We haev been warned about insurance companies only offering a 12 month plan then opting out and not allowing people to renew after the 12 months are up if the dog gets a condition.

For this reason we are looking for a lieftime cover plan but most are very pricy. Due to the bad luck we have had with our little lady so far we definately want cover but was wondering if any of you guys had any reccommendations?

Pet plan are supposidly the best but that costs £260 per year…. thats more than my car insurance n nearly as much as my house insurance!!

My little lady is healthy she just had to have a little op before we got her from the rescue centre. Long story short…she had her rear leg amputated due to a car accident.

I want it to be able to cover everything, Dental Cleanings, Cancer, Emergency Room visits. I don’t want to have to pay a lot out of my pocket. Any recommendations??? Thanks!! I have a 15 month old chihuahua and have just taken to Petco for its annual shots last July and thats it. I want to be able to use the insurance for annual checkups etc… not just for emergencies. Any recomendations? I have heard horror stories on people who take their pets to the doctor and then have really bad insurance companies that either will not approve the claim or only give them back like 10% of what the huge vet bill was. I have a 5.5 month old samoyed puppy. She is fairly well trained, although a bit stubborn, and plays very well with other dogs. She also loves all people. Next week we are going to a friend’s house for spring break (only staying one night) and they have two cats. One is a neutered male somewhere between 2 and 6 years old (I’m not sure), and the other is an unspayed female between 1 and 5 years old.
The only time my puppy has seen cats was at the vets office, when she saw them in crates recovering from operations. She barked and growled at them then, so I don’t know how she’ll respond to seeing a normal, alert cat. She does have a hunting instinct toward small animals (she’s killed a few mice in the backyard) but she is still friendly toward very small dogs. The cats have never lived with dogs. Can you please give me some tips on introducing the puppy to the cats? Thanks in advance.

I realize this can vary from state to state (I happen to live in a state where this practice is allowed) and even agent to agent.

Please let me know if you’re aware of any home owner’s insurance companies that do not discriminate against particular dog breeds. We don’t have a dog yet, but plan to get one in the spring. Two of the breeds we’re most interested in, Husky & German Shepard, are on the list of dogs many insurances companies inaccurately consider dangerous.

I checked the AKC website, and it only gives tips on how to negotiate with the companies. Our current insurer told us they’d write the policy without mention of any dog, and told us to not inform them when we do get a dog (i.e. don’t ask, don’t tell). I’m not really comfortable with that, especially since our current agent is close to retirement.

On the rare chance you’re in my part of the world, this policy would be for the St. Louis area. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
I asked around my office too and it seems like State Farm has come out as the most recommended company for dog friendliness.

I’ve read allot of RAW feeders who say that kibble or bagged dog food is not the best,due to food recalls and such,and that raw food is the best because its a dogs natural diet,but most dog food recalls are due to Salmonella or E.Coli contamination,but RAW food also contains salmonella and e.coli,so why is it that RAW feeders are basically feeding there dog contaminated food,and if that’s okay then I shouldn’t be so concerned when theres another pet food recall,because thousands of people feed there dogs RAW contaminated meat.Please correct me if I’m wrong,and I am not trying to offend anybody in anyway,its just a question that got me thinking:)Thanks in advance to everyone that shares there opinions!!

My dog, Teddy, is a 9 month old mixed breed, who we believe to be primarily Sheltie. We don’t know for sure, because we adopted he from a shelter when he was 2 months old and the people who took care of him didn’t know either. We don’t have a lot of money to spend, so definitely an insurance that isn’t too expensive but will still cover a lot. He doesn’t have any medical issues, but I have heard it is a good investment. I currently feed my 14 week cocker spaniel Eukanuba puppy food. I’ve heard that it is a great brand, but lately I’ve been thinking about going natural/organic with his food. I want to know if I do, is it worth it (price difference,hassle, etc.). Anyone who feeds there dog natural/organic food please let me know what kind you think is best & why you think it is/isn’t better for them. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!

I took my cat to the vet to get his shots updated. He got his rabies shot in 2005 and its supposed to last for 3 years. Well the other day he got another 3 year rabies shot which he wasn’t supposed to get until 2008. Is this bad?? I hope i haven’t screwed up the vaccine….. i’m calling my vet tomorrow about this but maybe someone knows so I can sleep tonite. Thanks in advance.

I got my new guinea pig 4 weeks ago so he is now 22 weeks old. I have bunnies but he doesnt live with them (Dont tell me they can be together because you have a bunny with a pig because i tried and my male bunny tried to kill him and every question i ask people tell me i can put him in with them, well i cant) and they have vaccinations.

Does my piggy need vaccinations? How much do they cost on average in the UK? What age does he need them at?
