Dog Insurance?!?!?!?!?!?

Planning on getting my first dog and had some questions. First my parents are saying that the dogs insurance is going to cost alot and wonder how much it really costs and what it covers. Whats the best dog insurance?

Where and How do I get my dog breeder license in MI?

I was told that I need a breeders license to breed my dogs and sell their puppies. They are Yorkshire Terriers so I was going to breed them once to see how it goes. Since they are small dogs I want it to go 100% perfect (yes I know that nothing is 100% perfect but you know what I mean) If not I wasn’t going to breed them again and get them fix. Do I still need the license to do this?
Also I was going to get a siberian husky, but the city only lets us to have ONLY 2 PETS AT A TIME, and my sister is living with me and her dog. (which is also a small dog and very old) So when I do get the husky that will make 4 dogs and my parents’ cat. (which is really really old, she is starting to lose her mind) Is there a license that I can get to keep all of them??? I really take good care of all of them, a lot of people say that they will never treat their dog like that, and they are really good trained. Always does what I tell them to.

How can I get my female spayed and vaccinated for cheap?

My parents really aren’t into the whole,"Hey, let’s save the dog population!" thing, so I am trying to figure out if there is some way I can get her vaccinated, and spayed for cheap.

I’ve heard you have to fill out some kind of application? Where do I get it?

I stay in Florida if that helps.

What to do for Diarrhea lasting over a week?

I am 22 years old and have never had any health issues. I am active, eat healthy, and workout. For the past week however I have had diarrhea, a lot of time it is after I eat and also in the morning. I have already sat on the toilet 4 times today. I don’t have any other symptoms other than slight stomach aches and I am a little more tired than usual. I have tried Imodium and Pepto Bismol and neither have worked. I have been drinking Gatorade and water to try to avoid dehydration. I am not vomiting either. This all started last week while my parents were out of the country and I was staying at the house alone watching my families pets. I do not enjoy being alone overnight so I am wondering if this was brought on by stress, but they have been back now for two days and I am not getting any better. I currently don’t have any health insurance since I just graduated college and I am trying to avoid going to the Dr. until I have my health insurance set up. Any suggestions as to what I can do in the mean time?

Pet Tortoise is causing Health Problems?

I’ve had my pet tortoise for about two months, recently my health has dropped dramatically. I’m also allergic to our pet guinea pig who is also in the house,
I think its the guinea pig and we’re going to get rid of her soon but my parents are arguing that it could be caused by the tortoise because my neighbour told them how friends of her’s started getting really sick and the tortoise was discovered as the cause of it.
Its an 8 year old Russian Horsefield Tortoise.
Can someone please give any advice??

What is the cost of owning a Labrador Retriever?

I am a college student and have wanted a dog for my entire life but have been unable to get one because of my parents forbidding me to own one in their home. However, I may be getting an apartment soon and would like to adopt a Labrador Retriever. I plan to adopt a grown dog because I can’t commit to training a puppy at this point but know that I can commit to spending enough time with an adult dog and exercising it (and teaching it how to play Frisbee!) and caring for it. My main question is simply how much the cost of caring for a Labrador Retriever is. I have done research and have a general idea but essentially would like to know an average for things such as food bills, pet insurance bills, and vet bills for this breed of dog. I know this breed has some health issues like heart worm and hip problems so I was wondering what type of bills these problems would cost. I understand the cost of owning a dog is not cheap but I was just looking for a general idea as I plan out my finances.
I would like to clarify that when I was at class my roommates would be with the dog and at most it would be alone for a few hours a day; there are thousands of dogs across the country that are alone all day while their family is at work and school. These dogs may spend 8 hours alone (which mine would not) and for adult dogs this is done all the time with happy dogs.

How do I get AKC papers on my dogs?

My mom has 4 miniature pinscher who has recently had puppies. The parents are AKC registered by the owner before my mom but he past away and she doesn’t know where the papers are. He named them odd names and she can’t remember them so she renamed them all. So is there any way we can get papers on all the puppies?

Rescue vs. Breeder?

I’ve given a lot of thought to some things I have said here in Y!A. Myself, and a lot of other people say "rescue!" when someone asks what kind of dog they should get. I have a rescue dog, and he’s the light of my life, but I can honestly say I don’t see anything wrong with purchasing a dog from a brilliant and responsible breeder IF you plan on working your dog, ie, herding, agility, SAR, and all the others. I also don’t really see what wrong with wanting a good family pet with strong health, decent temper, and a solid background. Should we all really be pushing rescue? My heart breaks for all the homeless animals, but I feel like rescue isn’t for everyone. I think the most important thing is BREEDER RESEARCH. We all don’t want people buying from pet stores, BYBs, or puppymills. But should we be so quick to scream RESCUE? Opinions?
Nin–I agree with what you have said wholeheartedly. When people are looking for a pet, an animal to love them, and be loved by them, rescue is optimal. I also think that inexperienced dog owners should look into rescue. I also think that people who have the capacity should "mix it up a little". Our first dog when I was a kid was a breeder purchased purebred Golden Retriever. My parents wanted a healthy dog with a safe background that would be good with the kids (my brother and I). I cannot frown upon this logic. I am not a mother, I have nothing but time and energy to devote to a rescue. Therefore, it was great for both him and myself.
Um, apparently some of you think I am looking into getting a dog. I’m not. I have a rescue BC, and my furkid family is full at the moment.

I do know why we ALL shout RESCUE at the (to quote someone, thank you) 15 year old girl who want a puggle or a teacup yorkie. I just really wanted to bounce some ideas and opinions around. Thank you everyone, for your answers.
Oh yeah, and of COURSE he’s neutered!
racecarsnotdogs– I just want everyone to know that I’m not PUSHING anything here! Obviously I support rescue. I do not think all rescues are mutts, hence, my purebred BC rescue. I just think that it’s okay not to rescue (as long as you do it right! There should be a waiting list, a spay and neuter contract, complete health tests, blah blah blah), and may you be blessed if you do.

Ways for a 13 year old to make money??? Parents against an allowance.?

Well In need to make 0 dollars by the end of summer so I can adopt this amazing cat named Pepperoni. My parents think that an allowance will spoil me so I can save up like that. They will however pay for food in half, and it has a vet exam, spayed, microchip, flea treatment, and current vaccinations. I have never had a pet bigger than Mocha, my Hamster. What else would it take to care for this kitten? And how do I convince my parents I am responsible enough? How much does pet Insurance cost? Any one have any ideas? Remember Best Answer gets 10 pts. How to convince parents to let me take in this dog?

Circumstances I have are pretty different than usual so I figured I would ask.

We already have dogs and I do the majority of the care-taking of them so I have proved that I can be responsible for the dogs. This dog I want is an adult dog I have been around for 2+ years but owned by someone else, my parents have met this dog and the current owners and like them.
The owners are getting rid of the dog due to new baby and the dog has a minor health problem, NO behavior issues.
My parents thoughts are that we don’t need another pet, but there were already plans to get me another pet as one of mine passed away recently.
Things I can already promise that parents would agree as true:
-I will walk this dog EVERYDAY
-I will do any training still needed on the dog
-The dog can be crated when not watched, we already have a crate of appropriate size.
-I can clean the yard for all dogs in the summer(Still in school)

Anything else I should do? And how should I initiate conversation about it?
I haven’t actually asked my parents or brought it up at all yet so I don’t know how they’d feel at all, the part I added about them saying that we already have enough pets was before one sadly passed away.

The suggestion of food is good, I can help pay for the food. The transfer of ownership would cost us nothing at all and the health issue it has is a slight hip problem just beginning to surface and will not require any treatment for several years.
I’m a junior in high school so by the time it requires treatment it will be solely my responsibility.
