Do you have to have some kind of license or permit to train a personal protection dog?

Or can anybody send their dog to get trained for this job? And how much do these trainers make?

There really isn’t a license per se but there are certificates that are issued from dog training schools. Most of them are worthless as there are only a few schools that really know what they are doing and how to teach it. But as per your original question, no you don’t have you have a license or permit to train a personal protection dog.
Anyone can send their dog somewhere to get trained for personal protection. But, there are several factors involved. First, your dog has to have the drives and temperament present within him or her to even qualify for this type of work.
Secondly you have to find the right person to train the dog. Many, many people will tell you they can train your dog for personal protection work. Whether they actually can do it properly is another thing entirely.
As to your question of how much these trainers make. I don’t know whether you were looking for what their income level is or how much it would cost to train a dog so I’ll answer both.
If they are very good they can make a decent living. To train your dog assuming he has everything it takes to even qualify you would be looking at thousands of dollars. How many thousands depends on many different factors.
If you want to be a trainer of these dogs, then yes, i believe you do. You also need to apprentice or learn under a licensed trainer. Otherwise anyone can train a dog like this and if done wrong can produce aggression that can’t be controlled.
IF you’re asking if your dog can be sent to be trained… i think your dog needs to pass a program’s certifications and you need to have a good reason for having this type of dog.
You should also check with your homeowner’s insurance company, or you may have none.
NO license is requried if for your own home and how much do they make i have no idea.
