I’m currently working on my associate’s degree in science. I want to become a veterinarian. What classes should I be taking? And when should I apply to a veterinary college? Do I need my bachelor’s degree first?

Most peopel get a bachelor’s although this is not required. You do need to meet vet school admission requirements which is usually chemistry, biology, organic chemistry, physics, and calculus in addition to others depending on the school. Most people apply to vet school during the Fall of their senior year of undergrad. The VCAT is not used anymore. All but one school accept the GRE (most people take this during summer after Junior year of undergrad). The more biology and animal science courses you take the better off you will be in vet school. Check out the following sites for admissions info: avma.org, aavmc.org
also you will need veterinary experince. Try to work or volunteer at a vet clinic. Large animal expereince will be a plus as will research.
Yes you need a bachelor’s degree, you should take every biology class offered and you need to see a counselor. You have to sit for the VCAT and it is VERY hard.
