How long does it take for Feline Herpes Symptons to go away?

My poor 6 month old kitten "Tangerine" has feline herpes. I have been giving him Lysine twice a day orally and Zithromax once a day orally and Terramycin twice a day for his eye. I have been giving him these for about 5 – 6 days now and I am not seeing much improvement. What is the average time period on when the symptons dissapear?
His symptons at the moment are:
Runny Nose
Discharge from the nose
Discharge from one eye
Closed sore eye
Sneezing a lot
Low Energy
Noisy Breathing

My cat had it too. Be patient he will get better. I think my cat took at least 2 weeks to get over it. Alot depends on how stressed the cat is, they can get an outbreak or worsen their symptoms just by being freaked out. Try to keep his environment soothing and quiet. Don’t miss any treatments. Make sure he isn’t secretly spitting out the pills. If he isn’t better by the time you run out of medicine you may have to take him in for heavier drugs, but your vet will know what to do. You don’t say how much lysine you are giving him – he should be getting 250 mg a day. Unless he is a big 6 month old and them he could have 500 mg
I have found the powdered Lysine put in a small bit of wet food works better. I have two cats that get a maintenance dose every day.
Quite often the eye ointment/drops can make it worse because it hurts and irritates.
You don’t say if the discharge is clear or coloured. If it is coloured he now has an infection and maybe should be treated with clavulox (anti-biotic) or vibravet (antibiotic).
If his nose is blocked up put a little bit of vicks UNDER his chin, this will help with his breathing.
If you have an oil burner, put some eucalyptus oil or tea tree oil in it. Or if you have a vapourizer – same thing.
For the sneezing you can add some echinacea also to his food. Just get pure echinacea with no other additives.
As another said, try and keep him in a quiet area, away from stresses of everyday life.
