Question concerning health insurance for dogs…?
Hi this is a question for those of you who have health insurance for your dogs.
There is 2 plans one that covers up to 00 a year and one that covers up to 10,000 a year
Seriously which did you choose and why? What is the MOST you ever had to spend at the vet for your dog in ONE year? I have always been SO lucky…aside from routine dog stuff I have never had a major injury in any of my dogs requiring treatment KNOCK ON WOOD!
Now this plan would cover MVD…if a dog would be diagnosed with MVD what would be the cost of treatment? Does anyone know or have a dog with MVD they could share experiences? Again, I being a Cavalier breeder, have been fortunate enough to have never seen this.
I am still laughing….I live is SUCH a rural place that canine health insurance is NEVER seen until lately. Something I am considering for my new pup who is a Cavalier, of course. She will be a dog that I plan to show and currently has some pts earned with her breeder. (she is 9mos old) I recently purchased her from a great breeder and I am exploring my options as far as health insurance for her to try it out and see how it works for us in the long run. The breeder offers 3 free months so we will continue it and I figure as long as we have it I may as well make sure I have enough coverage for ANYTHING that may happen.
Yes, I know my pup…glued to me and minds extremely well the first time as do all my dogs
I am also extremely familiar with this breed as I have dedicated the last few years of my life to bettering this breed. I know my bloodlines well and I chose this particular dog based on well know bloodlines that are heart healthy with no SM in the bloodlines. However…this is my first time insuring a dog and as long as I am paying for insurance I figure I may as well have a plan that is capable of covering the unlikely should it happen…if that makes sense.

well you never ever know when your luck can run out…
insurance is very good, and i would consider the plan depending on your breed. i am not sure about Cavaliers but think about it this way…is that breed known to have a lot of health problems later on? is she a well behaved dog that will listen to you when there is danger to stay or come to you?
just basically generalize this all on your dog, and talk to your vet about it as well.
i never insure my dogs , but as you got a king charles i would for sure ,
i would go by what your heart tells you ,
most expencive vet fee for me , around 1000 pound , rottie with parvo , and that was 20 yrs ago
pooor dog almost died
king charles would be more costly , have you seen" pedigree dogs exposed" from the bbc ?, ,. many many a problem with king charles in the uk
hope all ok for you though , i would hate any one to go throu what some king charles owners have gone through , it worrying
good luck , all be well
