I am adopting a 10 month old pup, this Friday, and because of a few things, I question whether or not he has kennel cough. He coughed a few times when we were there with him, but he may have been pulling too hard on the leash. If he does have it, how do I know? Do I automatically keep the dogs separate?(even though they have already had contact with one another?) Is kennel cough expensive to treat?

My puppy has Kennel Cough, Canine Bordetellosis, and it’s just going to have to run it’s course, but it’s making her very uncomfortable. To ease her coughing I am thinking of giving her some children’s cough medicine. Is this ok?
My vet said it was fine.

Somone just told me that I have to get my puppy new toys and bedding once he is cured of kennel cough to help him avoid contracting it again. Is this true?

My 13 yr old toy poodle has been coughing since December 5th. I took her to the vet and they have given her two rounds of antibiotics and some pills to help relax her trachea. She just finished up round two this morning and is still coughing. I’m afraid it may not be kennel cough and may be something else? Has anyone had a dog with kennel cough and how long does it stick around?

My two foster dogs brought kennel cough home from a pet adoption day a few weeks ago. My other dog had it about a year ago. Can that dog get it again from the fosters?

Before I get started I want to say, I’m not a bad pet parent by asking this question. My vet "MATCHES" prices and since I am on a budget I can’t afford just buying the meds from my vet. I’m thankful that they do this. My Shih Tzu uses Advantix and I hope to find a 4- 6 month supply. They also said I need Guaifensen/Dextromethrpn 10mg, but I am not having any luck finding this at all. I’ve been putting my pup in doggy daycare 2-3 times a week and he’s developed what they think is Kennel cough…I feel horrible and I thought I was doing a good thing to have him socialized with other smalls dogs like him.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

and he just had his first rabies shot. I still don’t understand how in the world he get kennel cough to begin with. I have him on the wellness plan at Banfield so he gets his shots regularly.

I have four dogs. Two of them have kennel cough. My other two seem fine right now. One of them is a very small chihuahua and I have heard that toy breeds often can get gravely ill from minor infections.

Aside from keeping them away from her, is there anything else I can do to protect my little one?

Also, my vet tech told me antibiotics are usually not necessary for Kennel cough, but to watch out for seconday infection. Is this right?

Just brought home a new little munchkin and we are pretty sure she has kennel cough. Bringing her to the vet tonight. Right now we are keeping her separated from the cat until she has been to the vet, but is it possible for a cat to catch kennel cough from a dog?

My dog was excited at the vets–lots of adrenaline pumping. He got a kennel cough vaccine in his rear leg. When we got home we went for a walk and then I left him tied in the yard for ten minutes. When I came back to get him, he was curled into a ball shaking and he would not step on his leg. He is obviously not himself–he won’t even chase the cat.

my rotty cought kennel cough and passed it to my pitbull , now they both have it. should i seperate them and not let them get any contact with eachother at all untill this kennel cough is gone or can i let them play with eachother and they will be fine?

My puppy occasionally coughs even though he has already had kennel cough when we first brought him home at 10wks. His coughing gets worse at night. I thought maybe it was a cold because the weather has gotten much colder recently. Is that possible? He is a little papillion-pom mix.

My puppy just went to the vets on Thursday, he recieved his booster shots along with one for kennel cough and leptos. My vet is currently out of town now and offices are closed for the weekend. My question ? Do you think its okay to bring my puppy around other dogs i.e. relative homes who dogs are also vaccinated? Will he get sick or should i wait 2 weeks until his next canine contact? It slipped my mind to ask my vet although she didnt mention anything either.. i’m just concerned.

My neighbors’ dog has kennel cough and both my dogs were playing with her last night. Ruby (my neighbors’ puppy) started coughing this morning, and he knew something wasn’t right so he took her to the vet. I was just wondering how long should I keep an eye out for my dogs to develop symptoms.
