Why are so many people against breeders?

I have been breeding rabbit for 3 years now, and have raise 11 litters, i breed for show, breeding and pets. I do not do it for the money, since there is no money is breeding, and all my rabbits are well fed and cared for. I do sell the babies for money, and try to cover feed costs with the money i make on the babies i sell, but I’m not in this for the money, and most breeders aren’t either, alot of breeders breed for show. so i ask again why are so many people against breeders?
I breed for show, and i find homes for all my un wanted rabbits

They will not let you read the policy until you purchase the product. I would like to read the policy, can anyone let me see?
Yea, I just would like to know specifically what is covered, etc. They will not allow you to view the policy until you purchase it… so they say, for the fear of other insurance providers biting their style. The company has excellent reviews at www.petinsurancereviews.com, however that means nothing until you can read the policy. I personally chose Pets Best for my English Bulldog pup. Any opinions on Pets Best?
PS. I won’t put the money for the insurance into a seperate account and then pay out of it when vet bills come. This is because I love to shop! I’m best off purchasing a policy, thanks! :)

How do I convince my mom to let me lease a horse?

I found someone who’s willing to let me lease their horse in exchange for work an 100 dollars a month. It would be a half lease so I would be riding about 3 days a week. I can make all the money working in the cafeteria during lunch and my dad offered to pay for the insurance of the horse. How do I convince her to let me do it.
She hasn’t told me why she doesn’t want me to lease. At first she said it was too expensive but I’m going to be paying so I don’t get it.

I know its funny how I care about money when my dog’s life(?) is on the line…..but please do understand that I care about my dog : )

my 3yr old maltese is diagnosed with gastroenteritis and he was fine just few days ago..

1. I heard that there are cheap medicines for gastroenteritis that I can buy from vets, is that true?

2. How much will it cost to give my dog shots+medicines for gastroenteritis without one of those pet insurance?

Are we s’posed to automatically know what standards are or why they’re important? If you agree that we’re not born with that knowledge, then when’s the right time to ask? Is it when you have the interest or when you’re capable of getting the things you’d need, like a car to get to shows, but no desire left to learn because every question you’ve asked on the subject has been somehow worded wrong?
Teenagers do things in a very bullheaded manor. I’m to the point where I know this, know it’s bad, but I still do things at a very fast pace when it comes to learning things of interest. If I want to be a breeder ten years from now, should I wait till then to ask questions or go ahead and learn what I can? I dun even know if I’ll go that far because I don’t beleive in objectifying a living thing the way many show dogs are, and where upholding the standard is important, being a champion isn’t in my eyes. If temperment is good and standards are at least met, why need to be BOB?
People say breeding for money is bad, and breeding simply to show your kids the miracle of birth is, though a nice thought, not a good idea.
But no ones said anything about how a puppy can light up the eyes of most people of any age and just being with that puppy makes a person happy, and then as the dog grows, assuming it’s been raised right, that puppy can become a companion more than a pet or dog you show for the glory of it.
I dunno how to put it and not sound like I’m for BYB, but I’m not and I want to make that very clear. But really, when I think happiness one of the top things on my mind is the thought of puppies in play and making some kid/teen/adult/senior happy.
Is bringing the joy of a puppy into the lives of people that may "need" it a bad reason to breed?
And yes, I know puppies become dogs, which need training that can be an awesome learning experience for, maybe, a soon to be single teenage mother?
Yeah… joining a club is not going to happen for the breed I’m interested in. At least not a local one. I’m in Florida. Lake Butler. The three major cities I think of is lake Butler *the old people’s city* Lake City *the city run by irrisponsible/poor adults it seems* and the Gainesville *a college town. need i say more?*
I don’t have a car, nor would I have permission to drive all that far even if I did. I haven’t heard of anything even bordering on being related to a dog show.
Before you say "Jacksonville’s not far off" consider that *I* cannot get a trip into town, a 30min round trip, letalone a 2+hour trip to Jacksonville. My 12 year old sister can, but that’s because she hasn’t become a screwup like me yet *in other words, she doesn’t have the probs with depression that I do*
This is not the place to learn EVERYTHING, I agree, but it’s easier to read a comment saying "You too young therefore you’re an idiot for even thinking you will ever be capible of this" than to hear it from a breeder over the phone or in person. I’m nearing 18, but when nervouse my voice can sound like a 12year old’s, and the younger you sound the less respect you will earn from a breeder, normally. I gather that from my experience in an attempt to get a puppy from a breeder as a companion that’d prolly get spayed once I grasp the concept of "heat". Just the way that I’ve been treated over the phone…. I don’t like it, and I feel that if I go into it better prepared with more knowledge to start with I’ll not only get the diserved respect, but I’ll prove to them that you don’t gotta be fifty to have an idea what you’re talking about.
Isn’t the best time to ask questions BEFORE you do it? I haven’t bred the mutt I wanted to because I’ve been told of it’s evils, not because I can’t find a female dog. That one would be easy, I just found out my friend has two oops litters a year *from four females, so it’s not one dog allways pregnant or nursing* because they can’t afford to fix their dogs. I don’t want to hear about how horrible that is, i want to prove a point that if asking a question means that you will never know the answer, then why do we ask if we don’t understand how you get the square root of whatever? Asking questions is a huge part of the learning process, even if all that you learn is that there’s a lock of humanity in the world.
I’M GUESSING NOT A DAMNED ONE OF YOU HAS A REASING LEVEL ABOVE THAT OF MY THREE YEAR OLD SISTER. YOU SEE THE WORDS, KNOW HOW TO PRONOUNCE THEM, YET HAVE NO EFFING IDEA WHAT THEY COULD POSSIBLY MEAN. IF YOU CAN’T ASK QUESTIONS IN THE ONLY PLACE OFFERED FOR THE SUBJECT, WHERE ARE YOU SPOSED TO ASK? HAVE YOU SEEN BREEDERS LISTED IN THE PHONE BOOK? I WAS ONCE UNNAWARE THAT YOU COULD FIND THEM THROUGH THE ACK. SINCE WHEN WAS ASKING IF BREEDERS WERE BORN WITH THEIR KNOWLEDGE THE SAME AS SAYING "I KNOW EVERYTHING ALREADY" WHEN I’M HERE ASKING QUESTIONS.
FORGET TELLING PEOPLE THAT THEY SHOULD NOT OWN DOGS, YOU PEOPLE SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED THE RESPONSOBILITY OF TREATING A MOUSE IN A HUMANE WAY.
I NEVER SAID I KNEW IT ALL, QUITE THE CONTRARRY. I KNOW THAT I DON’T KNOW IF ALL DOGS ARE PREGERS FOR 9WKS ORIF IT VARIES BREED TO BREED.
TO THE ONE THAT SAID A CAR IS TRIVIAL. LET’S PUT YOU WHERE NOT EVEN YOUR NEIGHBOR IS IN WALKING DISTANCE AND SEE HOW TRIVIAL A CAR REALLY IS.

I looked on 800 pet meds and it didn’t matter whether you clicked on cat or dog, it listed the dosage for both. I have two kittens and a chiuaua. So buying one would save money (which I really need to do) and still treat both. The only difference I noticed was the mg, one is 23mg and the other is 34mg. I really hope some one can help.

How old should I get my female rabbit spayed?

She is just over a year old. My work isn’t paying enough to get her spayed yet and I’m worried. Are there any significant risks if I don’t get her spayed before a certain age? I heard the age of 2 is maximum before she is at higher risk of cancer but I am really struggling for money at the moment. She has no chance of coming into contact with a male rabbit.

Should I get insurance for my horse?

I am buying a horse, and I am not sure if I will be putting him/her into show. Its most likely a no, but I still stand undecided. I will have little children around the horse often, because I have young siblings, around the ages of 9 and 6. They are calm, and I am planning on buying a gelding, a calm and quiet one. I will be keeping my horse at a public stable. I need to know what the smartest thing to do is. I am not a rich person, but I have money. Should I get insurance for my horse?
also what would the prices be?

Hi, last night I fund out that one of my ferrets had a broken canine teeth from the upper jaw, and I am afraid it expose the pulp. However, a big concern of mine is money, but has any one had this problem before, if you did, how much did it cost you to fix it, or not?

What do you look for in pet insurance?

I’m looking for a new insurance for my dog, and I’d like some tips on what to look for in an insurance company and what would be best value for money for me.

My dog is:
Spayed female
Always vaccinated and Frontlined, if that makes any difference.
3.5 yrs old
No pre existing conditions, however she had a swollen pancreas and the word ‘pancreatitis’ was casually mentioned… nothing official, though.
Mutt – 3/4 Pomeranian, 1/4 Jack Russell.

I really want a company who cover dental work – do any of them do that? How do I find out if a particular company does?

I live in England, and I’m a student, so naturally I’d love something very cheap which covers a lot of conditions – but then who wouldn’t?
You’re probably right. Insurance for 3.5 years is about £1700. We’ve only incurred one medical emergency to date, which cost £600.

I’d still like to be prepared, though.

Obama care question, and other payment options?

with this new obama care bill that has been forced upon us requires us to buy health care or be fined (if i am correct). and from what i have read, young healthy people are the ones who dont want to buy health care (like me, im in my 20′s).
I dont have health care, and have not had a problem with medical bill as of yet. the few time i have gotten hurt and had an emergency i have been able to make payments to the hospital and doctors who treated me. I do not just take the service and not pay for it. I receive a bill in the mail, and i make payments on it.

Why is paying with cash, check or credit card an option that no one is looking into? why should i have to make a monthly premium payment for health insurance that i might not even use, to an insurance company, when i can just pay for the services i use?? Like i have no problem paying the to go see my family doctor, or making monthly payments to the local ER for broken bone they set?
at one job i had i enroll in there health care plan and had premiums taken out of my check every week. this was money that i could better use to feed my family or put gas im my car. and to top it off i had a max out of pocket i had to pay before my insurance would kick in.

What is the problem people have with me paying for my on health related bills?? i haven’t had any issues of having care refused because i choose to pay cash for services. what i have noticed is that once i contact the billing offices of the doctors and ER’s my bills have been adjusted and the prices on the services actually became a reasonable price. example: once i had a car wreck, and was at first charged about 0 foe a single pack of Tylenol 500mg (like what you get from a first aid kit with 2 pills in it). once i contacted them about the bill and let them know i was making cash payments they readjusted my bill anly charged me like for that pack. (yes that is still over priced) they also lowed the price on many of the other things i was billed for. this bill quickly went from over 00 down to something around 0

and not to long ago i heard someone bring this up on the Michael Savage talk radio show, but they really didn’t explore this option,

This has worked for me for the last 15 plus years and has saved me a ton of money, now maybe when i become older and need medical care more often to ease day to day life i can see me making the choice to buy health insurance, but until i need regular medical care what is wrong with me just paying for the services i need? just me and the doctor. this way i can also shop around for the best price, like lets say i need a pet scan. I have 4 major hospitals in the town i live in. I could inquire about the price differences between the four hospitals and have the scan done at the location offreing the best price for the service.. If more people did this dont you think the cost of these every day services would drop due to computation between them?
I dont care about other peoples costs, all i care about is my son, my wife, and my family members. I will help my family if in need, but i when it comes to every one else, here is what i have to say, "life is hard and unfair, so sorry about your luck" I dont wana be an ass, but what can i say
Angela Q::
for me they lowered the price of the services. from what i see, the insurance comipnes anr being overcharged for services, because they pay it

I have no insurance or money, so what to do?

I have noticed a ton of questions in the past two days about sick dogs. I know they are always here, but it seems lately there are a lot more. The excuse is always I can’t afford a vet.
I have gotten into several debates about this. People have accused me (and others with a similar opinion) of judging and sayin that dogs are for rich people.
The argument seems to be, my dog is better off living with me with no healthcare than in the shelter where I got him from.
While I agree that it is better to be rescued, my argument lies in, how much better will it be if the dog is suffering from something you cannot pay to treat?
My lab was really sick last week. The vet thought it could be pancreatitis or a partial blockage. Neither fatal, if treated. But if I could not afford the treatment he would certainly suffer and it could become fatal.
What happens if the dog comes down with a serious illness? Even euthanizing a dog that is suffering cost money.

It takes very little money set aside each week to end up with a decent vet savings account. Less, in fact, than what most pay for internet service per month. I know of many people on here that have limited income that still manage to provide their dog with health care.

In my opinion, it is not about money, it is about priority.

I pay a month per dog for pet insurance. That is going to cover a good portion of my 0 vet bill from last week.

What are your thoughts?
Do you have pet insurance or a savings account?

Is pet insurance a good idea for a dog or not?

I have a pug/beagle mix who will be 7 years old in a few months. I am thinking about purchasing pet insurance for him, one that will cover accidents, injuries, and illnesses, continuous care, even hereditary diseases and preventative services/vaccinations and yearly vet visits.

He hasn’t had any health problems so far, so there wouldn’t be any "pre-existing" conditions to exclude.

There will be a 200 dollar deductible that has to be met yearly, and then after that they will pay 80% of any vet bills he has.

Is this a good idea? Or will it end up being pointless?

The way I see it is, you never know what could happen. He’s almost 7 years old, and he could develop some illness or condition as he gets older, I have heard a lot of dogs do. And I would only be paying about 250 a year in insurance premiums.

I have heard people say that instead of getting insurance, you should just save the money in a savings account, but I disagree with that because if I saved 250 a year, which is what I would be paying in insurance premiums, I would only have saved 2,000 dollars by the time he is 15 years old. That would not help if he were to develop a disease or condition. With insurance, he could get 10,000-20,000 a year if he needed it, depending on the plan I chose.

What are your thoughts? Is pet insurance a good idea or a bad one? Has anybody had any experience with pet insurance? Know of any good companies?
