I personally do not believe in vaccinating dogs every single year because it is absolutely unnecessary. I wish I do not have to vaccinate my dogs all the time but I am forced to in order to be able to renew my dogs’ licenses. This is the new Malaysian ruling. If my dogs are caught not wearing their new licenses each year, I could get fined & my dogs could get confiscated.

So I am just wondering, will there be any harm caused to my dogs if they’re vaccinated every single year for the rest of their lives?

Our cat was recently diagnosed w/ FeLV. We are going to do everything possible to make sure he survives and has a great quality of life. I’m a little bit worried though b/c although I know that this is a species specific virus…I’m worried that my brothers baby (1yr old) that lives w/ us might catch something from the cat…some other virus. Has anyone lived w/ a FeLV cat and had small children? or other pets like dogs?
Thanks to everyone that has responded. This is the first time that we’ve experienced something like this so we’re very inexperienced and shocked. We love this cat and don’t want to get rid of him but at the same time we were worried about our other pet and the baby. Thanks for putting our fears to rest. We will do everything on our part to make sure our kitty gets better.

I have been trying to find a job on and off for the last couple of years without much success as well as trying to hustle by walking dogs, cleaning apartments, etc. My family who has been worried that they would have to give my mom and I some money are now doing that and are angry as a result. When I tried to tell them that the job market is tight and I have been trying to find a job, they treat me as a liar. The last time that I was unemployed, they pressured me into finding a job, which I did , and was so angry at them that I took it out on employees at the job and was subsequently fired. I now have an injury to my leg in which I can’t put it down completely and I wonder should I try to go on job interviews and I’ve no health insurance. I am in my mid 30′s and I am tired of being treated like a baby or having to account for every job move to the family? I am feeling more suicidal by the day and I don’t want to go to another job and going off and getting fired again. Help!!!!!

I have been reading some articles on the topic of OVER vaccination. I am the type that takes my dogs to the vet regularly and for EVERYTHING. I just wanted to know what the well informed responsible pet owners have to say about the issue.

Apparently, the vets want you to get a booster for the rabies shot when in reality you don’t have to.

Hmmm….I find this interesting info, perhaps we are responsible for shortening the lives of our pets by over vaccinating them.

I was playing with our pet dog then he started biting me playfully on the forehead,
he has been with us for a long time and my mom said she was bitten by him already several times and the plate she eats from the dog also eats,
the dog isn’t showing any signs of rabies and has never left our home to associate with other animals and always eats from a clean plate but he never had any anti rabies shot,
is there a possibility for me to get rabies? i was only bitten a few minutes ago since i posted this question and i’m feeling kinda strange,
the bite wasn’t really deep and there is no blood but it stings a little,
is it just my imagination? or is this an effect of rabies?

i really wish some people would consider this before associating their laws with other countries,
secondly he wasn’t my pet, he was my mom’s and she was the one to decide to give him anti rabies shots or not,
it’s not free here in the ph, infarct it’s a little pricey in vets,
and even more with human anti rabies shots that cost up to 3,000php or so i recall…

My boyfriend, my dog and myself are living with his grandmother… (grr…!) and she INSISTS on getting my dog a license, we live in a rural area, and I’ve never gotten a license for any of my dogs growing up and have never ran into a problem.

but that is all beside the point… we recently moved from NC to NY and i cannot find my dogs vet records. His old vet in NC wont send his records to me with out written permission….

Now she went ahead and made an appointment with some vet ive never heard of or met without me or my boyfriends knowledge for Wednesday in hopes of getting him a rabies shot and a license.

If my dog has already gotten a rabies shot but i dont have a way to prove it what is the vet going to do?

My husband and I are looking to adopt but have pet. My question is, what is and if there is a limit number of pets you can have? I have 5 dogs, 2 cats, 1 bird, and 1 ferret. When they come and do the home-study are they going to tell me I need to part with them before I am able to adopt?

Well no one answered my question on natural health so I will break it down. I have been reading a lot on this and want to read more. I have long wondered why children don’t need to be vaccinated every year for the rest of thier life but dogs do. I have a book called the nature of animal healing and while I think he is right about a lot of stuff and want to know why my vet never told me that dangers of vaccines and that there are tests that can show if your pet is still immune instead of injecting them with chemicals over and over again.

I want more reading material so I can understand and ask more questions at the vet.

I am not trying to get out of going to the vet but I want what is best for my animal and the vets are keeping a lot of secerets or they are just educated to believe these things are a must. I will be getting an amazon gift card soon and want to spend it on books about natural health and prevention so my dogs don’t need a vet as often.

My dog is almost 7 months old and I just lost my job. I had to cancel everything including the pet insurance I had not to mention my own health insurance. He has a staph infection I believe the greenish crusty pus balls on his tummy. I dont know what to do! He is up to date on all shots and had his last wellness maybe 2 months ago. What can I do? I have maybe to my name after I drain my savings for bills. What can I do? What if I dont treat it???

i have a pet spitz mix in india. i am in the united states for another 4-5 years and want to get her here (she is with my parents right now, but they are not very fond of dogs, they do what they can though). i want to get her here to be with me. i am in pennsylvania.

I’m going in and getting my dog licensed? But before I go in do I need paper work or anything? Or can I just fill out a form saying the age, name, breed etc.
Also I have had one of my dogs for a year and another for 6 months. Will I get fined for not having my dogs licensed or will they not care?

My sister has a suspended license, but was not pulled over. She arrived home after going to pick up some groceries, and her dog was fighting with the neighbors dog. The cop was already there, someone called them to report the fight. She got the dogs apart put the dog in the fence. The officer came over to her asked to see her license, she told the officer that she did not have one. She asked for proof of insurance which she did have. The officer gave her a ticket for driving without a valid license and for the dog fight. My question is can a cop give a ticket like that without the presence of a traffic violation in which to pull her over. I do not wish to receive any comment about the dog fight she sent her dog to live with her mother-in-law in the country. Nor do I wish to receive any comments that are not helpful. By the way this in in Texas and any sources for where I can find the legal codes would be helpful.

Just right now, she freaked out! She started running around everywhere and barking at us. WHAT HAPPENED? she gains a load of energy and then just starts staying in her bed and resting again. But when she was freaking out then we picked her up so that she would relax. And she did. Now shes in her bed .. burrowing. Which i think.. is normal. And about the mucus. It looks more like saliva now. Shes COUGHING UP SALIVA. Or hacking. Is that normal???? Im so sorry if im freaking out. Its just that ive never had a chihuahua and im really scared cause my others dogs havent had these symptoms before! PLEASE HELP

Im kinda scared now. We bought a chihuahua yesterday and they said that they could give her the shots already. And i was shocked cause it seemed a bit early for her. And when they gave her the shot, i was looking at some toys I could get her, and i heard a yelp. And looked. And they didnt give the shot yet, but.. they already poked her but missed. They gave her 2 shots, lepto and parvovirus vaccine. After that she seemed really warm and tired. And i was kinda worried cause they couldve injected her in the wrong place. But when she got home she was really playful again. And she kept us up the entire night yipping at herself in the mirror. But when we woke up, she was restless. Then in the middle of the day, she got all tired. Would barely eat unless we added water to her food to make it soft.

And now shes like.. "Hacking" or something. Choking?! When i say Hacking i mean its a sound she makes.. like shes choking.

Ill give the date that they gave the 1st and 2nd shots.

I suffer from chronic (often severe anemia) as well as depression.
I know that there are things called psychiatric dogs, but I’m wondering if it would be possible to get a dog to assist me for the anemia.

I don’t know how it would work though because I think that a person has to be qualified as disabled. While the anemia does affect various aspects of my life, I don’t want to apply for disability which a friend or two has suggested I do.
Also, this is not an iron deficiency, nor sickle cell. I was tested for sickle cell and I’ve been diagnosed as iron deficient, but iron has done nothing to help . After I graduate college and get health insurance I’m going to try to see a specialist to find out what this really is (I did research and saw that ID anemia is often a misdiagnosis).

Anyway, as for the dog, I would like to have it trained to assist with bracing, mobility, and other things that I am unable to do when the anemia is severe such as going to get a drink, opening doors, picking things up, you know standard stuff that becomes practically impossible when all I can do is lie in bed.
If anyone has any info, please let me know. I appreciate helpful comments.

I don’t "drink" just in case you think I’m referring to alchohol. I mean water, juice et cetera.

I’m not going to bother trying to change your mind, but please go look up anemia symptoms. On the severe end you’ll note that people are extremely dizzy, suffer palpitations, and can barely breathe among other problems.

I’m not asking for a psychiatric dog. I used it as a reference. And I’m definitely not going to discuss my mental health with you. Nor did I post so that someone could be rude to me. If you don’t care to offer any helpful advice, I think you should go and answer a question that you can provide real advice for.

I heard something about when a cat was cold, so the cat went and lay on baby’s face to warm up. Baby suffocated and past away. I heard the same about dogs. So pets can be very risky to little children?
