I just took my 7 week old puppy to banfield for a physical and a check up, they gave a pamphlet about their puppy optimum wellness plans, I am planning on getting her spayed so Im thinking of choosing to enter the second puppy plan. It’s pretty affordable. For an entire year you pay 311.40, and you make payments of 25.95 a month, and that includes all her shots, spaying, any hospital visits, all her check ups, tests they run for her health.
Im just wondering if anyone had any experience with them and are they a good place to take my little girl.
Also I considered that price to be reasonable, is that overpriced?

where would be the first place you went? You want a purebred, registered, family dog. Well, most likely you’d look in the newspaper first or possibly go to the pet shop.. You don’t want to pay more than 0 for the dog.

That’s how most people are, right? So they end up going to BYBs, right? So, m question is, what would be a good way to educate the public about Reputable breeders? Obviously the typical person looking for a dog isn’t going to search around (most likely not…), so if RBs went to the general public?

By going to people, I mean an RB putting an add in the paper like:

"Litter *planned* of AKC registered Chihuahuas. Both parents shown and health tested. Taking deposits now. Show and pet puppies should be produced."

Something along those lines. Would that be a good idea? Yes, most RBs will have waiting lists for puppies, but this way when someone calls, they (the RB) can either tell the person they can add them to a waiting list, or the RB can help that person find another good breeder with puppies available.

So, good idea? Any other ideas on the subject?
I’m talking about average people who don’t know about reputable breeders…

What do you think about organic dog foods? We were thinking about switching our Chihuahua to organic food instead of the stuff he’s eating now. (Right now he’s eating Science Diet.) Do you think dogs are normally healthier on organic dog food, or are they at about the same level of health either way?

How long do rabies shots last for cats and have you heard that people are now saying annual shots for pets are bad for their health?

to pay for a life-saving surgery or treat a terminal illness? If you have never had to do this, do you believe that pet owners should factor in these health/economic issues before they get a pet? Do you believe that all pet owners should get pet insurance in order to help with vet expenses, especially a plan that goes beyond basic coverage?

Personally, I don’t judge people who have had their pets euthanized for economic reasons. Sometimes life tosses you hardballs and you just can’t avoid this. You are forced to make this painful decision, rather than have your pet suffer which would be cruel. I am dead-set against irresponsible pet ownership, but in situations like this–I feel that one could only exhaust their finances so far. If they don’t have the money, they just don’t. If you disagree with this, how would you go about getting the finances to save your pet’s life. Borrow from family, sell stuff off, take out a loan? Please share your thoughts. I appreciate it.

BTW, all my pets are healthy, so I am not asking this for myself. This is just a general question I thought I put out there.

I recently purchased a Hairless rat as a pet. She is very friendly and very curious about everything. I read that they have special needs when it comes to keeping them war due to having no fur for warmth. I read that it is usually best to keep them with other rats that have fur. I have two other rats as pets, as well. One is a gray and white domestic and the other is a black and white Dumbo rat. So, I put my Hairless rat with those two so she could keep warm. But, I have noticed that being with them is resulting in her having scratches all over her body and I am worried about her health. I plan on coming up with another solution today, but what is another way to ensure that she will be warm enough without her ending up all scratched up?

I am looking for health for my miniature pinscher puppy of 8 weeks… I was wondering what is the best insurance that covers Accident, Illness, medication, (plus Routine Care if possible) for a decent monthly rate? It would be great if the premium does not increase as the dog ages. I am currently looking at Trupanion and Petfirst, but not really sure… Would anyone recommend some insurances that would and did not work for them?

I have two neutered male cats who are 7 and 8 years old. I’ve had them since they were kittens and they have always been indoor cats.
They never go outside and never have contact with animals who do go outside. The last few years I have not taken them in for their vaccinations. I weigh them and keep track of their health at home. Of course I would take them straight in to a vet if they were ill. But, for the most part I feel like vaccinations are a waste.
This has nothing to do with not having enough money, time, or not being a responsible pet owner, etc. I love my cats and I would hate for them to have any type of illness.
I just think the risk that comes with vaccinations outweighs the chance of them contracting anything.
I know some diseases can be contracted without a cat having to go outdoors. What are they? What vaccinations are absolutely necessary for a strictly indoor cat?
I’d like to make an informed decision regarding this so any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

My cat sunk his claw into me because he was freaked out. Everyone told me to go to the Emergency room so it doesn’t get infected. Of course I had to fill out an animal bite form. Will the Bureau of Environmental health have to tell the military housing office because I live on a military base?
I had to go to the ER because he punctured my tendon and my hand swelled out to the point I couldn’t use it.

She is a little cold feeling and she wont open her eyes all the way, and she is really lazy. She was perfectly fine this morning, im not sure what is wrong with her. She’s had water and food and a warm place to sleep. She gets out of her a cage a lot, and had plenty of exercise in her ball. Im not sure what i should do to nurse her back to health? she is eating, but with her eyes basically shut! i love my little rat, i have to help her!

I want to get my dog affordable insurance, to put her vaccines, checkups, etc.
Wer not very rich, and I know its not right to think twice about your pet’s health just to save a few extra dollars, but unfortanatly that’s how tough the economy is now.

ok so for the past 2 weeks i have been dizzy all the time and then yesterday i was a lil sick with a low grade fever but im much better today i haven’t been up much so i am not sure how dizzy i am i am thinking i might not be dizzy anymore because when i was i was dizzy even when i was sitting down so idk but ever since yesterday he wont leave my side at all really i mean yeah he usually follows me to the bathroom and everything but ever since yesterday he has been really cuddling up to me on the bed like laying on me and he never does that unless were playing and every time i start shaking my legs he looks at me hes also just been staring at me sometimes and looking around the house when were in bed at night my fiance said he has been doing that alot lately i haven’t been able to see a doc i don’t have the money and i don’t have insurance plus i have so many bills i wasn’t worried about my health we also think that one or 2 of our female dogs might have tb so idk if i could have contracted that or not i just need some help im worried about my health after him doing this

Like we humans have medicaid to aid us when we’re broke and need a physical and such [lol]… do pets have such a thing as well?
I’m hoping for some help on this because I really wanna be able to afford my dog’s health.
Recently I was given a black labrador puppy by a friend of mine as a gift… unfortunately my family’s kinda broke at this time, and as we all know, vets tend to be tons more expensive than regular doctors.
I really wanna be able to care for this puppy, I really don’t wanna lose her to things such as parvo.
