He has a bald spot on his head, and the vet says its a possibality that it may be ringworm.
We just got him 2 weeks ago and he started to grow a bald spot on his head. The vet said that our small dog might like him too much and lick his head a lot and watch out for that. it has been 2 days and I can see little hairs starting to grow back. The vet also said that if he DOES have a ringworm then we will see more spots on him. The vet concluded it all with a " Give it a week and if his hair grows back, he’s ok. but if it gets worse, with more spots, etc, take him back and we will test him." He is not acting different, always playful. I looked up a piture of a at with ringworm on googe and I saw a cat who also had a bald spot, but it was orange looking. My kitten, Oscar, just has a regular bald spot and there is no orange, just a little "boo-boo" from our 3 year old dog who may have been playing too rough. PLEASE tell me what my kitten may, or may not have.

The kitten comes from a group of cats that are not rabid. I can actually quarantine the kitten. It doesnt seem to be behaving abnormally. I am thinking if i should get rabies shot just for precaution.

Ok, I got my 4/5 month old kitten spayed today at a low cost spay clinic run by a local pet rescue place and local vets. I just checked on her after being in her room for 4 hours. And I saw a little bit of what looks like blood near the incision. What should I do? All the other pets I’ve had have been fixed before I got them.

Will my cat miss me? I really hope not.?

I’ve had my cat since he was 4 weeks old. Too early I know, but he was my boyfriend’s parents’ kitten and they simply could not keep him.

Consequently, my boyfriend and I are deeply attached to him and him to us.

Baby and I when he was only a month old:

Now my boyfriend and I are moving from the UK to do a course which will eventually lead to a medical degree, and the total cost of bringing our little one with us is just too extravagant. £300 for the vaccinations and the pet passport and perhaps more. Then the charge for the extra baggage on the airline. Then, after five years and we’re ready to go back to the UK, our little one needs to be quarantined for six months (EU guidelines), which will cost about £5,000. In short – bringing him is not an option.

My boyfriend and I have cried together over this, and we are both finding it really hard.

He was a little ball of fluff and now he’s 4 1/2 kg!

My question is…

Will he miss us? Will he wait for us to come home when we give him to his new owners?

I really, really, really hope not as that will just break my heart.

My boyfriend and I recently had to sleep over my auntie’s house and we brought our cat with us and my auntie woke me up in the middle of the night saying the cat won’t stop crying. I went down to stroke him and he went to sleep.

So you see why I am so worried.

In a way, a human is a lot easier to leave behind as the human knows what is going on. For all our cat knows, we were just going to work and were going to be back in the evening as usual.

I really can’t bear the thought that he’d look for us.

Essentially, I want somebody to assure me that cats only remember who feeds them and are users and have nowhere near the emotional capacity as dogs do.

Sigh.

How to care for kitten after neuter surgery?

I’m picking up my kitten from the vet in a couple of hours. He just had his first shots and check-up along with his neuter surgery. How should I care for him after? Do I need to do anything special for him? How whill he be acting?

We have a 20 month and a 5 month old cat living together, so we need to watch when they’re eating their wet food together, because the the kitten will try and eat the adults food, which we stop.

I’m mainly asking because a friend who also has had cats for years, from kittens, has only ever fed them adult food and they’ve grown up fine.

I have recently taken in a kitten that I found. She was skin and bones and infested with fleas and worms. I have put over 0 and about 3weeks into getting rid of the parasites. I have a vet appt scheduled to get the feline AIDS/leukemia test done, but in the mean time I was just wondering if there are any signs or symptoms of either. I have gotten pretty attached to her and I just want to be kind of prepared in case the test comes back positive. Thanks for any help/info!

Do pets really need shots and checkup?

I know this may sound kinda dumb to all you vet obsessed pet owners. But I don’t believe in paying more for a cat than I would for my own health bill…I only go to the doctor when I have some serious problem and I’ve never had any really. I didnt even have health insurance for about 12 years. Anyway, the cats i’ve had in past were bought at pet stores and never brought to the vet through the years and were perfectly fine. I have a new born kitten, do I really need to bring it to the vet? Or is it possible for it to be fine without anything?

I have found a 6year old cat at a rescue centre,, I fell in love with her straight away.
(I work there for work experience) =D

My mum is worried about the insurance expense for an older cat, so she’d prefer a younger or kitten. Our previous cat died at 14years old and we paid alot of money for her.

So I asking; is the insurance for older cats still as good as the insurance for the kittens/younger ??
Older cats are they still as healthy as younger ones?

Pet insurance for new kitten?

Hi,

I am a new kitten mommy who just adopted a 9 week old kitten, Baxter. I just finished college so I am always looking for ways to save money. I have heard about pet insurance to cover vet bills and was wondering what any of you knew about it and what were the best types of programs/plans. Is it worth getting or not? I think it might be a good idea in case he ever gets really sick or needs a surgery. Any opinions? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Got my kitten spayed Friday. She is 6 months old–our vet won’t spay any earlier. How long does it take to recover? The vet kept her overnight. I picked her up the next morning.
She slept all day when I picked her up Saturday, and is still laying around. She seems to be eating and drinking ok. Not as much her usual though. She seems to be kind of upset and not wanting to be very social and basically hiding from us. She only comes out to eat. How long will it be before she is back to her usual sunny self?

i know it sounds sleazy. but this the worst thing i ever have done.

we live in a complex and there is a pet limit. we already have 2 cats. but rescued these adorable kittens. they were 3 weeks old. in bad shape. so the plan was to rescue them and find a good home.

and somewhere between bottle feedings, and nursing them back to health. we fell in love with them.

i am sure you understand.

now all the apartments in the complex where we live are being inspected next week.

we don’t know what day or time. just that they will hit our building one day next week.

i have TRIED to adopt them out. we had a home . but at the last minute yesterday, the guy hesitated. and now is not sure because his girlfriend changed he remind and does not want them. she wants an all white kitten. which only made me want to keep them.

if the complex mangers see 4 cats we will be evicted.

and as stupid as it sounds, i really am STILL trying to hide them some way.
?????????

ANY THOUGHTS??

New pet: Hamster or Cat?

Hey all,

I am looking to get a new pet, but I am kind of not sure between the cat and the Hamster. I know there are many breeds out there (and I absolutely know none :P ) but I don’t mind getting any breed of kitten or hamster.

so I am kind of wondering what should I get? a hamster or a kitten?
like what are the costs ( vaccination and all the other stuff that there is)
cats cost more but the size is also much bigger than just a hamster.

also I am a full time student, so i’ll be out averagely like 7~8 hours.

I have read so many articles that say animals are contagious with ringworm for 3 weeks and some say months after starting treatment… So I had my kitten shaved and she has been dipped in lime sulfur dip 3 times. She has also been bathed with a ketoconazole shampoo recently. It has been about three weeks since she was diagnosed and received the first dip. I need a kitty sitter for the weekend and want to make sure she will be okay around other cats!

My 6-month old kitten is very playful and active. He runs around everywhere and loves to play with me and people in general. If I get him neutered, will he change? Is he going to become lazy and inactive?
