Dogs can get these diseases by coming in contact with infected animals and or the infected animal feces or other fluids. I am not sure if either disease is airborne or not.
Parvo is highly contageous and fairly common.
from other dogs
that’s y its important to get all the shots ur dog needs and get them on time
Its spread the same as any other germ.. they are virus.
Both are very contagious, and can be deadly if not treated.. expecially to young puppies. Parvo being more serious.
Parvo can be spread many ways.. it can live in the ground for 6 months to a year, even in freezing conditions. It can be spread from direct contact with an infected dog, feces, urine.. or it can be spread from infected soil.. you can go to a park and bring parvo home to your puppy!
Distemper is spread thru body secretions from infected animals, expecially respitory excretions. The virus can be airborn. Dogs in recovery may still shed the virus for several weeks even after symptoms dissapear.
Many animals besides dogs can carry and shed the distemper virus. Parvo doesnt require direct contact with an infected animal, as it can live in the ground anyways.
