What is a healthy cat food that my cat will like?

My family adopted a cat from a shelter. Shes only a kitten, around five months old. When we adopted her, the people at the shelter gave us a small bag of cat food, which I’m assuming is healthy. The problem is, she doesn’t like it. She refuses to eat it unless shes desperate for food. My mom bought meow mix and she started eating a LOT more often. But I’ve been told that,meow mix is poor as far,as the quality of the food goes. Whats a cat food that is good for her that she will like?

What kind of cat food for a one year old cat and a ten week old cat?

The younger cat is throwing it up. I think it’s because she is so active and she doesn’t let her stomach settle after she eats. Is there any cat food you guys suggest that has worked for you? I’m feeding them Meow Mix right now and I know that’s not the greatest for them since it has a lot of fillers.

I need some education on what make a cat food good or bad? what to stay away from? Dry vs. Wet? recommended brand?

I am opened to be educated on both Dry and Wet… One thing I am sure is I will not get Iams….

My newly adopted cat is on Medi-cal Preventative… any thoughts?

I live in Toronto, Canada. It is difficult of find Wellness here, if at all…

I will def. check out Pet Value… I haven’t even thought of that place…. =) My cat seems to like Medi-cal, and his coat is amazing! Super soft and little shed at all (He’s a Medium/Long hair!)…

What is this whole big issue of feeding dogs raw, or from a specific brand?

Okay, I have two dogs, a one year old Lab, and a 12 week old Boxer. We switch around their dog foods a lot, depending on what name brand is cheapest, what coupons we have, etc.
Among some of the brands we use include Beneful, Pedigree, Almo (which we prefer not to feed), IAMS, Eukanuba, and some others. Occasionally, they will get a tidbit of a french fry or some hamburger or something, but that’s it.
I am not kidding. To some people, this seems like I am desecrating my poor pups bodies.
What is the big hurrah over the raw food diet? I understand that there was the scare of the dog food being contaminated, but with the economy in the state it is currently, it seems a complete waste of money to provide meats that I can scarcely afford to have, let alone an animal who has a wholesome meal for $.60 a can, plus for an almost 18 pound bag. It is so much more economical, and time saving than working over creating a meal for a dog. I love my pups as much as the next person, do not dare criticize me of that, but when I cannot afford lamb, or enough beef for both me and the dog to eat, than why should the animal win over myself?
I am the one caring for the animal.
Would you cat owners buy a fillet of salmon and some shrimp, and then stop by your local pet food store and stock up on some rats to feed your cat? Probably not. That is what the cat ate before it was domesticized to what it is now, and what they continue to eat when they catch their own prey, but under no circumstances, I believe would a cat owner choose to make cat food over just buying it.
Maybe I ranted, but in any case, I want to know the answer. You can’t really change my mind on how to feed my dogs, but I would like to know why other people see this way of nutrition as the ONLY way.

Although I was quite happy while reading the first few posts, those of you who believe that because those of us pet owners who say we "cannot afford" feeding our pets a raw food diet is a poor and weak excuse really disappointed. You are part of my problem with pet owners who believe that the raw food diet is the only way. You look down on those who feed their dogs canned food or just regular brands of dog food, because we either choose not to, or are not able to expend the extra effort to prepare meals for our pets.
Yes, pets are a luxury, but does that mean that they should be eating luxuriously too?
Keeping a dog healthy and happy is the main key. Making sure that they are properly exercised, groomed, mentally stimulated, and in good health, on top of the unknown expenses of sudden illnesses or injuries adds up to a good deal of time and effort spent solely on the animal.

I feed my dog cat food.He is a small 11 pound toy fox terrier.everyone keeps telling me on yahoo answers that im posioning him!What is the cat food really doing to him.hes been eationg it for 5 years,and he is as happy and heathy as ever!when he was little we bought him EXPENCIVE special dog food,and he always ate my cats food and hated the dog food.we even tried wet food and he only ate a few bites of it!

can you please tell me whats so wrong with feeding him cat food?Please no mean answers…..im so sick of those.

Do i cook meat for my pet mouse or do i just give it to her raw?

i came to a conclusion that my mouse needed high protein and then i looked up what to feed a mouse. she needs meat but im not sue if i should cook it or not. she is a mother of now one and she ate the rest one by one. obviously she needs more protien. i want to keep this last baby but i need to know weather i should cook the meat or not and would i hurt to give her cat food aswell as the mouse mix???? please help. and no stupid answers please.

Hi..
I have a question or two about cat food,
What’s the best brand for cat food? I’m looking for one who can give my kitty all the nutrition she needs.
I already give her more than one brand, Whiskas, Purina, Kitekat.. but is there a better brand out there that would keep my cat healthy??
Also, how much should I feed her? she’s about one year old.

And, which is better, dry or canned food, & why?

Okay, I work at a pet store that sells high quality and grain free foods such as taste of the wild, merrick, wellness, eagle holistic, evolve, nature’s variety, wysong, halo, etc. Well, today at work, I was reading an article about a new line of food we will be carrying from wysong called "Wysong Epigen" (it’s a dry dog and cat food), and the article is titled "Starch free vs. Grain free". Here is the article: (ps – in your response to the article, I don’t want to hear you advocating raw food, I don’t care, all I want opinions on is the commercial dry foods, thanks)

"Starch is the fundamental problem is all kibble pet foods. "Epigen" is the first kibble pet food absent of this unnatural (to carnivorous pets) sugar source (starch is simply a polysugar). Grain free products have merely replaced grain with other, less healthy starches such as potatoes, peas, and tapioca. This solves nothing. It only creates a perception of benefit that, according to scientific studies, is not true. Starch is starch, whether it’s from potatoes and tapioca, or corn and wheat.

Starch-free Epigen represents a true first, and is an honest, natural, and healthy product. Grain free diets are marketed as "new", "more natural" "more wild", "just like raw" and "more meat". All such claims are false and misleading.

Starch-free Epigen replaces the starch ingredients with proteins (the carnivore’s main requirement) and a wide spectrum of essential nutrients. Grain free products are not only laden with starches, they are nutritionally inferior. I am not a fan of this article. I have switched many people’s dogs with skin issues to grain free foods and have had GREAT feedback from most, and my dog is on Taste of the Wild, and his mild dry skin has disappeared. Do you agree with this article, or do you think it’s just marketing on Wysong’s part? thanks for reading.
we are not about marketing. We care about the foods for the pet. This is simply something that was faxed to us by Wysong company. I DO NOT like what they are saying, and I promote grain free feeding, and I feel as though this article does nothing buy bash it..
