I have a 4month old female pomeranian. She just had her THIRD vaccination
1st vaccine : dewormed & vaccinated (basic)
2nd : dewormed & vaccinated
3rd. dewormed, vaccinated, rabies & on kennel cough medication (she was caught with a small symptom of it)
the kennel cough medication is used the day after for appx 2 days then a week later she will have offical kennel cough shot
My dog also has puppy classes on sunday, and today she was shot on friday.. Do you think it’s a good idea for her to go? or skip this class and redo it again at another time? or is it okay? How long does it take for the shots to affect the dog’s system? a day?
ps : all pet’s at the training class are all vaccinated with certificate (up to date) ALL SHOTS puppy class from 3-6 months of age
note : my puppy training was talking to me over the phone before the first class started (it was inprivate cause I missed one) and she was anxious to see my dog’s medical record or to remind me to bring it.. I told her that I would get the shot on the same day as her first PRIVATE lesson (she will have access to other dogs in the lesson nexts class due to her late sign up)
note : she’s already sore

Well i have a lab(4) and a terrier mix (10) and they always seem to be getting hurt. Last october my lab started limping so i took her into the vet spent bucks and they couldnt tell me what was wrong, so then i took her to another vet and spent and he told me she had torn her cruciate ligament in her knee. In december i spent 00+ getting the ligament repaired. In march i spent because she got kennel cough and last week i spent 0 because she is limping all over again! And my terrier is getting up there in age so im sure she will start to be neededing to be in the vet as well. Its crazy how many times im there so i thought i should start looking into insurance for them. Do you know of any that would best fit our need lol thanks.
For the health of my dogs price is not really a problem.

The dogs at the SPCA with it get put down immediately , once we find out that they have it. I know it is often masked by kennel cough. My neighboors new dog just got it so I decided I should educate myself about it. I know a lot about the other diseases and viruses such as parvo and kennel cough(bordetella) but not about distemper, besides that there is a shot for it that can make your dog immune.

I got a puppy from the pound a week ago. 2 days after having him, he seemed very lethargic, so I took him to the vet and he was diagnosed with Parvo. He’s gotten over the parvo, but the entire time he’s been sick with the parvo, he’s had a bad respitory virus. The vet thinks it may be a case of kennel cough that’s gotten severe due to his weakened immune system because of the parvo….but he thinks, also, he might have distemper since that is one of its first sign. Does anybody have any experience with this disease???

I’m looking for some pet insurance that will cover things like kennel cough. I have 3 dogs and 2 have been exposed to it once already and may be exposed to it again because we adopted another puppy from the shelter. We already lost one puppy from it so we are looking for some insurance we can afford.

My 2 year old boxer will be attending obedience classes with 20 other dogs and I wondered if this would be a good idea. He is up to date with all other shots, worming, flea treatments etc, I am just concerned about Kennel cough, or would you suggest anything else?

My dog is current on all her shots except a kennel cough shot. My dad died a few hours ago and I have to fly out of state to be with my brother and I can’t take her. If I take her tomorrow to get the shot will they let me board her tomorrow or will I have to wait?

I recently adopted a 2 month old kitten, Juliet from the local humane society. I was supposed to pick her up 24hours after the adoption was finalized, but then they called and said that she was sick with the kennel cough. How long will it take for her to get over her cough? Will it still be contagious to my two dogs(5), my cat(17) and my rabbit(2) at home?

He’s 3 months old, he only coughs when he’s playing tug-of-war or occasionally when he’s running. But not really. If it isn’t kennel cough what’s the reason and if I can, how can I treat it?

my dog (her name is tegan) is five months old and vaccinated fully according to her age. i recently rescued another dog (his name is gravy) from an animal shelter who brought kennel cough home with him. i am planning on going to this event called dogtoberfest on saturday the 21st at our awesome dog park. i really, really want to take (tegan) with me but i don’t want to be a jerk and infect any other dogs if she is still contagious. she will start her antibiotics tonight so she will have had a total of six doses before the event. thanks a lot for your help!

Hi everyone.
I just adopted a new cat from the humane society about two weeks ago. About a week after I got him, my dog started coughing and sneezing really bad..I took him to the vet and found out he has a minor case of kennel cough. Now just today my OTHER cat that I’ve had for 6 years is coughing and sneezing just like my dog. Is this a coincidence or is it possible my cat caught kennel cough from my dog?
Thanks!

My dog had the Bordetella Vaccine but was exposed to a dog that has kennel cough the next day. I’ve searched online and everything I’ve read says that to just let the disease run it’s course and the dog will be over it in 2 weeks. The vet assistant said that kennel cough doesn’t go away by itself. She said they would have to put my dog on two different antibiotics, one for inflammation and I can’t remember the other. I heard antibiotics are bad for the dogs immune system though. I tried to find a suppressant for kennel cough locally but didn’t have any luck.
