Hey,
So my friend is going back to college, and wants a betta fish. Well, getting the fish or not is not up for consideration, she intends to get the fish no matter what. It’s the only pet she can have there, and plans to go through with it regardless of what I say or show her ( my many guys and gals are living like kings and queens in 5 and 6 gallon filtered and heated homes).
The thing is, she’s perpetually broke.
So, I’m going to get her the heater no mater what, that’s not a problem. At the very least, they’ll be the proper temp.
The problem is the actual housing.
She wants to get either the 1.5 water wonders tank with filter http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.js… or a larger roughly 4 gallon glass bowl she saw at Home Goods.
Either way, they work out to be about the same price, so no help there.
What’s better for the betta fish? Space or filtration?
I’m a poor college student myself, so helping out with a heater for her x-mas present is as far as I can really go (I’m tapped out after x-mas shopping).
In the long run, what’s best for the betta’s health; about 4 gallons of water to stretch his fins out so to speak, but no filtration, or a smaller tank that has a filter?
Help! I want to steer her in the best direction : (

Does any1 no what kind of snake is this???? My dad found it under our boat, i put it in a tank. Is it poisinous????? It is black wih white dots down its back. It rattles its tail but theres nothing on there its just a regular snake tail. LOL. my dad says its a chicken snake! is it???

it has not fangs, i dont think it has teeeth either
it strikes at the side of the tank when i tap on it and i dont see any fangs

Or should there be some law that limits the daily consumption to a moderate level?

Reason I’m asking is because today, I bumped into one of my drinking buddies from the past and they are still in the habit. I asked him what has he been up to. He responded with a list of at least 100 problems he is going through right now…fired from his job, eviction notice, bad health and no health insurance, unpaid child support, legal problems, his dog died, someone broke into his house and stole everything, broken down car and the list goes on…

This is common with people who drink on a regular basis. It’s obvious that alcohol destroys lives, yet, it is legal and the marketing business for it is always booming.

I know some will respond with "I drink and it doesn’t effect me". Well, that’s not the case with most people who drink. Most drinkers are living a life of hell.
Hmm.

The drunks have spoken.

Who do I contact regarding laws, regulations and health issues relating to our dog sitting business? We watch multiple dogs in a cage free invironment in our home. We have insurance and we are bonded. We want to comply on all levels, local, city, county & state. Also, can they shut us down if we are not in complience?

What are my options? I have to register my dog because he bit someone who was assaulting another person. If i register him to my rented house will they increase my landlords insurance even thought I have my own renters insurance now? Will they notify him that the dog is registered to the house? I live in CT. Are my only options to re-home him? What are some loop holes i can work with?

ETA: But the mome would have been infected during breeding, right? So could we just test the mom (who is a stray) and know or would we have to test each kitten?

What are the risks and side effects of the Leptospirosis vaccine for dogs? Specifically an 8 month, 7 lbs, Chihuahua/Dachshund crossbreed?

…and I just want a straightforward answer, not a scolding on the morality of pet vaccinations. A simple list of the side effects will be helpful enough.
Also, we live in the unincorporated part of Weatherford, Texas… you know, lots of open space and untamed wild life.
My dog will eat other animals poop if I don’t keep a close eye on her and she IS NOT afraid of other animals. She tried to play with an armadillo the other day (nothing bad happened, it just ran away) (she’s not allowed outside at night anymore).

Yes, I know Texas has very few cases of lepto, but given all the untamed animals in this area, wild dogs included, getting the vaccination is a serious consideration. I just want to know what I’ll actually be in for when I make the decision.
…to those of you who have gotten the vaccination, how did your dog react?
Again, I’m asking about the side effects of the vaccine… not the infection it self, and not how unnecessary the vaccine is. If anyone has had a pet take this vaccine and experienced a bad reaction, please share your story. I’ve already had one person tell me they had no reactions at all, so.
