how much is my horse worth?
i want to buy my horse off my parents… its very complicated but basically my sister is pregnant and we cannot afford my horse and the baby… so im gunna move out and live with my Nan (where my horse is kept) and so that my parents don’t have to pay for my horse and me, im gunna buy her off them. Its going to take a while to get the money, as im a jobless 17 years old, but ive been applying for jobs EVERYWHERE and ive been saving up. And ive got 9 months.. but anyways.. what would she be worth to YOU? i estimate about £1000 possibly under (to ME she is worth more than life itself.. but that’s beside the point lol)
here’s some info on her…
OTT TB mare, 15.2, 14 years old, bay. Racing name: She’s a gem- sire: Robellino USA, dam: Rose Gem IRE (for those of you that might be interested in her bloodlines) Very willing mare, tries hard, needs re-schooling, which im in the process of doing. Is terrified of cows- goes nuts when she sees/smells them. Great in traffic, doesn’t bat an eyelid! not a great fan of schooling, loves jumping, used to jump 4 ft, but she is slightly arthritic (try tell her that though! she would go all day and night if you asked her!) so no or very little jumping only. LOVES hacking, what she lives for. Other than being slightly arthritic shes in great shape. Does box walk, but is getting better with it. Can be a bit pushy with inexperience people, so definitely not a first horse, more a second… or third.. lol. Does get quite strong in company, but that’s what im working on. Can be ridden bareback, but is not the most comfy. We brought her 3/4 years ago for £2100 (including all tack and rugs).

I know about paying for insurance and stuff like that and what its going to cost, but my Nan is going to help me out. I’m not loosing Gem, i need her too damn much. please help. thanks.

It’s your parents who own the horse, just offer them what they paid for it and ask for a long payment plan, no interest,all tack included.
Sounds like a nice horse
Have a look online….horsemart etc and look at horses with same criteria.
My ex-racer is 15.3 and 5yrs old. Had no tack or wardrobe, needed training and a cribber. Paid £600.
She now worth more due reschooling and has full wardrobe and more but would never be worth as much as a horse without a vice. 14yrs is a nice sensible age. From looking online i would offer £1500, but have a look. You should get a deal considering your parents own it. Good luck and i hope you manage to keep her
