Renewing Horse Insurance?

Is horse insurance like any other insurance? I know it only spans for a year so can i simply renew it after the year has finished or do i have to find another insurer? Any ideas of relatively good/cheap insurers in the UK would be good too.
Thanks!!

Hi, it is just like any other insurance you do have to renew the policy or find a new company to insure with. The company you are with at the moment will send you a notice of renewal before it is due to run out giving you the price they require for a new year this then give you the chance to see what they want and to look at other insurance companies.
I have always insured my horses with the N.F.U the national farmers union cheaper does not always mean better so make sure you are getting the same cover that you have at the moment, my mare fractured her leg at it cost over £5,000 to put her right but they paid up with out a fuss, so please do your homework first as you do not want a nasty surprise, hope this has been of use to you.
the best thing to do is shop around as all insurances give you a good deal for the first year
but it goes up the second year wether you have claimed or not
so shop about
im with e and l horse insurance
i pay £7.50 per month per horse [i have 2]
as both my horses are over the age of 15 years
i still get all the same cover as when they were younger
