I have a great dane who is almost a year old, and we want to install an Invisible fence for her in our yard. I don’t know much about them, and was wondering if anyone could give me any advice on what brands are good, what is the best wire type, etc. I’m clueless and I want to get something that will work best on her, especially when she is full grown at 150 lbs. Thanks in advance!

My invisible fence came unconnected and my dog got free before I could fix it. It’s is fixed now and I was wondering, will I have to retrain her or will she hear the bell and come back? Thanks!

I have 2 cats w/claws and am moving in with my fiance who has a lot of expensive furniture inc. a leather couch in the family room. I need to keep my cats away from this, along with furniture in the livingroom. They are 4 yrs old so I do NOT want to get them declawed and since I lived in an apt. with them they are scratchers because I had old furniture and never trained them. Any suggestions? What about an indoor invisible fence or those pet barriers they sell? Please help….

We will be getting a small dog in a matter of time, and were thinking about setting up an invisible fence for the dog so we would not have to mask our yard behind a fence; problem is, we have no experience with these fences so what type of fence would you reccomend for a dog?
ok it seems like an "invisible fence" is not too popular. Well then what type of fence should I get?

The house I just moved into has an existing invisible fence system and I am having someone come out to train my husky on the invisible fence. My husky will chase anything that moves, cats, dogs, bunnies, birds, squirrels etc. I am worried that he will still run through the shock if he sees an animal to chase. Has anybody had success with a husky and an invisible fence even though they love to chase small animals?!

I have been told by a friend that a neighbor had other hunting dogs, German Shorthairs, and he put up an invisible fence, but when they got it in their head to hunt, they took the jolt and kept on running. I hate to keep our dogs in the pen all the time when we have room for them to run around, but I don’t want to spend the money if it is not going to work anyway. The younger male already got hit by a car following the older female. He got lucky but I don’t want to ever go through that again.

My great grandmother just got a dog. He is two years old and barks a lot when he is outside. So we were wondering if it is inhumane to muzzle a dog while no one is home and he is outside (he would be on an invisible fence).

I am considering using a training collar to teach my dog boundaries. I need to be able to keep her off leash, but she runs off if I let her off the leash. A fence, even an invisible fence, is out of the question as its not my house. I’ve tried teaching her boundaries for the last 5 months but it is not working well. She won’t respond to "come" unless she’s in the mood. I want to use a shock collar but I worry it may be inhumane. Are they effective and are they safe to use?

I have an Invisible Fence unit but you have to replace the batteries in the collar every 3 mos. I can get a collar from Intek that only needs replacing every 2 yrs. I wonder if they are interchangable.

I want an invisible dog fence that I can put around most of my yard, but have a break in it at the driveway as that’s an area that I’d like my dog to be able to access freely (without me having to take his collar off). Think of a circle with a bit taken out of it.
Is there a way to configure an invisible fence to do this?

We have a neighborhood thinking of installing an invisible fence as a method for dogs to be off leash in the community’s green space and I have never heard of using this nor can find anything on the internet that mentions this for an "off leash" area – anyone have any thoughts or ideas??
