Puppy will be 12 weeks old when cropped. Will puppy be bandaged right away or will they come home with just splints? And what pain medication did your vets prescribe for your puppy?
I’ve heard that you should spay ASAP, I’ve heard that you should wait until her first heat, but I’m wondering, dog’s health in mind and assuming she will be ABSOLUTELY safe should the appropriate time come after her first heat, what is the right time?
There are reasons not to trust the answers of most, vets included, the most important is that most people are more concerned with controlling the over population than what will be best for the little b*tch. What’s the right age to spay, dog’s health in mind?

Today our vet called us and said he thinks our 7 month old puppy has Addison’s Disease. He is planning to review her file with a few other vets in a couple days, so there is nothing specifically pertaining to Addison’s Disease in her file.
If we get insurance ASAP, would this be considered a pre-existing condition if there were running other tests? (She had Giardia before).
Any information or personal experience about pet insurance would be GREATLY appreciated as we’re looking at about 0/month treatments on a PUPPY.

I have a 2 year old german shepherd. He has been sick for close to a year from that dog food poisoning. We spent 00 to try to fix the problem. He got better for a while but then got sick again. He has done that 4 times now. We took him in for a ultrasound and he had really bad liver and kidney damage. He’s still really hyper and acts like he’s not sick but he obviously is. Do you think he will ever get better?
Where do you think we spent the 00. Been to 3 different vets and none of them where worth a damn. They just wanted to rob us of our money.
I would love to adopt a dog, but afraid of the vet bills plus the drugs they insist you give your animal. I don’t take any drugs as a human, it irritates me that owning a pet is an automatic 35 dollar a month drug bill for heartworm and fleas.

My oldest cat in the house is now 7 years old. I have 4 indoors right now. Up until about 6 months ago, they ate purina cat chow. After doing my homework and realizing how bad there food was and dry on top of it I changed. I changed to innova dry food and they were having no parts of it and actually my one cat landed in the emergency hospital because of it. To rich I guess. I switced to wellness wet food. Than I switched to chicken soup lite cause I wanted less of a calorie intake for them. As soon as I heard about the second recall I witched to innova wet food. Cats did well, gained weight again 
and than decided to go off there food. Bored I guess so as frustrated as I am, I said F-it and bought there old wet food to just get them eating again which is Friskies. They begin eating but one. As soon as my one sensitive cat smells wet food he runs. I just took him to the vets and hes fine. I gave him a handful of very bad dry fod for the cats outside and he ate it.
He wants dry food. Do you think my cats want there crappy food back cause they are so used to it there whole lives. They have all been with me since birth. Should I go back??? Remember good dry put my cat in the hospital and this was all gradual changes, I’m not dumb. I’m sick of all these changes and so are they. I want whats best for them even though I know there old food wasnt but least they ate everyday
Spay Day rolls around every February here. Is it a national thing? Have you heard of it? Do you take advantage of it? I LOVE the idea. I just wish it was at least twice a year.
I wish even here it was that inexpensive. It is only about half the regular price, plus meds. I would love it if it was only for a dog. I’d take everyone in my family’s dogs and get them done!
An animal can get spayed/neutered at any time. Spay Day is a promotion to encourage people to get it done.
All the vets in the area offer a special of 1/2 off of spay/neuter on Spay Day.
I have an appointment to neuter my male kitten. The vet quoted me 5 for the surgery for blood screening and for an IV catheter ( as an emergency precaution in case something goes wrong) This i my first cat but it seems like alot. In your experience is the a normal price or should I check with other vets?

Ok, I got my 4/5 month old kitten spayed today at a low cost spay clinic run by a local pet rescue place and local vets. I just checked on her after being in her room for 4 hours. And I saw a little bit of what looks like blood near the incision. What should I do? All the other pets I’ve had have been fixed before I got them.
My dog is pregnant for the second time and were thinking of getting an abortion or getting her spayed during her pregnancy. But we are unaware of the price. She is a poodle/chiuahaha mix and had two babies last time. In case that information is relevant. We havent called any vets yet because there arent any by our house.

So, there are guidlines put out by the governing body of vets across the country about how much to charge for EVERYTHING vet related, from food, to injections, to surgeries. Clinics can go a certain percentage up or down from this guideline.
To see how much of a price difference there is, wondering if people can post the cost they paid to have their dog neutered( And if it included IV fluids and bloodwork)?
My youngest was 80 lbs when he was neutered. We do mandatory fluids and b/w with any anesthetic. We also had a small umbilical hernia repaired at the same time and I get a discount for workng there.
It would have cost a non staff member a little over 900.00$ (I work at a VERY expensive hospital..I called my old clinic for curiosity’s sake and they quoted me 250.00)
I didn’t pay anything close to that price because I work there + I have pet insurance But Im curious to see what the average person pays.

The governing body is the CVMA, and they are the ones who put out the guidelines.
Everything in my town is that expensive, because everyone here makes ridiculous amounts of money.. even the 15 year old kid working at mcdonalds makes 17$/hr
On top of that it’s a pretty isolated town, and so that makes prices of things sky rocket as well, but yeah retarded price.. my old clinic said they would have done the same thing for 250 Lol.
Oh, and they can go up or down from what the guideline suggests.. my boss goes up as far as possible
One night I was reading online the horrible ingredients that are in most processed dog foods. My dog was very sick a few months back with a bladder infection and stones in his urine. The vet told me to buy a canned dog food that they sell at the vets and gave me some antibiotics. My dog was so ill he had not ate for four days, and would hardly drink any water until he started taking the antibiotics. It even took three days for him to start acting anywhere near normal. Then after reading about the ingredients that are in most processed dog foods, I changed to organic, and he is doing so well, its like he is the dog he was three years ago. It may cost more to buy the organic food, but it is well worth it, and I would rather put the money into good dog food, than vet bills!
I have been told that Petco does vaccinations for dogs on Sundays for really good prices. I have a vet that I go to, but the prices are outrageously expensive! My shih tzu is going to be due for her shots soon. So, my question is for owners that have taken their pets to Petco for their shots.
1- Do you recommend them?
2- Are they clean, safe, and professional like real vets?
3- Did your dog/s have any allergic reactions or get sick after the shots?
