn’t afford the permium (annual). I am currently paying more then i can afford to the care card. One of my bullies was attacked by a german shep. required 72 hrs ICU and many procedures. I have called the vet they said they couldn’t tell me over the phone, that i needed a vist. I don’t have 65.00 this week. and they wont bill me either.i had to pay my mortgage, and the kids insurance. He isnt vomiting today. i feed him a little bit of chicken that we had a few nights ago, he is eating it. what else can i do for him,
I carried insurance mainly for the english bulldogs, because they require a lot of care. the Cesar dog food was a treat, he normally eats beniful, but this was a coupon i had.(never do that again). i gave him chicken because i had read on a website, that boiled chicken and rice helps their stomach?

planter fasciitis help?

iv been haveing a sharp snapping pain in both of my arches for about 2 years. for about 2 years before the pain i used to run on my streets every night for an hour. like a ding dong i only stretched a little. and also like a ding dong i wouldn’t listen to my body when it ached and kept pushing my limit. lets just say my body was done running but my head wanted to run another mile. i finally had to stop when a tendon or whatever in my arches felt like they were snapping with each step. i got arch supports but that only helped a little. so i stopped and for 2 years i had to deal with the snapping feeling in my arches when i walked once in awhile. i finally got some better health insurance a few months ago and i went to the doc and she said it was planter fasciitis. and that i should stretch my legs every morning before i get out of bed and sign the abc’s with my feet.
i was wondering if there is more i can do. the doc said it could take up to 6 months before it heels but i have so much pent up energy i want to run soooo bad :/
iv been doing the stretches for about 2 months and its help alot but then i went snow showing a week ago and re injured my arches again so im afraid im back to square one.
just wondering can i run a little bit while im recovering? i just got a new dog 3 weeks ago and i haven’t been able to run him :(
any tips that will help recover my feet and if i can still run a little that would be awesome thank you :D
o and is it really 6 months :(
