Has anyone had their cat die within an hour of getting distemper and rabies shots?
My cat was so happy and healthy this morning. Within an hour after he got these shots he was dead. So far the company manufacturing the shots is willing to pay for the examination to find out what happened but if these shots aren’t safe I want to know.
Miss Taz I think you may be right. When I spoke to my vet about this I asked to have a third party do the examination. I hardly ever go to doctors but I wanted my cats to be safe. Maybe I should try to avoid any shots for my pets in the future.

I have never heard of that. Your cat must have had a bad reaction. I guess that’s always a risk with vaccines.
he’s was probably allergic to the medecine, im sorry.
I am sorry for your loss, and it seems the manufacturer is showing appropriate concern.
I have never heard of what happened with your cat, but if you have ever had a vaccination, there is always the precaution to remain in the area for 20 minutes since there can be extremely rare reactions. It may be that was the situation with your cat, or some underlying medical issue that could not be foreseen.
I have cats for 40 years and never lost one as a result of their vaccines.
This is very rare. I suspect he was allergic to the vaccine, just like some people can die if they are stung by a bee. The problem isn’t with the vaccine (or the bees), its with your cat’s immune system. This only happens one out of every Several Million cats. This happens (rarely) in people as well.
I have never heard of that. I glad the manufacture is going to pay for the examination to see what happened. I’m very sorry for you loss.
I’m so sorry for your loss. This is awful. Just search online "dangers of vaccines" "why not to vaccinate your cat" "vaccinosis" "rabies shot scam" etc. I think it happens a lot but people don’t know who to report it to and it doesn’t get documented. For years I had vets tell me it was "normal" for
my cat to get terribly ill after a vaccine. That was before I learned how dangerous they were.
Some say that a rabies vaccine provides immunization for 7 years. So why are the vets and the vaccine companies saying our pets need them annually, and not really telling people most of them aren’t required by law? Could it be for the income it provides them? Are they not aware of "vaccinosis", which can be anything from a change in personality to cancer to death, after vaccines?
Many people believe animals are being exploited. Well meaning pet owners are shooting up their animals with chemicals and drugs that seem to do more harm that good, thinking they are protecting their beloved pet. From what I’ve read, most vaccines that are given to puppies and kittens stay active for their whole lives (this is debatable). To my knowledge, cats, especially indoor ones, are not required to have any annual shots. Why would an indoor cat with virtually no exposure to disease opt for a shot that may cause vacinosis? Many people do not know the only shot required is the rabies for dogs, every 3 years (depending on your state).
The natural health community and animal right activists are trying to get the laws changed regarding vaccines. You need to make sure this gets documented and maybe even exposed to the public.
Perhaps the vaccine company IS showing proper concern, but would it be in their interest to find their vaccine killed your cat? Perhaps they will include your cats death as a statistic for the risk with the vaccine. Another option is to have a local hospital vet clinic that could test the cause of death? I wonder if someone like PETA could give you some advice on which way to go with this.
Kevin Trudueu has some books out that talk about the political agenda behind drugs. It’s more human based but I’m sure he talks about vaccines. Another couple websites to check out are shirley’s cafe and Dr. Pitcarin. Again, I’m so sorry for your cat.
