Ok, so I i have narrowed down my choices of future pets. I believe these are the the cost for the first year (left side) and years after (right side). Are these prices accurate if I buy premium food, pet insurance (which will not cover medical problems, checkups, basic vaccines, trimmings, etc, just the emergencies (up to ,000 worth of covearage) and such, which will cost a month, basic vet bills (check ups, vaccines, etc), toys, treats (bones and treats for dogs), vitamins, transporting materials, live plants (for fish), and all that stuff.

1 Oscar ( in an aqurium to itself, of 50-60 gallons) 0, 0
1 or 2 Hamsters 0, 0 each
Fresh Water aqarium 0, 0
1 or 2 Guanea Pigs 0, 0 each
1 or 2 Cats ,800, 0 each
Marine aqarium ,700, 0
1 or 2 Dogs ,000, ,200 each
A second Oscar (in a separate tank) with a 3rd tank for the fry.

P.S. I will not get all these pets. I will care for all these pets with my (will be continued soon)
own money. I will read a few books before I purchase any pets, and will buy the ones I can afford at as slow pace.
It’s been 40 minutes now. Wht won’t anyone give me an answer, what is it true that nobody keeps track of their finances anymore?

I’m new to the working world and I’m still focused on college when I was cheap. I feel overwhelmed and guilty when I spend money. I’m not sure if I’m being wasteful or not. Here’s where I stand…

,830/month after taxes – Insurance/Phone/Rent/Utilities(0)= ,130/month

0 – 401k like plan (taken out before the 00 total)
0 – IRA
0 – Money Market Fund (future wedding/honeymoon –3 months emergency there too)
0 – savings (plane tickets, small expenses that may come up so I don’t have to dig into emergency, etc. If this reaches 0, I split between IRA and MM)

Result is 00/month. I give myself 0/week. This covers food, pet care, gas, and anything else I desire in one week. If have a big purchase (plane ticket or a vet bill, need or want), I take it out of my savings but I often supplement with my personal weekly allowance.

I know that what I have is a blessing and I do not want to mess it up. Do you think this is appropriate?
I should also add that my workplace has included health care and a great retirement program in addition to the 401k, so I even have that for future security…

My lil dog’s teeth need to be cleaned. I got him from the pound about 2 years ago and they did not take care of hom properly. His teeth were infected and some needed to be removed. I paid the 300+ dental fees. Once again we couldn’t save his other teeth they were too far gone still. I am dreaded the 300+ dental…please help! I need some good dog insurance! Anyone know of any good companys to go with?
I know they won’t pay for the last bill. I have paid that already, that was 2 years ago. I am saying he needs to have some more teeth removed.

Its such a long story but I was at a party and my friends dog was there and I bent down to pet the dog and he bit a chunk out of my face. It was very scary I really don’t know what happened after that just that I went to the hospital and got my face stitched up. My face looks so bad I don’t even want to go out side. I got a number to an attorney and called him to ask what I needed to do. He said not to talk to her and that we would contact her homeowners insurance to take care of all the medical and not to except anything from her. So I told the girl the truth and I would hope she would understand. Now I just found out that she does not own her home her mother does and that she is now saying that I antagonized the dog and that’s why he bit me. That is so untrue I would never hurt her dog or cause him in anyway to want to take a chunk out of my face. So now I don’t know what to do ??? Please someone give me some advice…. Thanks

Last week I had a health scare with my 3 year old beagle, Tater Salad, and am now almost 00 dollars in the hole! YIKES! I have two beagles, I love them both to distraction and NEVER want to be in a position where I cannot pay for treatment for them. This was a real wake up call- emergency vet care is EXPENSIVE, and it doesn’t matter if your dogs are young and healthy. Anything can happen, and everyone who has a pet should think about what they would do in an emergency situation.

Also, ANY dog can develop bloat- even a 20 lb. beagle. It’s more rare for smaller dogs, but can still happen- if your dog is obsessively swallowing, licking the air, vomiting foam, dry heaving repeatedly, burping, etc. get him to the vet right away. My dog was bloated without the usual "twisted stomach" (thank god), and did not need surgery. If he had, I would be looking at a much steeper bill…

Long story short, for those of you who have gotten pet health insurance- What company would you recommend, and why? Who would you steer clear of? What has been your experience w/your company, and how does it work? Like, do you have to carry an insurance card, or do you get reimbursed? And what exactly does pet insurance cover?

She is not talking about religion, but her belief in homeopathy, animal communicators and crap like "what the bleep?". I don’t hassle or tease her about this stuff, I keep my criticism to myself, but she knows I put no value in it at all. I trust reason above "belief" for my interaction with the world.

Obviously things aren’t going great with the wife, haven’t had sex in a while (despite my desire).
So when she says this, I am suddenly at the point where I need to make a choice.

I have lost over 0.00 in the last 3 days thinking I was buying a 5 month Blue and Gold Macaw and 2
2 yr old African greys..of course the add said FREE To Good Home and then came the descriptions and the graditude they found someone to care for their birds as they did. Then the airport starts with the fees…fees to ship/ well that seemed ok because one seller even went half of the shipping fees….then specialized crates…and then insurance and cite papers…on and on and on until i have no more money. I have put off my bills and borrowed from my roommate and i still have nothing…when asked for the insurance company name and number to verify my insurance payment would be refunded…haha…..online address doesnt exist….these people can not keep on doing this without some punishment. I have asked for my money back ( I know HAHA) or at lease one of the birds to be shipped to me. maybe we can start a check-out web site and put all our info together so others won’t lose out likeme

So I am making myself a list of what I need to consider when I move out of my house. I only have a couple thousand dollars saved in my account so I really have doubtful feeling about moving into an apartment but it’s better for my mental health if I do this, because of parental issues. Hi everyone out there, I’ve had pets for a long time and have spent alot of money on Vet’s for there care. I was wondering if there is a company or company’s that offer health insurance for pets? Someone once told me there was but not sure anymore. I asked my insurerer and they didn’t know and looked at me like i was weird or something. I’m not going to discontinue paying for the health and well being of my furry family members but some procedures we have had to have does tend to be a little pricey.

I would really like to get insurance for my pets but there really isn’t any point in it if there isn’t a type that would pay the vet directly without my having to pay the money up front and then be reimbursed. Also is there any type that would cover all my pets for 1 payment. I have a lot- 8 cats and 9 dogs and please don’t respond to this critically- they are all rescues from off the streets and at dumpsters. I live in rural Mississippi and it is common practice for many people to throw out their pets here like yesterday’s garbage. I work over 50 hours per week to feed and care for them and pay my bills. I’m just interested in trying to get some advice on paying for major vet expenses

Hi, I am a very nervous pet owner from Georgia, that is going to travel very soon. I am looking to board my dog and I would like to hear any tips or recommendations from Yahoo’s dog lovers. I am VERY stressed with this. I need to find the right person or facility to care for my dog. I don’t want him to suffer. I am not inclined to house sitting for security reasons.
