My friend says that in order for him to train his chiuaua DOG properly his friends should act properly when they go over to his house and not play with or look at the dog too much, so that the dog doesn’t jump and act all crazy like it always does…so everyone is uncomfortable and hates going to visit him, this has been going on for TWO years now, my Q: Does training a dog involve training your friends and the people around you as well, such as telling people no to breath too hard or talk aloud and look at the dog, because the dog will react to their behaviour and act all crazy?

I have a 13 yr old neutered male and recently adopted a young female. She just went into heat 2-3 days ago. Im just curious if the male will try to mount her or if the neutering removes all of his instincts and urges in that area.

Okay, so I really want to get a dog – but not ANYTIME soon. I’m talking maybe a year to a year and a half from now. I’m thinking I’d like a Pem. Welsh Corgi.(I’m open to suggestions of course) They’re cute and I (based on the research I’ve done so far) seem to like their temperament. I DO plan on actually interacting with one soon LOL. They’re not TOO big and they’re not too small. I am willing to spend the time needed to interact with it, train it, walk it, and love it (of course). However I don’t know squat about puppies and their care (I know more about cats and kittens). Can someone here point me in the right direction? Any ideas, like a website I could go to or something else more creative? There is so much information out there I feel overwhelmed.
Also, opinions on the breed would be appreciated.
I live in a large one bedroom apartment. There is ample green space in my complex to walk and play with my future dog, not to mention the dog parks nearby. I plan on putting the dog on an pet health insurance plan (like I have for my two cats) and I feed only the most high quality foods. I love animals and while I love cats the most, I feel like I’m missing out on the joy of owning a dog. I am, however, under no illusions; if I find a dog is not right for me during the course of my pre-dog ownership research, I will not get one.

My 6-7 months old female kitten is in heat for the first time. I have two neutered male cats, and I’m not planning to take care of any more cats in home so I don’t want her to become pregnant. Can my neutered male cats marry her? they seem to know that she’s in heat but they don’t seem like they care. What should I do? any advice?

My dog can sit and come, but he’s got lots of energy and we’ve got lots of space, so I’d really like to do some more interesting training with him. We live in the middle of nowhere so training classes are not an option. I’d love to find a book that discusses training with verbal and gestural commands that we could work on. Any suggestions?

I have two dogs and a cat, and normal vet bills can really add up. Just wondering if pet insurance was really worth it.
Thanks!
Thanks so much for all the advise, especially about the wellness plans. They are exactly what I am looking for.

I understand licensing / registering an animal can be expensive, but if you’re adopting, it sounds like you’re taking on the animal as a means to keep it from getting put down, and people portray it as an act of philanthropy almost. So it doesn’t sound like you’d be obligated to pay for the licensing. Also, what about the shots?
