My cat is has been sick for months?

Ok so my cat has been coughing, sneezing, her eyes are leaking and she lost lots of weight. The vet has no clue what it could be. The vet game me antibiotics and eye cream for my cat but it hasn’t helped any. I took her to another vet but they said it was just a cold, and gave her more antibiotics.Still hasn’t helped

This all started in early November.

My aunt says it sounds like feline leukemia. Does anybody else have any idea what this is?

Say you are infected with both diseases. They are common bacterias each can be treated with the same antibiotics but would you have to take double the antibiotics. Would their be more complications or less rate to kill the bacteria?

I know it’s something I should ask my vet but they’re a little off with her diagnosis, I feel, so maybe a few objective opinions would be ok.

My kitten just went through her first heat cycle. It was a nightmare for us both, I think. Me for obvious reasons and her cause she didn’t sleep, eat or drink much for 2 days and even threw up… I felt really bad for her. She did NOT enjoy that.

I will be calling my vet to schedule to spay her but I was wondering if anyone has had an experience with spaying a cat that has minor eye irritations.

She’s had them for a few months, nothing serious but a little discharge and squinting… she also gulps sometimes. Shedoesn’t have a URI (confirmed by the vet) or feline leukemia. My vet suspected herpes but I really doubt it cause it has a lot of other symptoms she doesn’t have.

And if she did, would it be ok to do any surgery like that? It’s not a male cat after all, surgery is a little more complicated.

Any advice would be great. Thanks!
Oh she’s about 10-11 months old (got her from a shelter so I don’t know for sure).
Ok, in reply, she IS on lysine right now. It doesn’t seem to make a difference for now. Also, she’s been through a round of antibiotics before and it made no difference.

She’s eating well, energetic, playful and overall healthy. Herpes might not manifest as all the symptoms in a given cat but I just doubt it would only show as sporadic eye irritations in the absence of all other symptoms.

As I said ,she was tested for FLV and she doesn’t have it.

I’ll call my vet either way and ask, just wanted to see what people thought, thanks!

I’ve been on antibiotics for 2 months, when I started the treatment I wasn’t that bad, a little pain in my feet. Since I’ve been on the antibiotics, the pain has spread to my whole body and I’ve been in nonstop pain since going on the antibiotics…any advice? I know about the Herx, but I thought that was only supposed to last a little while after I took the antibiotics, and supposed to start getting better.

I have a senior terrier mix, he’s 10 years old. Unfortunately he’s always had skin problems since he was about 1. But my family and I are having a very hard time getting by as I’m sure a lot of us are with the economy going back down. Now i don’t wanna ramble but I really am needing help in any way possible. I don’t have health insurance and neither does my dog. My mom’s sick so we barley have any money for rent and food for all three of us. But I manage to work to support us. And now that my dog has got this new skin disease, i’m not sure what to do. Tried ordering different topical creams for bacterial infections and shampoos but nothing helps. I know antibiotics work for him but no website allows me to order any without a prescription and I tried taking him to a vet for low income and the vet wanted to do a million different tests that seemed unnecessary because obviously if they’re graduated veterinarians they should only have a few tests to check what’s wrong with my dog. And estimated my bill being up to 00. I was so pissed I had to pay her to tell me that’s how much it would cost for them to do tests. Anyways before anyone suggesting to put him to sleep or give him away he’s too old to adapt to a new family, and he still has energy and is a member of my family, and until he’s not able to move or in pain I will not put him down. So please anyone who has any suggestions, answers, numbers, websites, books, information, vet student?? anything..please let me know. It would be greatly appreciated, God bless you all.
OH I FORGOT TO MENTION I’VE DONE A TON OF RESEARCH ONLINE BUT STILL HAVEN’T BEEN ABLE TO FIND AN INFORMATIVE ENOUGH SITE ABOUT THE DIFFERENT TYPES, SYMPTOMS, AND CURE/TREATMENTS FOR THE DISEASE. SO IF YOU STUMBLE ACROSS ANY PLEASE LET ME KNOW. THANKS =)
Thanks a lot, those of you who understand what we’re going through with our dogs! Don’t worry I will not give benadryl to my dog because that’s not going to cure him.

Oh and to those of you with your incongruous remarks about not being able to afford medical attention for my dog, you don’t know what a single person like myself has been through (and is none of your business) and I bet all of you who did try to make me sound like a monster, are spoiled brats who have been given everything to them all their life, haven’t had to work hard for anything in your life. Money isn’t everything, get educated and maybe you’ll understand why others of us can find better ways to live than you. (If you don’t have anything HELPFUL to Contribute to my dog and I then don’t waste my time skimming through your answer). Thanks again to those of you with wonderful ideas and advice! =)

He tested negative for FIV and feline leukemia. Antibiotics had absolutely no affect.

I had the kitten for 3 months before he died. It has been 3 months since then.

My cat is currently at the vet.
Symptoms:
Anemic
Bad Breath
Fever
Jaundice
Not Eating
Tooth Loss
Weight Loss

I’ve always fed with crunchy food, but once he stopped eating it so I gave him the canned food. He seemed to like it better, so I just continued to do a combination of the two.

We noticed a week ago that he stopped eating again so we took him to a vet, who did a blood panel and a feline leukemia test. He checked out good on the tests. The vet said that he had gingivitis, caused by eating the Friskies (crunchy) and Nine Lives (canned) cat food that we were feeding him.
He prescribed antibiotics, and said that the goal was to kill all the bacteria in his mouth. If this didn’t work after some time, he may have to remove his teeth.

Not wanting to have his teeth removed, I have taken him to a different vet for a second opinion yesterday. This vet currently has him on an IV and is administering antibiotics and Prednisone. She sent a test to a lab to check him some more illnesses, one being FIP.

I will find out the result tomorrow.

I researched FIP and I am extremely worried because he has most of the symptoms.

Do you think he really has it?

I really don’t want to think that he is going to die. He is only 18 mo. old.

What do you think?
Yesterday, she pulled his mouth open and made the statement that his gums were really red.
Thanks for your answers. They made me feel better and gave me hope last night. I was able to sleep really good. Today, his temp went up so high, so fast that he went into a seizure and the doctor lost him.
Test result for FIP hadn’t came in. We took him home and buried him. The dr. sent samples to the state hospital and I will know in 1 – 2 weeks on what the actual cause was. I’m still waiting on the FIP test.

Vitamin B 12 deficiency and post Lyme disease?

I went on antibiotics and now I’m off of them. I have still been having headaches and fatigue, sometimes its hard to concentrate. I did a blood test and there is no sign of active Lyme in my system. So i did not know what was wrong. I been taking vitamin b 12 supplement and noticed these symptoms are getting better.

Is there a link between B 12 deficiency and the Lyme bacteria?

We adopted a 7 week old puppy a few weeks ago. We tried to potty train him so that he can learn to go potty outside on the lawn, which he has been doing pretty well for a week or so. He still had accidents, but it wasn’t so bad.

This past Sunday, we took him to the pet store where they have pet clinics for vaccinations. We vaccinated him for the puppy package, which contained DAP and Parvo, and I believe he also got Corona. We also microchipped him then.

But he’s been having some skin issues – like a mini patch on his leg where it didnt grow hair but seemed like fungus, so we took him to the vet on Monday. They found out that it was just skin irritation, but went ahead and gave him some antibiotics just in case it spreads to anywhere else in the body. They also bathed him with a special soap, prescribed an antibiotic to take by mouth, and some pills for him to take to help regenerate skin.

He seemed pretty worn out on Sunday and Monday after getting vaccinated and getting antibiotics through vaccinations. However, I noticed today that he’s been leaking a lot more than the usual accidents he had. He eats, and then goes pee in the house about 30 seconds later; after he wakes up from a nap he pees again in about 30 seconds before we even have the chance to take him out. Usually when dogs have accidents, they squat and go, but this time, he would pee as he walks like he can’t hold it any more.

A few minutes ago, he got up from his nap, peed as he walked, and went to a different place and peed again. I called the pet clinic that vaccinated him on Sunday and they told me that it shouldn’t have anything to do with the vaccinations. I called the vet after to see if it could be bladder infection, and he told me that if anything, the antibiotics should help the bladder infection. He also told me that there shouldn’t be complications with the previous vaccinations he had on Sunday.

Can any vets or anyone that’s knowledgeable in this area help me please? We can’t afford all the vet bills so I wanted to check with someone online…Anything would help. Thank you so much in advance.

Took my cat to the vet due to sudden onset of lethargy and lack of appetite (From fine to sickly in 3 days). He is 1 1/2 years old. Blood tests revealed an extremely low RBC count. He tested negative for feline aids and feline leukemia, and WBC counts were not elevated. This vet wanted to euthanize my cat, so to be sure I got a second opinion. The next vet more or less agreed with the first, however sent us home with appetite stimulant, antibiotics, and steroids, in addition to giving a shot of B12, and told us it was a wait and see approach. Could there be any undetectable causes (like the one mentioned above), and is a blood transfusion in order? Thanks in advance.

Cat vaccinations – Why?

When you consider how expensive they are and coupled with the fact that the vets have been booking them for us on a yearly basis for our cats, throw in the fact that we want to make sure our pets are safe from illness – just to tug on the old heart strings.

I cannot help but think that booster vaccinations are nothing more than a cash cow ploy for vets to swindle us out of money on a regular basis.

Reasoning for my skepticism is that our previous cat lived for 19 years and the only injection I recall she ever had was some antibiotics after she was bitten.

Can anyone here justify to me why cats need such regular vaccinations?

Also what’s with them getting more vaccinations then humans? Don’t say it’s because of their life style (killing vermin) that’s bull, cats evolved to withstand such germs.

Why does my cat sneeze so much?

I have taken her to the vet three times& they keep giving her antibiotics. The medicine never helps. They tested her for feline leukemia, and the result was negative. Medicine won’t cure her, and now my other cat is sneezing too.
