If you get your doctorate i think it would be a little easier for you with the physiology part of it, but you still need to learn the different parts of the different animals both large and small, and it takes 4 years. I have never heard of a vet program take any less time. (When I entered college I thought I wanted to be a vet.)

To become a Vet, first you need to graduate from an undergraduate program, Usually in biology or related field. Some colleges have a Pre-Vet/Pre-Med/Pre-Professional program. Check with your advisor to see. After you graduate from undergraduate, you will apply to get into a Vet School. Getting into Vet School is extremely competitive as their is only 28 Vet Schools in the U.S. After you get in, Vet School is a four year program, usually with 3 years of classes and your final year in clinics/externships. Once you graduate you will have your DVM (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine).
