I don’t know if I did or not but I gave my dog a heartworm pill tonight because I just remembered it but now I am a bit nervous that my fiance may have given him a pill on sunday what should I do? If he has had to will there be any symptoms? Just curious!
My dog is a West Highland White Terrier and is about 16 to 18 pounds. I’m just curious of what to do if there is anything bad with this happening?
His medicine is called interceptor

It’s fine. I have seen dogs get into the whole package and have no problems. The dosage is very small and although it isn’t the best thing for the dog it isn’t going to hurt just this once.
Call a vet clinic they’ll tell you over the phone.
Advantix does not prevent heartworm at all, it does repel mosquitoes but it only takes one bite to transmit the disease.
Post above is correct. No problem here. Just one pill short for your supply.
The pills kill the stage of larvae at that time, not continuously.
You didn’t double up.
We even give kenneled dogs ivermectrin in liquid form from over the counter stuff safely if you know how to cut it and what breeds can’t take it.
I like the answers you already received but I wanted to add this: alot of parents have a system for giving kids medicine to keep from mistakes like this happening and you can do the same with your pets.
Either ONLY one person is always and forever in charge of the medicine (obviously you can help one another if needed but each instance of the non-medicine person administering medicine is discussed deliberately beforehand)…. or, the medicine is kept with a notepad or check-off sheet and you train yourselves to NEVER administer medicine without writing down the date, time, dose, etc.
Definitely not trying to sound like I’m yelling or obsessive or anything, just giving ideas
Talk to your fiance and come up with a good system for yall!
If it was Heartguard there is no problem. If it was advantix, you should’t do it.
You could give 6mo of Heartguard at one setting and still not have problems. It is very safe.
