I took him to the vet who confirmed it was Kennel Cough. He gave me some Amoxicillin liquid and told me to have him rest and sleep as much as possible.

Is there anything I can do to help him beat this quicker and get better?

Personal experience anyone?
Thanks for pointing out the obvious torbaynewfs. I’m looking for someone who may have had some personal experience with this and might have some knowledge about this virus.
torbaynewfs – I have actually never delt with Kennel Cough the whole time I have owned dogs (23 years). I’ve heard it is very common, but I have personally never dealt with it (luckily), until now. I just wanted some feedback as to how others dealt with it. Of course I’m going to listen to the doctor (that’s why I went there!) and give him his medication but I wanted to hear personal experience from other dog/puppy owners. I don’t plan on giving him any other medication then what the doctor has prescribed, but maybe other people have a few tricks or tips on how to make the virus go away sooner or at least how to make my puppy as comfortable as he can be until he can beat this thing.

You don’t need to be rude. I’m only trying to do what’s best for my puppy so he doesn’t get something worse or deadly like pneumonia or parvo. Sheesh.

Boarding dogs at home?

I live in spain and in a need to earn money I thought I would take dogs in to stay when their owners go on holiday. i have a large fenced garden and other land to excercise the dogs on and they would sleep in the house at night. What other considerations do I need to take? I wasn´t going to have insurance ,so is it comon practise in this situation to get owners to sign a form freeing me of liability? What about vet bills if accidents happen? I wasn´t going to provide food as i feel it is important for the dogs to stay on their own diet. do i need to take a deposit up front and how do I prevent people dumping dogs on me and not coming back for them. Any help will be gratefully recieved.

can you tell me the best company for cat and bird/exotic pet insurance?
do you only pay 12 dollars a month and they cover all the costs to x-rays and other stuff the pet needs?

are these good sites? :

http://www.petinsurance.com/Plans-And-Coverage/Birds-And-Exotic-Pets.aspx

http://www.petinsurance.com/Plans-And-Coverage/Cats/Health-Plans.aspx

not important details:
i never took my bird to the vet for 6 or 7 years so since i have a kitten im thinking about having them start going but im not a rich person. the kitten is weeks and sprained it front paw so unless it gets better in 2 days i have no choice.
the kitten didnt exactly sprain its paw but it jumped down and has a limp now. it drank its krm (kitten replacement milk) and went to sleep.

I had to board my dog for a week. I used an in home boarding facility because I wanted my dog to play with other dogs and run in and out of a home any time he wanted. I picked him up two days ago and he doesn’t seem his usual playful self. He’s only a puppy and usually I can’t get him to stop playing with me. Now he just wants to sleep all the time. Should I be worried?

Should I worry about my cat?

I have two cats. One of them had Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) and was put to sleep. Should I bring the healthy cat to the vet immediatly to check if he has the virus?

Will my cat miss me? I really hope not.?

I’ve had my cat since he was 4 weeks old. Too early I know, but he was my boyfriend’s parents’ kitten and they simply could not keep him.

Consequently, my boyfriend and I are deeply attached to him and him to us.

Baby and I when he was only a month old:

Now my boyfriend and I are moving from the UK to do a course which will eventually lead to a medical degree, and the total cost of bringing our little one with us is just too extravagant. £300 for the vaccinations and the pet passport and perhaps more. Then the charge for the extra baggage on the airline. Then, after five years and we’re ready to go back to the UK, our little one needs to be quarantined for six months (EU guidelines), which will cost about £5,000. In short – bringing him is not an option.

My boyfriend and I have cried together over this, and we are both finding it really hard.

He was a little ball of fluff and now he’s 4 1/2 kg!

My question is…

Will he miss us? Will he wait for us to come home when we give him to his new owners?

I really, really, really hope not as that will just break my heart.

My boyfriend and I recently had to sleep over my auntie’s house and we brought our cat with us and my auntie woke me up in the middle of the night saying the cat won’t stop crying. I went down to stroke him and he went to sleep.

So you see why I am so worried.

In a way, a human is a lot easier to leave behind as the human knows what is going on. For all our cat knows, we were just going to work and were going to be back in the evening as usual.

I really can’t bear the thought that he’d look for us.

Essentially, I want somebody to assure me that cats only remember who feeds them and are users and have nowhere near the emotional capacity as dogs do.

Sigh.

Do your pets know when you are pregnant?

I have 3 small dogs and 2 cats and I am expecting a baby due Feb 2. My pets all seem to want to sleep near my belly right now – especially my puppy. Can they sense that I am pregnant or is it just a fluke?

Chihuahua health concern~?

I have a female long-haired chihuahua whose about a year and a half or so. She has 24-hour access to food and water, which has worked perfectly for her since I got her at 6 weeks old.
She’s always had the seemingly common problem of drinking too fast and vomiting yellow foam-like stuff, which doesn’t really worry me.
For the past week or so, she has been vomiting up everything, not just foam. Occasionally in the past, she has thrown up from eating human food(which I don’t allow her to do, but she always manages to find something on the floor), but never like this.
I have tried to give her a new type of food, but it’s on a separate dish than her normal food, and she still eats her normal food, and hasn’t touched the other at all, so I don’t think that’s the problem.
Besides that, nothing has changed, so I don’t know what the problem could possibly be. And she doesn’t act abnormal at all, she still has the same energy and the same sleep schedule and acts as happy as can be.
If you have any advice or input, it would be greatly appreciated, this is my first chihuahua, and I usually have dogs that are easy to take care of, so I’m not used to having a high maintenance pet.
I plan on taking her to the vet, but I had to make an appointment because she’s not on the verge of death or anything, so if you want to answer this, please say something besides, "Take her to the vet, duh!"

What does it mean to dream of a sick dog?

I had a dream that this dog kept taking my sweater away and putting it on and this guy told me they had to take him and put him to sleep because he was sick. I don’t understand any part of this dream. I was at a park and it kind of turned into a pound…

Best and inexpensive cat insurance?

My cat’s getting old now so we’ve decided to look into cat insurance for her. She’s about 13 years old.. have had many problems in the past. A cat bit her, urinary infection, skin infection, etc. She’s been acting kind of weird lately, always sleeping.. Not like her usual sleeping time. She doesn’t walk around much, she used to come upstairs and sleep next to me at night but now she doesn’t even go up the stairs. We got her new cat food since she stopped eating the last one apparently her teeth’s getting old. She has also been peeing around her litter box a lot. So anyways, are there any cat insurance you guys recommend? Hopefully not too expensive. Thanks
