My cat started losing weight a year or two ago and he was diagnosed with an overactive thyroid. He never really gained the weight back and I did worry about his health some but we were doing all we could. He’s been on pills for that. Two days ago, when he got up, he was making weird sounds and attempting to throw up, but without doing so. I called the vet but also thought he was coughing up a furball.

The vet did a blood test and he has feline AIDS, or FIV. He is critical now; it is apparently in an advanced stage. He does look to be in discomfort and very lethargic and such. Can anyone tell me something about this such as… Well, the vet said I could bring him home on pain medication if I wanted. They are waiting for me to call and say what to do. I don’t want the cat to suffer but I also don’t want to euthanize him if he could maybe recover enough to live happy for awhile.

Does anyone have experience with this disease? What should I do? I said I would call within an hour or so. Thanks.

P.S. This cat is the only reason I have to live at all. There is NOTHING else good in my life. The only reason I ever get up at all is because I know he will be around.

I have just rehomed a green cheek conure who loves to preen my hair. The only problem is that I blow dry my hair with mousse that has alcohol and avocado oil in it. Will it be detrimental to her health if she’s playing with my hair? Thanks.

Do you have a favourite cat among yours? If yes, what caused the likes? And can this cat feel anyhow he./she is special?

As for me, I have 2 feline brothers, and like the younger more: due to coinciding characters, I think: he’s calm, introverted, and never annoying. Maybe, his cuter appearance and smaller size also work, but poorer health and necessity to feed him expensive chow – don’t.
None of kitties gets more attention than the other, though, and there are no privileges for either of them. The younger only has funnier name, but cats don’t understand Russian, right?

Our dog recently had to have very costly emergency surgery and we are considering getting pet insurance, so that in the event that this ever happens again we’ll be prepared. We have two dogs and estimate that we spend between 00 and 00 a year on preventative medication and vet bills. Just wondering what people’s experiences have been with pet insurance. Is it really worth it? We love our dogs and consider them our children, we’d like to not have to think about money when it comes to making descisions that affect their health.

Well i have a lab(4) and a terrier mix (10) and they always seem to be getting hurt. Last october my lab started limping so i took her into the vet spent bucks and they couldnt tell me what was wrong, so then i took her to another vet and spent and he told me she had torn her cruciate ligament in her knee. In december i spent 00+ getting the ligament repaired. In march i spent because she got kennel cough and last week i spent 0 because she is limping all over again! And my terrier is getting up there in age so im sure she will start to be neededing to be in the vet as well. Its crazy how many times im there so i thought i should start looking into insurance for them. Do you know of any that would best fit our need lol thanks.
For the health of my dogs price is not really a problem.

My landlord is asking me to get insurance for my dog but its not for like health and stuff its for something else. She told me about renters insurance. And i don’t know what to do. Plz help

I have a 31 week old American Bulldog puppy with everything but a good temperament as promised by the breeder. I have to give him away because a behavioral trainer said there is really nothing that can be done about this puppy. The breeder will not give me my money back, and said if they would take the dog back, they would just let him get hit by a car. Well, I want to know, in the state of Illinois, how can one get a breeder’s license revoked. I have contacted the Ag department and they said it doesn’t fall under the humane animal act. Well, what else can I try?
They are an Illinois Licensed breeder. In this state I believe all breeders must have a license. And I did do research. They seemed fine, I got a health gaurantee and the puppy was microchipped.

I would say the USDA, but if that is the case, wouldn’t there be some kind of regulations as far as puppy mills?

Animal Artwork, I love my dog, but he is mean, he will even try biting at me. This dog is NOT mentally right. There is something wrong with his genetics which is causing this problem. It is like a light switch, he will be completely happy one moment and the next he wants to kill people. And he has been like this since shortly after I bought him. I have tried talking to the breeder about this, and they are giving me nothing at all. As I have mentioned before, I have talked to a behavioral specialist, he said there is very little hope for the puppy. I feel so bad about giving him to someone else. I love him to pieces. I just don’t want to get bit.

I have a 6 year old cat, Libby. I just took her to the vet 2-3 weeks ago to get her shots and she checked out in wonderful health. In the past few days she seems to be declining rapidly. She went from having a beautiful coat to having several knots. Even scarier she began to limp…it seems to change which legs/feet she favors. She’s been hiding a lot in our walk up attic and barely eats/drinks. I’ve been babying her a lot and she purrs often. Yet I’m still scared she feels horrible. Please don’t just tell me to go to the vet…trust me, I’m calling first thing in the morning… In the meantime…has anyone else experienced this with their loving feline?

With today gas prices and food going up the future is heading into a depression.
Middle class will now be poor class. There are ways of surviving if we just replace horses instead of using are cars this also will reduce pollution, car accidents. This is another way of making Mother Nature healthier and fresher. For are selves and nature
A lot of people have garages we could customize it to be a barn.
And to maintain a horse all we need is some carrots, hay and water and educated are selves about are health of are horses and we would be find. I want this to happen but it would take all of America help. Would you agree or you still like to pay for cars, gas, car insurance and all that crap.

I am getting her tested today…just want your opinion…

Ok my boyfriend and I picked up a stray on Saturday. she was very healthy and upon adopting her I thought she was tesetd for feline aids/lukemia. She was a stray that was found in an apartment complex in a suburban area. but when i called yesterday for her paperwork and asked, the shelter said she was so healthy they didn’t find it necessary to check for feline aids/lukemia because they have other cats that needed to be tended to first. With all of that being said, i thought the whole time she was not infected. i have another cat at home and we kept them seperate but cats will be cats and they made their way out of their rooms. they did not come in contact with one another physically but they already shared bowls and water and litter.

i find out yesterday that she was never tested and i am freaking out. i had her checked out and they said she was spayed and really healthy and it should be ok but i just feel terrible thinking that i potentially got my other cat sick and jeapordized his health because of me.

i called the lady from the shelter and she said that she was healthy and they would have known if she was sick…she was there since november of 09.

ill find out the results just wanted to know your opinion. thanks.

1. Where is the best place to get dog insurance?
2. Are they reliable?
3. When it says they’ll pay 8,000 a year, is it really true?
4. How exactly does the insurance work?
5. My dog may be pregnant, will they still insure her?
6. Do they insure to people under 18? I’ll be 18 March 26th this month, but by then if she is pregnant, she’ll be 1/3 of the way through it. Earlier the better in my opinion.

I want to ensure that my dog gets the best possible treatment, and her and the pups come out healthy. This was unplanned, a dog broke in through my window while she was in heat 3/1, but I’m not aborting her & I’m a responsible dog owner, willing to do whatever it takes to ensure the best possible health, including spending thousands at the vet. I have quite a savings, but it’d be nice to have insurance to keep some of those savings for grad school.

If you just want to yell at me for being 17 and breeding dogs, don’t bother. Trust me, I know all of the horrors out there. I know that "I’m contributing to dogs in shelters". I’m not trying to make an easy buck and I’ve done quite a bit of research. The adopted puppies owners will sign a contract stating that the puppies will come back to me if they ever get rid of them for any reason and I will vaccinate them before letting people adopt them. When I know for sure (on the 22nd of this month when I have the ultrasound done), I’m contacting a local breeder to pay him to help me with the entire process, to be my "breeding mentor". I’m not irresponsible. I’m a sophomore in college and have lived on my own for two years, as well as having worked consistently since I was 14. I just don’t believe in abortions. And the reason she wasn’t spayed is very complicated and does not have to do with finances. This all has nothing to do with my question, it’s just sort of a disclaimer. Answer my insurance questions, don’t tell me what to do with my dog is basically what I’m trying to say.
