Dog insurance: Best insurers you have had!?

1. Where is the best place to get dog insurance?
2. Are they reliable?
3. When it says they’ll pay 8,000 a year, is it really true?
4. How exactly does the insurance work?
5. My dog may be pregnant, will they still insure her?
6. Do they insure to people under 18? I’ll be 18 March 26th this month, but by then if she is pregnant, she’ll be 1/3 of the way through it. Earlier the better in my opinion.

I want to ensure that my dog gets the best possible treatment, and her and the pups come out healthy. This was unplanned, a dog broke in through my window while she was in heat 3/1, but I’m not aborting her & I’m a responsible dog owner, willing to do whatever it takes to ensure the best possible health, including spending thousands at the vet. I have quite a savings, but it’d be nice to have insurance to keep some of those savings for grad school.

If you just want to yell at me for being 17 and breeding dogs, don’t bother. Trust me, I know all of the horrors out there. I know that "I’m contributing to dogs in shelters". I’m not trying to make an easy buck and I’ve done quite a bit of research. The adopted puppies owners will sign a contract stating that the puppies will come back to me if they ever get rid of them for any reason and I will vaccinate them before letting people adopt them. When I know for sure (on the 22nd of this month when I have the ultrasound done), I’m contacting a local breeder to pay him to help me with the entire process, to be my "breeding mentor". I’m not irresponsible. I’m a sophomore in college and have lived on my own for two years, as well as having worked consistently since I was 14. I just don’t believe in abortions. And the reason she wasn’t spayed is very complicated and does not have to do with finances. This all has nothing to do with my question, it’s just sort of a disclaimer. Answer my insurance questions, don’t tell me what to do with my dog is basically what I’m trying to say.

Thanks!

Pet insurance for my dog?

I recently heard that you can get insurance for your pets so you just have a co-pay when you take them to the vet or get reimbursed by the insurance company to some degree, but I’ve heard that some are much better than others.

I have a boxer/american bull dog mix and she’s about 5 now. She’s not in bad health, but I’d like to look into this. I’m wondering if anyone has insurance on their pet(s) and by what company. How do you like it/dislike it? What is the cost? Is it worth it? What company would you recommend…or advise me to stay away from?

Thanks!

list of cat breeders?

i am on my friends account again i was wondering why i see so very few registered purebred felines but loads of dogs?

most cats are just picked up off the road here.

is their a listing of cat breeders in TX? i lost a cat recently of old age and have some ideas but i want to see what breeds are available to me.

i didnt find any of the breeds i liked in the shelter and most were feral when i went to look. (as i said most are dumped then picked up by the road) i dont want a feral cat

so is their a listing of cat breeders in TX? (i tried google but couldnt find it) where would i look for a breeder of purebred cats?

i also like the idea of buying a purebred from a reputable breeder because then i can know the health a little better rather than picking up a cat off the road like my last one and having it die of a hereditary defect.

do not judge or you will be reported
i said that wrong originally i had two cats the one with the defect died before the other which died of old age. they were two fixed females

My kitten is ill and I need advice.?

My kitten is about 12 weeks old and has been normal up until a few days ago. He’s started not wanting to nurse and has become very lazy (for lack of better word). He has also been urinating frequently but not as normal felines do. He jsut sits there and lets it get everywhere. I’ve been havign to feed him formula form a bottle which he does not want to eat. It’s starting to worry me a lot. I set up an appointment with his vet but it’s not unitl next wed. and I’m worried soemthing might seriosuly be wrong. I can call the Humane SOciety and say it’s an emergency and they’ll come and take him and nurse him back to health but I love my kitten. I’m just wondering if anybody has had a cat go throguh the same htin gbecause I have no clue what it is. If worse comes to worse I will contact the Humane Socitey to come get him but if I can wait until Wed. I will. If you have any idea what it might be or need more info, please ocntact me.
He will not eat soft food and I’m not just going to "put it in a bowl on the floor" and hope he eats it. I care about my animal and somethings wrong with him.

food for urinary tract infection?

THE VET GAVE ME A PRESCRIPTION FOR PURINA UR FELINE 4# FOOD. I HAVEN’T SHOPPED AROUND YET BUT I’M GUESSING A PRESCRIPTION FOOD IS MORE EXPENSIVE. I CLEARLY WANT WHAT’S BEST FOR MY BEST FRIEND (THE CAT) BUT AM UNHAPPY HAVING TO BUY MORE EXPENSIVE FOOD. I WILL AT SOME TIME TALK TO THE VET, BUT I KNOW I’VE SEEN FOOD IN STORES THAT SAY THEY PROTECT CATS FROM URI. WHAT I NEED TO KNOW, ARE THESE NON-SCRIP FOODS EFFECTIVE AS THE SCRIP ONES?

THIS (THE URI PROBLEM) IS NEW TO ME AND I’M UPSET, ….THE HEALTH OF THE CAT, MORE EXPENSIVE FOOD, AND SO ON. I’M JUST CONCERNED ABOUT MY BABY (EMMET, MY CAT). WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THE SCRIP VS. NON-SCRIP FOOD ISSUE? IS NON-SCRIP VERY EFFECTIVE?. NEXT ISSUE, WATER, HOW CAN I GET THE CAT TO DRINK MORE. THE VET MENTIONED A LITTLE FOUNTAIN, CATS MAY LIKE MOVING WATER. HE ALSO MENTIONED A WATER FLAVORING LIKE TUNA. ANY SUGGESTIONS?

YOU’LL HAVE TO EXCUSE, "TOM" ALWAYS HAS A LOT OF QUESTIONS AND ALSO IS A LITTLE UPSET. THANKS.

I am looking for a qualified veterinarian who is more interested in the quality of life for my cats than the quantity in his/her bank account. Since declawing is a horrendously cruel act done only for uninformed pet owners and fast money for the vet, I would like to find a vet who refuses to declaw. I want the health and comfort of my cats to come first. If you have a website with a list of such veterinarians, I would really appreciate it. The last vet I went to had just spade a cat and performed 10 amputations - the cat had come back due to infections and not healing from this horrible trauma. I never want to witness such cruelty again on a visit to a vet.

I want to feed homemade canned cat food?

I currently feed wellness grain free. I am happy with the food but the cost is starting to really catch up with us at a 12.5 oz can. I have a whole bunch of cats I am embarassed to say but its 10++. So the cost is a big deal even saving 10-20 cents a can makes a difference, although I would like to save more than that. Not to mantion I need to travel far to get any premium pet food, and there is conflicting schedules with getting a ride and then tring to make it accross town before the place closes.

I do not want to put them back on friskeys or great value ever if I can help it. I would feel so terrible. I dont want to sacrifice their health to save money. I want to save because I found a better way.

So I am really considering making my own cat food and canning it myself. Has anybody else done this and what am I in for?

I understand about special feline nutrition and the importance of turine, no I am not an expert but I realize its a factor to be considered and studied.

I know raw can be most ideal, but for one I am really concerned about bacteria and the cause of toxoplasmosis. And of course ill kitties. Also I cant prepare fresh raw 2 times a day everyday, freezing is an option I would get a deep freezer for this purpose. Does thawing affect bacteria growth? Should I be worried? I would feed primarily chicken maybe some turkey. No beef pork and rarley fish.

I would love to can it because I can go a large amount in one day and have enough for the week or even month. The canning will cook it and kill bacteria. No freezer needed, no thawing time to consider. I also dont want to bake or fry/saute food and add more carcinogens that I can avoid. Canning will cook it in the can or jar.

So far I planned on getting canning equipment, a meat grinder, taurine supplement and chicken thighs.

I was reading about homemade food online and they said to only feed homemade canned food only for emergencies or if someone else is feeding and caring for them. Why? Can I just feed all the time I dont understand. I feed them all canned now so…If someone could shed some light on this for me I would be interested.

I would like to hear everyones input to help me make this decision, I love my kitties and only want the best for them.

Sorry for the lengthy question, I just manted to be clear where I am at so i can get a better answer. Thanks for answering.

Two questions about my new kitten?

I adopted a new 4 month old kitten from the shelter on Monday. The vet said she is healthy, except for a few fleas which I am treating her for. I had him do a feline leukemia and FIV test, which were both negative. Since I have other cats, he said to keep her separate from them for about another week just to be on the safe side. She has been sneezing, which is the only concern I have. Is there anything else I need to look for regarding her health before introducing her to my other cats? Also I know she is unhappy being locked in the bathroom right now. Since I work all day, I can’t spend as much time with her as I would like to keep her company. What kinds of things can I do to keep her from getting lonely and uncomfortable? Thanks!

Maine Coon Kitten Sneezing? (9 Weeks)?

I just purchased my Maine Coon kitten last week, and since I had brought home, he has had some kind of runny nose and is sneezing. He also makes a weird meow, but I have heard that Maine Coons are notorious for that.

I plan on taking him to the vet tomorrow, but I am concerned about his health.

He is drinking, eating and playing well, including purring and snuggling. Although last night he peed on my bed, which raises a red flag for me (feline UTI?), but hasn’t done it since. I don’t know whether or not he was just jealous or what.

He has had ALL of his shots/wormers, and I purchased him from a very reputable breeder.

Horse insurance? (please answer fast.lol)?

What is it? Like, I am new to buying my own horse, so please explain a lot about it!!!

Thanks!
Alright, honestly I am not that stupid. What I mean is how it works (come on I am 12!!) Where is the best place to get it?? STUFF LIKE THAT!
Well, I will be boarding him where I bought him. I know the owner, and I 100% trust her and it is basically impossible for a horse to get to the road. One top of their paster, there is a fence around the property, and a fence that blocks the way to get in unless you unclip it. Mine is with health. What is the best place?

I feed my two Ragdoll cats ORIJEN Dry Cat Food, and they love it! Their coats are just amazing and they are so energetic and so healthy. Nevertheless, I’ve been reading lots and lots of articles on how feeding wet food in conjunction with dry food is absolutely important for their health in the long run. I like Orijen because it’s grain-free and it best resembles a feline diet in the wild; it has human-grade meats and none of the grains or carbohydrates that are biologically inappropriate to cats. My cats LOVE to drink water. I guess I’ve been blessed since I know some people have issues with their cats because they don’t like drinking water and so they get urinary infections, etc.
What brand of wet food is the BEST? Cost is not an issue, all I want is to feed my cats the BEST food possible. Also, will my cats get diarrhea when I start feeding them wet food? How much and how often is it recommended to feed wet food?
I’m not completely changing their food, as some people are thinking. I want to add wet food to their diet as recommended.
I’m in Washington DC, US

License All horse trainers?

Do you think licensing trainers would benefit the housing and health of the horse.
Would it increase the quality of training and instruction.
Would this make the barns and show grounds a safer place for everyone.
Would this inturn cut insurance costs
Would it reduce the amount of horses incorrectly trained, poorly treated
Would there be less horse owners being cheated and misled, then leaving the horse industry with a bad taste in their mouth
Would the overall quality of the horse industry benefit by this and as a result encourage more people to participate in one of the most rewarding experiences anyone can get

Pets play an important role in our lives today, as members of our families. In history, those same animal types were used for different purposes. The luxuries we give our pets today originated from need of them in history. I am a pet groomer, and would like to know some history relating to my profession, but am unable to find a satisfactory quantity of infomation. What historical events were caused by these pets, the use of them and the methods of maintaining their health?
