It gets expensive to have to buy two different cat foods and I wanted to know if there was one food out there that would cover both issues.

Hi I live in the UK and am thinking about getting two pet ferrets. Ive had a look online about getting pet ferrets and they look so cure and adorable and look like they require responsibility which i am fine with i Just want to ask because i am thinking about clearing out the shed so that they can live in there, i was wondering if this would be okay as my mum doesn’t want them in the house and then getting a play pen so i can put them in the garden or the conservatory to play with them every day. erm, but mainly i want to ask what foods can they eat? how often do they need to eb brushed? bathed? what do i need to use for there house so that i can change it every week to be cleaned? what should i sue for the ferret litter box? how much do vaccinations cost? and common ferret illnesses? there is a website i found called exotic pets which do ferret insurance would it be cheaper to take out insurance? how often should i clean there ears? do i need to clean their teeth and if so how often? how often do i clip their claws? what is the best way to teach them to stop biting? is it true you can teach them tricks? also my mum si completely against the idea of having pet ferrets she thinks therir rodents which is why she woudlnt allow me to ahve them in the house does anyone know a good video i can show her to help change her mind? ot think of a way to explain to ehr that they are the most adorable fun loving pets ever?

My 6 month old kitten returned from his neuter about 2 days ago and he’s adjusted to e-collar well enough (although i REALLY want to take it off….) He’s already had an accident in the litter box, bumping into furniture, etc….
His incision was surgically glued and so far, no infections.
Typically, how long is the recovery period for a neutered young cat?

Ok so I’m going to be driving practically coast to coast just me, my dog and my cat. I have a German sheppard pointer mix 2yrs old and only about 30lbs so I plan to have her in the front seat next to me. She doesn’t need room to spread out cause she curls in a ball when she sleeps. Then I plan to have my cat in her carrier with the door open and a litter box on the floor in the backseat.
I know I will have to make a stop every few hours for a potty break, let them stretch their legs for a few minutes and get a drink. Neither one gets car sick, but they’ve never been in the car for 3 days. I have hotels planned out that are pet friendly along the way. I plan to get their health certificates this week and each are up to date on shots.

Any tips or advice from your past experiences would be great!

I put her in a separate room with her own litter box. My cats are HIV or whatever feline leukemia negative and I don’t want them to be contaminated by that cat that I don’t know.

I will schedule an appointment at the vet tomorrow for a check up/blood test/ spaying (maybe I will contact a rescue group also)

If my cats are separated, there is no risk of contamination? Will I have to super deep clean the room once the cat is adopted and if she tests positive for feline Hiv? ( I am ok to foster her)

basically tell me what to do to make sure my cats don’t get sick if the cat I brought in is sick. Because my guess is that I won’t have the results of tests before Tuesday.

they are separated now. but the cats can smell each other through the door and under the door.
Also that cat is coughing.

I wash my hands and change shirt after handling her.

Serious answers only!!!!
Thank you in advance for your answers
I found her while walking… the woman who "fed" her told me she had kittens 3 months ago, and she gave the kittens to people… can the cat be pregnant already? she does not look pregnant.

the woman could not afford the spaying and the vet bills for the mommy cat, that’s why I brought her in my house. but again that woman and I don’t know anything about that cat (diseases or else)
My cats are indoors only and my vet told me they only need that 4 in 1 vaccine + rabies (mandatory)
Thank you all, You have been very informative.
Besides the cough, she is clean, clean ears, no fleas at all (the woman put some advantage after she gave her kittens away).
I can’t wait to see the vet on Monday though.

Hi-At the bottom I have written my question about the urinary health of our cat I wanted to give some background knowledge about him.

Our orange tabby (4 years old) had a urethral obstruction and UTI about 2 months ago. He got unblocked right away and was on antibiotics and since then he has been good. But, he still is:

*peeing in smaller amounts (he empties his bladder but his pee clumps are not as big as our other cat’s. His clumps are like if you put two of your thumbs together-maybe less, whereas hers is 3x as big.
*once a week he has tried to pee outside the box. But then he goes to the box and he pees.
*his frequency of box usage is less with slightly larger clumps than the week before but he still goes maybe 5-7 times a day (he’s on the urinary diet with added water) He just can’t pee it all out in one sitting.

So one may thing he’s still not well but we’ve taken him to the vet 3 times the last month and these are the results:

*ultra sound of bladder-no stones no build up of grit, no damage. Strong bladder lining.
* Clear urine, PH levels totally normal, Alkaline levels normal, clear urine (vet says it’s one of the best she’s seen)
* Okay stream when bladder is expressed, sometimes some drips, sometimes a good stream.
* He’s still playful, runs around, plays with his stick, and gets excited.

We love our cats and will always continue to give them the best and keep them healthy regardless of $. We do have pet insurance so that’s good.

So my two part question is:

1.) Is there anything else I can do to get him to allow him to pee more in each litter box trip.
2.) How long does it take to fully recover from his illness?

THANKS SO MUCH

-Loving Cat Owner
Thanks for the help so far-to answer some q’s:

the blockage was removed by cathetar (took 20 minutes)
The vet mentioned he may have idiopathic cystics (that was when he first went in 2 months ago)

I’m thinking about getting a house bunny. I’ve never had one and I’m just looking for any/all advice and info anyone has. The good and the bad! I purchased a book, but it really doesn’t tell you ‘the bad.’ Just basic care, diet, housing, health, behavior etc. There’s one being fostered by a local humane society volunteer and he sounds very good. Great litter box habits, no random droppings, has the run of the house when people are home. We have an older cat (much older – 19) who I think will be uninterested for the most part so that is not a concern. Our dog just passed, and we can’t get another due to work schedules – so there won’t be a dog anywhere in the future. I would like some general input from people who have (or have had) a rabbit. Plus here’s some specific questions about how much does it cost to get a male bunny fixed? Does he really need to be fixed if he’s not showing any territorial behavior and I don’t plan on getting another bunny? Are bunnies interactive pets? Would you say they’re more dog like, cat like or somewhere in between – or does it just depend on the individual? Overall, would you recommend a rabbit as a pet? Could you get to a point where a bunny could have the run of the house all of the time?

My cat’s getting old now so we’ve decided to look into cat insurance for her. She’s about 13 years old.. have had many problems in the past. A cat bit her, urinary infection, skin infection, etc. She’s been acting kind of weird lately, always sleeping.. Not like her usual sleeping time. She doesn’t walk around much, she used to come upstairs and sleep next to me at night but now she doesn’t even go up the stairs. We got her new cat food since she stopped eating the last one apparently her teeth’s getting old. She has also been peeing around her litter box a lot. So anyways, are there any cat insurance you guys recommend? Hopefully not too expensive. Thanks
