I’m thinking of a career in veterinary medicine, but I am still deciding if I would be good at it. I didn’t really think of becoming a Veterinarian until now, so my high school biology grades are not very good and I figured I could just work harder in undergraduate school. I wanted to take AP Biology my senior year but the class is now full which is really unfortunate. I’m mostly worried that I wouldn’t get into Veterniary School for graduate school. What happens if I do pre-veterinary medicine as a major and I don’t get into graduate school!? Do you think I would be okay at this subject, based basically on what I said before?
Also, what is the difference between being a Vet Technician and an actual Vet?
Oh, and I am not very strong at mathematics, but I figured I could get better in college?

My dog got lyme disease when we were up in the delaware water gap. We brought her to the vet and they gave us antibiotics. It has been about a week, and every other day ahe can barely walk. I can’t bring her on hikes anymore, and I’m really worried. She is taking the medicine for another 5 weeks. Do I just need to wate it out. She is an 8 year old labrador.

I have a five month old puppy that despite being vaccinated showed some signs of kennel cough. When I took him to the vet he was prescribed sulfadi/ormetop, but he has been on it a week and his cough has gotten worse. I couldn’t find anything on what type of medicine it was so I thought I’d ask.

My sister has a black lab puppy and he is 4 months old and weighs 30 pounds! The place where she got him from said that they have been giving him heartworm medicine, so they gave me a month’s supply. But I think he is too young to be taking it now? How old should they be? The place where she got him makes me nervous, they had him fixed at 2 months and I am studying to be a vet tech and I know that was way too young..they are supposed to be at the least 6 months! Help!!

My Staffy/Pom mix came down with Kennel Cough yesterday, the vet gave her some medicine and expects her to be better withing 3 days. It’s a very minor case because she was vaccinated against it and she seems fine apart from the coughing.
She’s never been a passionate eater but she still eats a fair bit, today however although she was very active ate very little. Is this just part of her Kennel Cough or should I be worried?

Please don’t jump down my throat…
The Revolution I use on my dogs is made to also prevent heartworm, but I see a lot of people saying they use products similar to revolution PLUS a heartworm medicine (like Heartguard.) Even my mother does this with her dogs.
My vet never mentioned anything about additional heartworm preventitive, so I assumed Revolution has them covered. Is this correct or do I need to call the vet and see about getting additional protection for the dogs?

My dog barfs after taking his monthly dose of heartworm medicine. It’s like clockwork! My dog is mostly an indoor dog, does not go to kennels, and only is outside when we walk him or if he goes in the backyard for short periods of time.

How much does a veterinarian get paid? I am thinking about becoming a veterinarian and i don’t know what their salary is. I was thinking of becoming either an equine veterinarian or just a regular(dog, cat) veterinarian.
And i whant to go into veterianry medicine becase of my love for animals not because of what the get paid.
I live in california and will work here too.

I would like to seek the advice of a specialist veterinarian (internal medicine) to supplement my cat’s existing care. Where can I find such a professional who can consult online (paid)? Genuinely helpful answers only please.

She is a rat terrier and we’ve had her for over 3 years since she was a puppy. She just suddenly had kennel cough but she wont eat anything, not even the medicine.
If I try to put the medicine in her mouth she refuses and tries to bite me, she usually isn’t aggressive at all.

We have a dog, she’s been heartworm tested and on the preventative medicine Heartguard since she was a really young puppy. Recently she had a litter of two and I was wondering whether we should take the pups to be tested even though they have never been outside (3 weeks old now) or just start them on the appropriate dose of medicine at 8 weeks old?
I know I should call my vet to ask, and I intend to - but it’s been bugging me all weekend and I keep forgetting to call during office hours.

My 4 month old Schnoodle mut puppy has kennel cough. The vet gave him medicine yesterday that my mother said will treat pneumonia, if the cough does indeed develope into it. Is this true?
There are probably a lot of details that are necessary to answer this question, but on average, does the medicine treat both?
