I have a cat I found on my job about 8 months ago. I paid for him to be neutered and declawed also for his shots he was a house cat. One day he became very sick. I took him to the vet rather than to see him die at home I wanted to get the help he needed. The Vet said he had renal failure and he needed anti biotics and a I.V. I thought he would be fine. He indeed came out to be okay but the bill was 0. I don’t have that kind of money. I found the cat when hes was 6 weeks old. I nursed him to health and he had a heart condition according to the Vet. I explained to them I could not afford such a high vet bill. I asked if I could make payments, they said yes but I would have to pay a day until I get him out. I don’t know who to turn to for help. My 4 children miss the cat his name is Jazz. Please send me some info on how to get financial help with my cats bill so I can get him home.

What is the BEST age to spay a female dog?

I’ve heard that you should spay ASAP, I’ve heard that you should wait until her first heat, but I’m wondering, dog’s health in mind and assuming she will be ABSOLUTELY safe should the appropriate time come after her first heat, what is the right time?

There are reasons not to trust the answers of most, vets included, the most important is that most people are more concerned with controlling the over population than what will be best for the little b*tch. What’s the right age to spay, dog’s health in mind?

Which is best in the long run?

Hey,
So my friend is going back to college, and wants a betta fish. Well, getting the fish or not is not up for consideration, she intends to get the fish no matter what. It’s the only pet she can have there, and plans to go through with it regardless of what I say or show her ( my many guys and gals are living like kings and queens in 5 and 6 gallon filtered and heated homes).
The thing is, she’s perpetually broke.
So, I’m going to get her the heater no mater what, that’s not a problem. At the very least, they’ll be the proper temp.
The problem is the actual housing.
She wants to get either the 1.5 water wonders tank with filter http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.js… or a larger roughly 4 gallon glass bowl she saw at Home Goods.
Either way, they work out to be about the same price, so no help there.
What’s better for the betta fish? Space or filtration?
I’m a poor college student myself, so helping out with a heater for her x-mas present is as far as I can really go (I’m tapped out after x-mas shopping).
In the long run, what’s best for the betta’s health; about 4 gallons of water to stretch his fins out so to speak, but no filtration, or a smaller tank that has a filter?
Help! I want to steer her in the best direction : (

Pet Tortoise is causing Health Problems?

I’ve had my pet tortoise for about two months, recently my health has dropped dramatically. I’m also allergic to our pet guinea pig who is also in the house,
I think its the guinea pig and we’re going to get rid of her soon but my parents are arguing that it could be caused by the tortoise because my neighbour told them how friends of her’s started getting really sick and the tortoise was discovered as the cause of it.
Its an 8 year old Russian Horsefield Tortoise.
Can someone please give any advice??

Aquarium plants?

I have some plastic plants in my aquarium right now and I have been reading up the benefits of real plants. I was wondering, although I plan on buying some from my local pet store, what are some plants, if any, that I could find outside that would be good in my aquarium? If I happen to find any good plants (taken from the suggestions I recieve from other Yahoo Answers users), what should I do to make sure they are completely sanitary and wont jeopardize my fish’s health in any way? I live in Southern Florida, if that helps any. I would like to know, partly out of curiousity, and partly for the fact that I don’t want to spend money on something I can find right in my backyard.

Thank you in advance.

Can I implant canine embryos inside my uterus?

I was wondering if it would be okay for my health to implant canine embryos(embryos of a dog) inside me for a science project. Who knows how many awards I’d win if I did this experiment!

I work at a vet clinic, and we get a lot of clients that come in because their pet is sick, but they can’t afford ALL of the vet bills to help make them well. I hear a lot of people put Pet Owners down when they can’t afford all the medical bills. They say "You shouldn’t own a pet if you can’t afford the vet bills." But when you say that you are making assumptions that the owner got the pet knowing they couldn’t afford it.

Sometimes people have a lot of extra money, and decide to get a dog. They think they are set for any emergencies that come up. BUT, then they unexpectedly get fired, or someone in the family gets seriously ill and can’t work for a few weeks. How are they supposed to predict this kind of thing? I don’t think anyone Ever wants their pet to remain ill.

I know that sometimes there are people who would put their diamond earrings before their pet’s health, but it is unfair to assume that everyone is like this. What do you think?
I know what you are saying, I have seen people who do have the money, or could have the money, and don’t WANT to spend it on vet bills to help their pet. But I guess what I was saying is that you can’t assume that everyone is like that. I knew a lady who’s dog ended up having cancer. She took a second mortgage on her house to treat him. It got to a point where she just DIDN’T have any money left, and instead of doing chemo, she had to just keep him comfortable during the time he had left.

And I know of a couple whose dog needed vaccines. The husband recently got laid off, they were having a rough time, and couldn’t afford to get yearly blood work and a urinalysis done. I heard people around the clinic chattering that ‘they shouldn’t have a dog if they can’t afford it.’ But when they got the dog, they could afford him. They love him, and do what they can. I guess my point is, Don’t judge someone until you know their circumstance.

My kitten eats dog food and my dogs eat the kitten food . We don’t feed it to them purpose it just occasionally happens.
Also my kitten likes dog treats better than her own cat treats . why do they like the opposite food ? Is it harmful to their health?

A cat that has been in my family since 1993 recently passed away. I know that a lot of people don’t consider cats to have much an impact on anything, but this one did. She was a member of my family and one of my best friends. Its been about a week since she died and my grief is now beginning to effect my health. I have lost about 20 pounds (muscle tone, not fat) and have very little energy or motivation to do anything.

I do not like feeling this way and I am looking for some kind of plan or set of steps to lift me out of the funk I am in. It only seems to be getting worse. I’ve also noticed that others do not appreciate the loss and seem to think it is ridiculous that I would be upset over the passing of an animal. To me this cat was like a person. She had a complex personality and made me feel welcome, appreciated, and loved. I am not dealing with the loss well at all.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

i live in a rabies free country and i am planning on bringing my animals with me back to the states…they will all have rabies shots and health certificiates, i was just wondering if connecticut has any certain time frame like the shot has to be 30 days prior to travel….I know thats what it says for US in general but I know that traveling into New Jersey, as long as they do have the shot it doesnt matter if it was a week before or 30 days before, theres no time frame

I was all set for planning to get a cat when I saw the application that asked if my other pets have all their shots. I haven’t been able to pay for my dog’s health in the past because I didn’t have a job. It’s very rare he leaves the house, much less encounter something that could make him sick. Will they reject my application because of this?

My american pit bull terrier has soft mushy stools. I took him to the vet and the vet suggested that my 12 week old puppy be given a pet food with 6% crude fiber in it. currently I am feeding him wellness super5mix just for puppies which contains not more than 5% crude fiber. I want to stay within the wellness brand but the only other pet food that has more crude fiber than what I already own is a health mix for overweight dogs and has not more than 8% crude fiber.

Is there another pet food you could recommend that stays as close to a raw diet as wellness and meets my crude fiber requirements? Is there another source/food/supplement I can feed to my dog to meet the crude fiber requirements of 6%?

i know it sounds sleazy. but this the worst thing i ever have done.

we live in a complex and there is a pet limit. we already have 2 cats. but rescued these adorable kittens. they were 3 weeks old. in bad shape. so the plan was to rescue them and find a good home.

and somewhere between bottle feedings, and nursing them back to health. we fell in love with them.

i am sure you understand.

now all the apartments in the complex where we live are being inspected next week.

we don’t know what day or time. just that they will hit our building one day next week.

i have TRIED to adopt them out. we had a home . but at the last minute yesterday, the guy hesitated. and now is not sure because his girlfriend changed he remind and does not want them. she wants an all white kitten. which only made me want to keep them.

if the complex mangers see 4 cats we will be evicted.

and as stupid as it sounds, i really am STILL trying to hide them some way.
?????????

ANY THOUGHTS??
