There’s many people and articles saying that further research into pet vaccination has showed that it’s more harmful then helpful to animals. It’s getting me a little iffy about getting my 12 week old kitten getting vaccinated. Opinions?
I was playing with our pet dog then he started biting me playfully on the forehead,
he has been with us for a long time and my mom said she was bitten by him already several times and the plate she eats from the dog also eats,
the dog isn’t showing any signs of rabies and has never left our home to associate with other animals and always eats from a clean plate but he never had any anti rabies shot,
is there a possibility for me to get rabies? i was only bitten a few minutes ago since i posted this question and i’m feeling kinda strange,
the bite wasn’t really deep and there is no blood but it stings a little,
is it just my imagination? or is this an effect of rabies?
pls help me,
as you can see i am a worrywart and pls don’t post wrong information for i tend to worry alot,

rabies vaccination is expensive and i don’t know if i really need it…

first of all i don’t know about this law you guys keep talking about having to give dogs rabies vaccine, i live in the Philippines you know…
i really wish some people would consider this before associating their laws with other countries,
secondly he wasn’t my pet, he was my mom’s and she was the one to decide to give him anti rabies shots or not,
it’s not free here in the ph, infarct it’s a little pricey in vets,
and even more with human anti rabies shots that cost up to 3,000php or so i recall…
about that psychological thing, yes i do admit i tend to worry too much it might have been my imagination,
but can’t you guys be a little friendlier?

My friends had this cat but wasn’t able to care for it anymore so she gave him to me. I already had two cats and couldn’t take on a third at the time so I gave the cat to a nice man I met off craigslist. He said Falcor (the cat) was doing great and loved his house. Sadly 2-4 weeks after this the man messaged me and told me that Falcor had died of Feline Leukemia and that the vet had tried to save him but it was to late and Falcor gave up his will to live. I have a 3 yrs old cat named Shadow and a 10 yr old cat named Diamonds. Within the past couple of months Shadows weight had been going up and down and he is even going to the bathroom in my room a little bit (he is litter box trained). It is not like him to do that…Diamonds doesn’t seem to have any symptoms of it, but I am still worried for both. I do not have the money to pay a vet rate now but will some vets do it for free and then I can pay them back within a certain amount of time? I will pay them back when I get a job (as I am only 16). For those who have heard about Riverside Animals Clinic in Lisbon Falls Maine USA do you know if they will do it. And if someone can give me all the info they know about this disease it would be very helpful. Thank you!
Why is it that everyone here in the U.S. wants animals to have rights, but they deny human beings the right to free medical care based on citizen status. It makes no sense. Kill a dog you get life in prison. Kill a black human being maybe 2 years in jail.
My sister is a U.S. citizen, but she can’t get health insurance because my parents are out of work and she’s a minor. Also my parents are legal immigrants to this country and do not qualitfy for benefits like free medical or dental. So my sister is left to fend for herself. How sick is that?

I’m wondering as a U.S. where our Human Rights have gone. Why is it that a dog can get treated for a cold, but if a human being has no insurance their S.O.L.
My parents will only allow me to get another dog if I don’t get it a license (they are anti-license, they think it’s a form of government control). I was hoping to adopt from a shelter, but I guess I’ll have to find a puppy/dog somewhere else.
Yes, we have driver’s licenses and they have a marriage license. County/City government is still the goverment. They believe that no one has the right to tell us how many animals we can keep. They are cared for very well, they just aren’t registered.
I have treated my yard and home and the fleas are still horrible. I am getting ate alive and I can only imagine what my poor pets are going through. I have treated my animals as well as everything else and am currently at a loss as to what I can do or if there is anything better available that is affordable to help this situation.
When we are outside on the porch we can literally watch the fleas jump on our legs and the house isn’t much better. After being treated it is still unbearable to be there.
My cat has feline leukemia, she is in a healthy cycle right now…meaning she hasn’t had any sicky flareups or anything lately. The worst she’s gotten so far is bad abscesses. She is an inside cat with no other animals but she’s picked up fleas. Is it ok to give her Frontline?
My vet doesn’t take phone calls like these and I’d have to make an appointment just to ask a question, so I’d like to find out without doing so. Thanks!
Amy – Thanks, my vet told me a lot about it too, she was a rescued cat that I adopted not long ago and I don’t know how, but I guess she just slipped through any testing for it. I took her in to the vest because of a huuuge abscess near her back leg and the vet said she probably had it, said that there was no real need to test her because they often have false negatives, but that in her "opinion" she probably had it. My vet was kinda pushing to put her down then, but I decided to try the antibiotics and she responded very well to them, but still gets abscesses every now and then. I know that if she does have it, it’s fatal, but I’m waiting to put her down until it seems bad for her. That poor kitty’s had such a rough life, I want her to have the best of what’s left before she goes. 
I think im going to contact the APA (animal protection agency) should I?
I was at a market and they had a "pet store" my husband and I are not animal people but decided to go in the place smelled so bad i cant even describe it and they had these HUGE rabbits in small cages to wear they couldnt do anything but lay down. one of the kittens had sickly looking diarhea the place was at least 90 degrees onthe inside. it was horrible and my heart broke for these animals can /would the apa do anything about this?
also I dont think they even give vaccination b.c the place was really dumpy and they had a sign that said have unwanted pets maybe we can help

I never took this all that seriously until now. I live in the Red River Valley and got kicked out of my home. Thankfully I had a place for my pets, but I have to wonder "what if?"
Here is a guide I got tonight from the animal shelter I was working at today.
If your animal(s) will be in need of shelter at the emergency animal shelter, please prepare an emergency kit prior to bringing your animals to the shelter.
The kit should include:
medications
current vaccination/medical records
food – at least three day supply, in an airtight container
current photos and description of your pets
pet carrier
sturdy leashes
familiar items, i.e., blankets, toys, pet beds
Also, make sure your pet has identification tags.
I am against putting poisons into my animals and do not want to just to move to another state. Is there any way I can prove that my animals are healthy without vaccinations and avoid them?

I actually own 3 females and have alot of experience. You should at least praise me for following the rules and not bash me because i would like to expand. I take care of my animals very well and treat them like my own children. I could just get 5 more dogs stick them in my shed at 90 degrees weather and produce on healthy puppies without a license. But im not ashamed of the way I raise my dogs and welcome all inspectors to my house.
You guys are just terrible. I see you guys are all dog lovers and wonder where the heck you guys got them from. Was it a breeder? The way you guys see it everyone should just stop breeding animals then none of us will have pets. You guys are very immature with your answers and are always there to bash someone that wants to breed dogs. I guess there is alot of 12 year olds thinking they know everything about dogs and just follow the leader with the first response. GROW UP
I look out for the strays in my neighborhood. A young male was recently injured so I captured him and am treating his eye. I feel like he’s never had anyone to love him. I don’t know if I can keep him because I seem allergic to this one. Plus I have two other males in the house. If I take him to the ASPCA he could get a home, but if he has leukemia, I’m sure he’ll get put to sleep without option of taking him back. It’s so sad that animals who haven’t been loved have such a fate. Should I pay the vet bills myself and just try to get him a home?
Oil is easily soaked up with hair. the next time you get a hair cut or shave any of your pets send down to the oil spill. Lama and alpaca hair works the best. Dog, cat, and human hair are good to. It’s amazing what a little hair can do. Also you can send bottles of dawn soap to help remove oil from animals.
I’ve heard that you can get lyme disease from many different animals, but can you get it from a house pet? Even though you put the flea/tick medicine on him every month? THANKS!!
To add to my last question….my friends capuchin monkey was diagnosed with leukemia. She as been around a cattery which supposedly none of the cats are FELV positive, or show no symptoms if they do have it. Could a non human primate be infected also just be being around them. I am not sure if the monkey touched them, but maybe she has, and monkeys love to groom other animals that will tolerate it.
