Vet clinic receptionist, do I qualify for the job?

I’m 20 years young and have 6 months experience as a receptionist, but in a dental office. Would it be possible to apply my skills at a veterinary clinic’s front desk? I’m a quick learner and can remember any new information easily. I’m famliar with Care Credit and dealing with insurance companies..

Does anyone know where I can get pet insurance that doesn't exclude pre-existing conditions?

I have researched the internet and found that all the insurance companies will not insure your pet unless they have been checked by a licensed vet and that they have no pre-existing conditions. My dog has a torn ACL and needs surgery ASAP. I have checked with veterinary schools in my area and even outside my state and all of them require the fee up front, no payment plans. This surgery will cost approximately 00.00 of which I cannot afford to pay all at one time. Any suggestions???
Thanks to all who answered my question. I took all advice and have come up with a few solutions hopefully. Didn’t know how to contact each of you personally so this is a community thanks of appreciation.

McHenry County Illinois. Does a student need liability insurance when entering a clinical program?

I have to do a 225 hour veterinary technician clinical and the school says I have to get liability insurance where required by law. Does Illinois have this law for veterinary technician students?

Veterinary malpractice . . . what should I do?

My puppy (not even 2 yrs old) died on Sunday after being neutered. I AM POSITIVE the vet did something wrong. I had an appt with the doctor to discuss the surgery, did a full exam, blood panel & EKG. He came off like a cocky AHOLE to me but my husband thought cocky = experienced & confident. We brought him home after & never fully came around. He died while my husband was doing CPR on him on the way to the vet. The vet was (once again) a cocky AHOLE, unfeeling, and flippant about the whole thing.

They said they will pay for his private cremation & they will "waive" the emergency from when I brought him in not breathing but I still have to pay for the surgery. I can’t believe that I have to pay for the surgery that killed my puppy. I’m devastated, I’m lost, I’m angry. I just don’t want this guy to EVER do this to someone else & I don’t know what to do or where to start.

I wanted to have a necropsy done but I found out there is nobody in my State that does this anymore. So we’re going to have him cremated. I have asked for his medical records & haven’t received them yet. What should I do?

It wouldn’t matter if my puppy was from the pound or if he was expensive but he WAS expensive. He was a pure bred pug, AKC registered, I have his pedigree & certificates, etc. But mostly he was EVERYTHING to me.

Should I dispute the charge with my veterinary care card? Should I file a small claim? Should I ask them for their insurance info & go through them? I have NO idea where to start. I’m reporting them to the vet licensing board, the better business bureau, the ASPCA, and giving them my HONEST review online of their facility. What am I supposed to do? I honestly feel that they were 100% WRONG and they know it.

And they asked ME what happened when I brought him in barely breathing with no pulse???
BUNNUVA . . . what exactly am I not telling? He wasn’t even 2 yrs old, he listened to his heart, did an EKG, full blood panel, complete exam and HE couldn’t detect a pre-existing condition? My puppy was in incredible health & the vet said that himself. I’m sorry but REALLY . . . insensitive much? So this is MY fault? Is it OKAY to have incompetent vets doing surgery on YOUR PET? I hope this never happens to you . . .
CANINEKISS . . . wow really? Okay it’s a DOG!! He was A YEAR & 1/2. He was 14 yrs old!! I would never want to be a canine kissed by you. So I’m supposed to get a new DOG & move on? What are you even doing in this section with your insensitive BS? There was VENOM in your answer!!

And furthermore CANINEKISS . . . I will go ahead & spend my money because my adorable little man’s life MEANT something to me. At least I’m willing to stand up for what’s right & wrong to make sure this particular vet knows that he had better check himself!!! If you ever consider taking your pet to a vet & you read some online reviews or look them up before considering them & they have a BAD review . . . I AM the person you’ll need to thank for that!!!

GET IT SPAYED AND THERE WON’T BE A PROBLEM ANYMORE. Why are you even in this section? It’s not your strong area for advice & especially not compassion.

Low cost Veterinary care in MI or Northern Ohio? Please help.?

I am in need of LOW COST veterinary care in my area. I live just south of Detroit, so anywhere within 150 miles I would be willing to travel. I got laid off and my current job is low income, I don’t even have insurance for myself.

My dog needs teeth cleaning from heavy plaque and tartar build up on his upper back teeth, which was estimated at two local vets to be between 4 and 0! I cannot even afford my own dental care. I also want to test to see if he has a bladder infection.

I am concerned about my dog. He is a 9 year old Silk Terrier (Yorkie family).
As a yorkie, Skeeter has always had problems peeing in the house on occasion. It has never been a huge problem; they have small bladders, I have wood floors.

But last night he did something unexpected. I woke up at 6am to him shivering like he was scared or cold (he sleeps in the bed with me usually up by my head). As I went to turn over to move him to the end of the bed, I felt something dripping off of my neck, back and arm.. then I smelled it.. he urinated in the bed and all over the side of my head back and arm…

I want to get urine and blood tests done. He is a healthy, VERY hyper, active, friendly dog. I don’t understand why he did this.

Any help would be great.

Please help me get information on a LOW COST clinic.

I already tried the Humane Society, and they are no more low cost than any normal clinic. The only low cost service they provide is neuter/ spay which all of my animals already are.

Work Experience Help – PLEASE!?

Where in England can I get a Work Experience placement at a veterinary centre?!?
I am 14 years old and have ambitions to be a vet when I’m older. I have been trying for AGES to get a Work Experience placement at a vets, but with no luck!
Most places are replying saying they can’t take work experience students due to insurance/commitments to universities. I only really feel it’s worth me going to a vets for my work experience because I already have a job at a kennels and do some voluntary work with animals, and this is the only opportunity I’ll get!
I’ve tried veterinary centres in the county I live in, but with no luck, my dad has said he’s willing to take me anywhere in England because I want it so badly.
If anybody knows anywhere I could write to, could you please give me an address/name of the centre + county or a hyperlink. I will be so grateful and after writing, the veterinary centre I get my first positive reponse from, will be the one chosen as best answer.

(P.S the closer to the east midlands, the better!)
If you could just give me names of veterinary surgeries close to where you live, thay would also be a big help. Also, I would prefer it to be a small animal vets, but just tell me anywhere, even is it isn’t a small animal vets!
I am also currently working at a kennels so I feel going to a vets is the only thing that will be beneficial.

What can I do when I don`t have a job and money has run out?

I just moved to another state to be with my boyfriend. I have been here for a month and a half now. My money reserve has run out, I still have bills to pay, I still need to eat, etc. My boyfriend has been trying to help me – he got me a contract job with his workplace to work on a project that uses my web development skills. But it`s almost done and the money I`ll get from it won`t last long at all with the things I need to pay for (rent, insurance bill, phone bill, gas, food, etc).

I`ve sent out applications to everywhere, and I mean EVERYWHERE. Retail, wholesale, web development, art, receptionist, hospitals, offices, veterinary places…I even applied for a data analyst and I know absolutely nothing about it. I applied for car places and I barely know anything about cars. I`ve only gotten one interview and all the others are rejecting me.

What am I going to do? My boyfriend can`t support me financially, He doesn`t make enough to support the both of us so he can`t do my bills or anything. How am I going to get income? What am I going to do? I`ve done everything everyone has told me to do and it isn`t working. I`ve flashed the heck out of my resume, I`ve been the happiest most rainbow-and-sunshine "I`ve got great things going for me" personality at interviews, I`ve sent so many applications…I`ve been applying for freelance stuff in all my areas of skills…I`ve applied to online stuff, in the city stuff and areas that are even far away from where I live. Nothing is working and I`ve got nothing. I have no money to my name and my parents only gave me 0 for food and gas, which won`t last long at all. I need a source of income, and I need it now.
I don`t have money or any way to attend any kind of schooling, so this is not an option either. Moving back with my parents isn`t an option at this time either.

Earliest you can insure a horse?

I was just curious at what age you can start insuring a horse? I was reading on another forum that someone needed a lot of veterinary tests done on their foal but wasn’t covered by insurance because the foal was too young. I’ve never heard of this before because I’ve never had foals but was curious what the earliest age you can insure. Thanks
