I want to know if what are the obvious feline leukemia symptoms. We have 3 kittens at home and I want to take care of them properly.
I want to spay my cat but shes nursing right now and her kittens are 3 weeks old and if i spay her im afraid her milk wont come out. will she have troubles?? Please help!
My kitten is just over 14 weeks old and is starting to get very curious about going outside. She has had all the necessary injections but hasn’t been neutered yet. Is it best to keep her in until she is neutered and if so at what age can that be done?
Also, how old are kittens usually when they first come into season? Just wondering whether I have that to look forward to before she can be neutered as well.
My old roommate’s cat had a littler of kittens and i am very interested in adopting one (ive had many cats before so i know how to take care of them)
however, ive never had to pay for kittens vet bills.
How much do theyre first vet bills cost for check up and getting spayed and stufF?
thanks
i was walking around in the mall and there was this pet store with … 4 cats… in their display, their youngest was 5 months old ..WTF. No one was buying them cause most ppl want kittens, not cats. Couldnt help but try to help those cats out , so I bought one.. couldnt afford more :s
i’M home right now with this sweet little cat and its quite late and there are no vet offices open at this hour… plus i dont have a car so :s aka screwed.
They showed some documentation and it says that he’s been de-warmed and had 2 vaccinations already… at this day and age, I’m hoping the docs weren’t falsified -.-
They cat is fairly friendly, but more scared to try things than a 12 week old kitten, his back legs seem slightly weak, when he accidentally stepped into a puddle of water in my bathroom, as he was walking away there were imprints of freaking SOAP bubbles oh WTF
He’s kind of got used to my bed and since he’s been in a small confined space for 5 months already I dont want to put him in a crate. Is it safe if the cat sleeps in my bed??? Does he possess any danger to infants (hygienically speaking and what not)? :s
(im taking him to the vet first thing in the morning)
We just recently acquired two kittens, they are currently 7 weeks old. We already have a 4 year old cat. With all these animals we know that the vet bills are going to be stacking up. Is there a decent pet insurance that covers routine checkups? I’ve done some research but everything I find is for accidents or have an outrageous deductible
I have a friend whos cat had kittens they are about 8 weeks now and she is giving me one i have had cats before but i was a kid and it wasn’t my responsibilty to make sure they were healthy but now i am an adult and i jus want whats best for my new pet can anyone help me and maybe give me a website where i can find out about other things she may need done like vaccination.
thanks
I looked on 800 pet meds and it didn’t matter whether you clicked on cat or dog, it listed the dosage for both. I have two kittens and a chiuaua. So buying one would save money (which I really need to do) and still treat both. The only difference I noticed was the mg, one is 23mg and the other is 34mg. I really hope some one can help.
I put her in a separate room with her own litter box. My cats are HIV or whatever feline leukemia negative and I don’t want them to be contaminated by that cat that I don’t know.
I will schedule an appointment at the vet tomorrow for a check up/blood test/ spaying (maybe I will contact a rescue group also)
If my cats are separated, there is no risk of contamination? Will I have to super deep clean the room once the cat is adopted and if she tests positive for feline Hiv? ( I am ok to foster her)
basically tell me what to do to make sure my cats don’t get sick if the cat I brought in is sick. Because my guess is that I won’t have the results of tests before Tuesday.
they are separated now. but the cats can smell each other through the door and under the door.
Also that cat is coughing.
I wash my hands and change shirt after handling her.
Serious answers only!!!!
Thank you in advance for your answers
I found her while walking… the woman who "fed" her told me she had kittens 3 months ago, and she gave the kittens to people… can the cat be pregnant already? she does not look pregnant.
the woman could not afford the spaying and the vet bills for the mommy cat, that’s why I brought her in my house. but again that woman and I don’t know anything about that cat (diseases or else)
My cats are indoors only and my vet told me they only need that 4 in 1 vaccine + rabies (mandatory)
Thank you all, You have been very informative.
Besides the cough, she is clean, clean ears, no fleas at all (the woman put some advantage after she gave her kittens away).
I can’t wait to see the vet on Monday though.
She had kittens a while ago(not sure how long) but they are old enough to eat dry cat food and run around. How long do I need to wait before I have her spayed(not sure how to spell it)so she doesnt get pregnant again?
We have a 20 month and a 5 month old cat living together, so we need to watch when they’re eating their wet food together, because the the kitten will try and eat the adults food, which we stop.
I’m mainly asking because a friend who also has had cats for years, from kittens, has only ever fed them adult food and they’ve grown up fine.
40% of dogs and cats euthanized in shelters every year are PURE BREDS. This is why I do not understand why there are NOT strict laws and regulations regarding breeding. There should only be a certain amount of breeders per state per breed. These people and their facilites should be properly investigated and licenced before becoming one of the "chosen ones"(per-se). And anyone who is found breeding without a licence should be penalized. The homeless pet population is unacceptable and people who encourage breeders by "buying" their animals, are just contributing to the death of inoccent ones in shelters/rescues. A perfectly healthy, lovable, young dog is being murdered as we speak just because he couldn’t find a home and breeders think it is ok to bring more and more animals into this world. What can you do to help the homeless/euthanized animal population?
To make a clarification I also helped in a shelter not for very long because I was a basket case everday. In just a few months I saw MANY pure breds murdered. Also, in reponse to the remark that dogs are being sent to other states because there is a shortage, that is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard…I think you may need to get your facts straight.
Some people are not understanding what I am saying… THERE ARE TOO MANY BREEDERS(including "legitimate breeders")! There NEEDS to be a certain number of licenced breeders per state/ per A PARTICULAR BREED and the people who "buy" these puppies/kittens should be mandated to sterlize them. Also, a mutt can not help if it is a mutt they are just as cute and lovable as any pure bred and most the time are in better health. I would also like to know what these breeder enthusiasts think about particular breed rescues. Don’t even try to tell me that breeding is just fine with these "breed specific" rescues are busting at the seams. The breeder supporters support it simply because they can "buy" a certain animal when and where they want to (instant gratification) instead of finding a truly needy pet that is waiting on death row at a shelter.
The stray cat I am looking after and intend to get spayed looks pregnant but I am not sure. Her stomach looks a little swollen but again I am not sure. I can clearly see her nipples. But she has 3-month old kittens and until about 6 weeks before she was lactating. She has been leaving her kittens regularly, so I thought if she is still trying to mate, she may not be pregnant yet.
If she is pregnant, how risky is it to get her spayed? I do not want to take the risk of putting her through the surgery if it may lead to serious/fatal complications.
My question is this: I’m trying to save some money. (since it is pretty limited) I also have one cat and two kittens, all of which have tapeworms and fleas.
Should I go to a Petco or something and just buy some Advantage and worming pills? Or should I just take them to a vet and have it all taken care of there? What would be the better thing to do?
(Note: my felines have yet to be vaccinated)
I am planning on adopting a kitten from a shelter, for around 70 dollars with shots and spay/neuter.
However, i recently found a woman who was giving away kittens for free, however they are really little, so by the time i get them, they will be on wet food and i will have to find a vet to give shots and neuter her/him.
What to do?
