I have found a 6year old cat at a rescue centre,, I fell in love with her straight away.
(I work there for work experience) =D

My mum is worried about the insurance expense for an older cat, so she’d prefer a younger or kitten. Our previous cat died at 14years old and we paid alot of money for her.

So I asking; is the insurance for older cats still as good as the insurance for the kittens/younger ??
Older cats are they still as healthy as younger ones?

I have adopted a stray and she lives outside. She’s been around for about 2 years and she has not had kittens yet. But there is a high possibility that she is in heat. Although when other cats (mostly males) come she hisses at them and they run away. Does this mean she’s been spayed?

What happens when a pregnant cat is spayed?

I found a stray cat that is 6-7 weeks pregnant. I know you can get a pregnant cat spayed but I wondering exactly how they dispose of the live kittens. Do they euthanize them with an injection or what? I really don’t want her to have the kittens since it will be very hard to find them good homes but I have an issue with having live kittens killed or have them suffer in anyway.

I once adopted two kittens who were 15 weeks old and already fixed, shots and eating adult cat food. I now have a 4 month old kitten who is still eating kitten chow and kitten canned food. He acts like he’s starving. When can I introduce him to adult cat chow, canned wet food and cat treats? I DON’T WANT to feed him any "people" food!!
Thanks
My cats are indoor only.

Do you Feed your Pets a Raw Food Diet?

I Feed my Cats & Dogs a Raw Food Diet. Their Main Meat is Chicken. All their Food is bought from my Boyfriend’s Farm. However I weaned them straight onto Raw Food as Puppies & Kittens. My Neighbor wants to start Feeding His Dogs on a Raw Food Diet, but his Dogs are 12 & 10. They are Chihuahuas. Just wondering if that is too Old.

My Chihuahuas Eat Fine but as I said that is all they have ever Eaten. So, when he Asked me I told him I wasn’t sure. His have been raised on Kibble & Table Scraps which I despise. Anyway, He wanted me to Ask, so I am. He also wanted to get a Few Examples of what Other People usually Feed as a Guideline. He knows mine, but wants more. So if you wouldn’t mind. Thanks in Advance. ^_^

I keep reading about different kinds of cat foods you should feed a pregnant cat. My cat is an outdoor cat and is due to deliver kittens in a while. What type of food do you recommend?

I’m considering buying an exotic shorthair kitten, but I’m not sure how breeders feel about selling their expensive kittens to a sophomore in college who lives in a studio apartment.
I have the money to reasonably take good care of this potential kitten, and she or he would be very well loved, but I’m not sure what I’ll be up against with breeders.
Especially helpful would be the thoughts of actual cat breeders.

Vaccinating indoor cats…your opinion?

I have two neutered male cats who are 7 and 8 years old. I’ve had them since they were kittens and they have always been indoor cats.
They never go outside and never have contact with animals who do go outside. The last few years I have not taken them in for their vaccinations. I weigh them and keep track of their health at home. Of course I would take them straight in to a vet if they were ill. But, for the most part I feel like vaccinations are a waste.
This has nothing to do with not having enough money, time, or not being a responsible pet owner, etc. I love my cats and I would hate for them to have any type of illness.
I just think the risk that comes with vaccinations outweighs the chance of them contracting anything.
I know some diseases can be contracted without a cat having to go outdoors. What are they? What vaccinations are absolutely necessary for a strictly indoor cat?
I’d like to make an informed decision regarding this so any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

I really like to plan ahead-this won’t be for at least a couple years, but I plan on getting two kittens when we live in a bigger place. I want to get the healthiest, longest lived ones possible with the lowest risk of FIP (I also have two healthy 16 year old god-knows-what cats) and all research points to old-style (i.e. applehead) lynx point siamese. From what I understand the old style are much healthier than wedge-heads and lynx points are even better because they also have mongrel-cat blood. They also have a pretty low risk of FIP. Please tell me about your experiance, and feel free to reccomend breeders. I am really into pet health-I do all organic and grain-free whenever possible and may consider raw for the new kitties, but my older ones can’t handle it (I tried) I also keep cats inside and go vaccine-free for all my indoor pets after initial baby shots. I won’t declaw (my current ones are spayed/declawed but I was three and didn’t get a vote) I also own an intact female 8 lb chihuahua/pomeranian mix and a spayed 7 year old ferret. I don’t believe in spaying unless specifically medically indicated because they hurt my Tigger’s throat when she was spayed and I’ve done research indicating the risks of spaying are greater than going intact, providing you’re responsible enough to prevent pregnancy. Sorry to make this so long, but just being specific in case there are special vaccine considerations or dietary specifications with Siamese, or in case Siamese should be spayed for some reason. Thanks
they will both be female and our reasons for wanting them are that we have seen how good kittens can be for older cats, and our puppy seems to need a friend too, but Tigger and Tabitha aren’t interested and we can’t really handle more than one dog. She loves cats though. Of course we have more than enough love to go around as well

Hi everyone….pls help, I’m going stir crazy!

In March of this year, I got two new kittens. A pedigree Ragdoll, and a ‘sister’ for him, a little rescue tabby.
Having homed strays and adopted rescue cats before, I felt I was doing my bit by homing her (as opposed to getting a 2nd pedigree), and giving her a ‘second chance’.

I KNOW it’s only been two months..but the little girl is breaking my heart…I just CANNOT bond with her. Her history was that she was previously homed (adopted as a tiny kitten, then returned, apparently because owners couldn’t cope with her/realised they didn’t want a cat, etc…) I then came in, and got her at 6months of age…..

Having done everything I can, eg. using Feliway products, following behavioural advice on the Feline Advisory Bureau website etc…..I just cannot help feeling let down and cheated by this little mog.

How long is a fair time to allow her to come out of her shell? 6 months, a year? Because it honestly is like I don’t have a 2nd cat.

She only eats, plays with her brother ( way out of arms reach of us) and uses her tray. No interaction with us whatsoever. And when we can approach her, she scurries away under the bed, or cowers in fear… If we do manage to hold her…God, the panic to escape!!! Is this why she was returned? I think she either had zero human interaction in her early days, or she was hit….badly, and often. On an hourly basis, I try remind myself of this, and sympathise with her….but also, just looking at her, fills me with resentment, and I want to give her back…….

I know rescue cats often do come round, but if I’m very honest, I don’t know if I have the energy, patience and time, that I once did. My little Ragdoll brings me such incredible joy, and I question whether or not I should sacrifice MY sanity &happiness to accomodate a cat with evident mental health issues. I know this sounds harsh, and I apologise…but it’s honestly how I feel. Thinking about it brings me to tears… :)

All I’ve ever wanted was two, really chilled, happy babies that would love their momma….and we’d all be content. I thought I could have that by getting them as kittens (I previously had adopted an 11yr old rescue mog…who had a horrific past…and he came round quicker than my little girl is now!!)

I really don’t know what to do, and would appreciate your thoughts. No snide comments either please…as this, as I’ve said, is causing me some anguish… Thanks so much ;)

is it a smart move to get pet health insurance?

I just adopted two kittens, but both are rescues. I want to know if pet health insurance is a good choice. Does anyone know anything about this? And also, what would be the best place to get it?

What does pet insurance do in relation to the vet?
Does it make going to the vet cheaper or what?
Is pet insurance a monthly payment?
How much is a trip to the vet?
Do you have pet insurance? How much do you pay?

I will be adopting two kittens soon.

Just wondering if anyone can tell me what diseases a cat and a dog can pass to one another. I have 2 small rescue litters of kittens that are being isolated from each other and from my other animals. The babies were vet checked today and physically appear healthy but are way too young to be tested for Feline leukemia and those type of diseases. There will definitely not be any cat to cat contact but what can they share with the dog? I didn’t even think to ask the vet directly. Of course, safety is a big issue but the dog can hardly contain himself to take a peek.
